Rejuvenating Your Bedroom

Most of us don't put enough thought into choosing the right mattress, especially considering how much time we spend using it. We spend about one-third of our lives asleep, and most of this time is spent on a mattress. Despite the amount of time we spend in bed, many of us ignore our mattress until the springs start poking us through the mattress pad. But a mattress has a lot to do with the quality of sleep and, therefore, with how we feel during the day. So give some thought and attention to the type of mattress you use to ensure a good night's sleep and a well-rested feeling the following day. When selecting a mattress, you need to make decisions about firmness, type of mattress and bed, and size. Recognizing the important role sleep and a good mattress plays in quality of life, the folks at Southern Bedding of Columbia build a great selection of mattresses right here in Columbia. Analyze all the rooms of your home - are some underutilized and some just exhausted from use? Maybe its time to relocate some activity centers and redirect some traffic patterns. • Resist the urge to repaint your interior as the first step in your new look. There are myriad beautiful paint colors to compliment your final fabric selections but painting your walls first will severely limit your choices in fabric selections. Color schemes should flow smoothly from room to room, especially in the adjoining living areas. This means some detailed attention needs to be paid early to the long range overall color plan. • Something slightly whimsical in every room will ensure that your rooms don't take their new look too seriously. Lamps, area rugs, candles and other accessories are all opportunities for a novel touch to keep rooms feeling light and welcoming. Quiet Camping Under a Magnificent Sky Although Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp-Resort is family-oriented all year long, there are far fewer families with children camping during the school months of January - April. The campground plays host to "snowbird" couples from the Northeast and Midwest, looking for an escape from dreary and cold winter days. It's an opportunity to enjoy quiet camping, fishing and activities that appeal to adults like covered dish dinners, candy bar bingo and a great ceramics program. A Valentine's Dinner is planned, and guests become friends in the cozy clubroom where they can share watching their favorite sports on the bigscreen TV. No matter what time of year, nothing beats the flavor of outdoor cooking and a campfire never feels as wonderful as when there's a nip in the air. And if you are mesmerized by the beauty of nature, you'll be astonished at the night skies at Jellystone, located away from the lights of any city. Billions of stars dance and sparkle, and it is absolutely magnificent to watch the constellations move across the sky. 803-568-4182 www.riverbottomfarms.com ©
