Los primeros documentos que hablan de la existéncia de la finca se remontan al año 992, aunque la primera mención a Caus consta en el año 1478.
Los orígenes de la casa datan del siglo XV y las piedras de los arcos
de la casa llevan la fecha de 1634. El escudo de la casa anuncia lo que ha sido su historia, pues contiene un arado, una azada y la falqueta de

En 1979 Carlos Esteva se hace cargo
de la propiedad iniciando la restauración de la finca, la casa y el desarrollo de un nuevo concepto singular y con mucha personalidad.
HISTORY
back to the year 992, although the first mention of Caus doesn’t appear until 1478. The house itself dates back to the 15th Century and the stone work in the arches are dated 1634. The coat of arms of the property tell the story of the estate, it contains a plough, a hoe and harvesting tools. The Can Rafols dels Caus estate has been making wines for centuries. The Rafols family has been making wine since the 11th Century and it seems that the origins of this traditional Catalan country farm house stems from roman times, from a villa called Vilaseca. During recent excavations of nearby land only three kilometers away, archaeologists have found the settlement of a village dating back to 500 BC, and with it evidence of wine making culture. It was in 1939 when Jacinto Esteva, Carlos’s grandfather, acquired the property, and ever since then, him and his son of the same name maintained the cultivation and elaboration of the wine, which at that time was sold wholesale. Carlos Esteva took over the property in 1979 and took charge of a major renovation of the land, the house and the development of a new concept with heaps of personality.

The 15th Century fortified farmhouse. The size of the estate makes one feel like they are in an original Roman settlement. From its Roman past we can clearly see evidence as manifested by the stonework, columns and pillars in parts of the estate. As the years have passed, extensions have been added to create the property we see today. The stonework of the arches of Can Rafols date back to 1634, a date when the Rafols family had already settled on the estate. The chapel doorway dates back to 1478 and is named Mas de Sant Julia, even though there are documents which verify the existence of this as far back as 1297. Can Rafol dels Caus, the stunning farmhouse, fits perfectly among the beautiful landscapes of the Catalan countryside in the midst of Pine trees, Oak trees and almond trees.

Can Ràfols dels Caus siempre ha sido pionero e incluso creador de
corrientes, y a veinticinco años del inicio de su aventura enológica, Carlos Esteva decidió dar un gran paso hacia delante con la construcción
de una nueva bodega. El objetivo no fue el de dar cabida a más tinas,
hectolitros, y botellas, sino el de trabajar mejor y crear un nuevo concepto de bodega donde se puede ver todo el proceso de elaboración
en vivo y en directo. Con este proyecto, la casa multiplicó su potencial
cualitativo, puesto que todo está orientado a trabajar más a fondo las micro vinificaciones, separar aún más
