• With an aim to target audiences on the move, CBN India launched its very first podcast called The Pod About God on Spotify. The monthly podcast aims to dive deep into God’s Word and respond to questions a Christian is seeking answers to. The first episode went live on January 29.

KENYA

• The Superbook team , including Gizmo, was invited to an outreach for the children of Korogocho, one of the largest slum neighborhoods in Nairobi. The event was called “Back to School with Superbook” after school had been closed during a break in December 2022. Through the Superbook curriculum, the kids learned about courage from the story of David and Goliath and were encouraged to always face their challenges (giants) using God’s Word. They watched the episode “A Giant Adventure .” The Superbook team also conducted a demonstration of this lesson to enforce the message. Afterward, some of the children gave their lives to Christ.

FROM A LIFE OF PAIN TO a Passion for Learning

You could hardly call it “living.” Little Raphael and his mother rented a one-room house in the slums of Kenya, where wholesome, nourishing food is an extravagance. Every day was a struggle to survive, as unimaginable trauma dogged this young boy.

Before Raphael was born, his father left the home. Later on, Raphael was forced to fend for himself after his mother was put in jail for selling alcohol. He was also locked up inside

his house by the landlord when the rent went unpaid.

Praise God that Raphael was rescued by your love when a local school— sponsored by CBN’s Orphan’s Promise—invited him to attend. The school offered financial help, counseling, and nutritious meals. With his teachers’ encouragement and Raphael’s ambition to someday become a pilot, his initial fear of failure vanished and hope for a brighter future was born!

THE STORY OF SERGEY

The war with Ukraine changed life dramatically for one Jewish family living in Russia.

“We knew we had to leave,” said Sergey.

Because Sergey is Jewish, he decided to move his family to Israel. When they got there, they faced some challenges. “We hardly had any furniture and didn’t even have a washing machine. We wanted to make our kids’ living area comfortable, but we couldn’t afford it,” he said.

With your support, CBN Israel helped to provide the family with furniture, a washing machine, and groceries. “CBN Israel came along and gave us hope that everything will work out,” explained his wife, Ludmila. Sergey said, “It is very touching to know there are people who care so much about families like ours.”

THE STORY OF ANNA

Anna is a single mother who was living with her son in eastern Ukraine when the war broke out. “We had to hide in the basement,” she said. “When you look at your child hugging his toy and asking when the war will be over, you know you have to do something.”

A rescue train organized by their Jewish community took them to western Ukraine. From there, the Israeli government was allowing Jewish refugees to immediately make Aliyah and return to their ancestral homeland as immigrants. When they finally made it to Israel, a government grant allowed them to rent an apartment, but Anna couldn’t afford a refrigerator. So, CBN Israel stepped in.

“We really needed one, and you got it for us quickly,” said Anna. “It was a big relief, and we are very thankful.”

THE STORY OF SOFI

Sofi also knows the horrors of war all too well. She was born the day WWII started. Her father was a Red Army naval officer in Latvia. When he went to war, Sofi’s mother was taken prisoner, and the Nazis took the children to Germany.

“I was taken to an orphanage,” Sofi recalled, where “the Nazis conducted experiments on us.”

When the war ended, Sofi was reunited with her mother, but it took years to find her brother and sister, who had made it to Israel. She and her mother immigrated to Israel in 1972. Sofi married, had kids, and enjoyed life. Yet as she got older, things changed. Her husband became paralyzed and now lives in a special care facility. She gets lonely living by herself and has trouble walking, so it is hard to leave her apartment.

But friends like you offered a lifeline. “You bring groceries, and you never forget to call me on my birthday,” Sofi said. “I’m so happy you still remember us. It’s great to know you care.”

How do you hear God? I have been going to church for some time, and I keep praying, but I still don’t hear from God.

A QI do think God wants to speak to us. In Psalm 46:10 ( nkjv ), He says, “ Be still, and know that I am God. ” I also believe in being filled with the Holy Spirit. Romans 8:14 tells us, For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God .

All you’ve got to do is be still and know that He is God. Just sit still for a while, spend a little time in prayer, and say, “God, I need to hear from You. What do You want me to do?”

I ask the Lord every day, “What would You like me to do today? What would You like? What would please You?” I’m talking to Him all the time, and I expect to hear His voice. Ask, and you shall receive (see Matthew 7:7 ).

What do you do when you’re stressed, worried, depressed, or grieving? Some people reach for comfort food, while others might choose to sleep more than usual. But what if there was a healthy way to diminish your symptoms?

Dr. Jan Patterson, who coauthored Breath for the Soul with award-winning inspirational author Phyllis Clark Nichols, shared practical advice with Healthy Living’s Lorie Johnson on letting go of what weighs you down. Not only breathing exercises, this book includes self-care tips centered around nutrition, movement, mindfulness, and spirituality.

Highlighting breathing, though, Dr. Patterson says by doing this type of exercise, “we can learn to be more relaxed, to think more rationally … treat people more kindly, and just be able to do a better job at what we’re trying to do.”

She adds that “when we take deep, slow, regular breaths using our abdomen, and not just our chest, that tells our body that we can relax. … And when we do this on a regular basis, … we’re less and less likely to be anxious.”

Dr. Patterson explained exactly how to breathe in a purposeful way, known as the “4-7-8 breath”: “Inhale for four counts. … Hold the breath for seven counts, and then exhale with a whoosh through the mouth for eight counts. And you repeat that four times and do it twice a day.” Over time, she says, “your body will become more responsive to it, and you’ll be less anxious and less stressful.”

So, now that you know how to breathe intentionally, it’s your turn to give it a try!

PLANT THE SEED OF GOD’S WORD IN YOUR HEART

“A mustard seed … grows up and becomes greater than all herbs.” ~Mark 4:31-32

God declares several times in the Bible, “Hear, O Israel.” The most important prayer in the Jewish faith begins with those words in Deuteronomy 6:4 and is called the Shema, which means “Hear.”

How we need to hear God’s Word! Jesus explained the parable of the sower by saying, “The seed is the word of God” (Luke 8:11).

Plant that seed deep in your heart, your spirit, your mind, and your body. Let it take root and grow in your life, for it brings life, health, and everything you need.

That’s because God is in His Word. The Apostle John begins his gospel by saying, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us” ( John 1:1,14).

God is in His Word. The Word can become flesh in you, and—amazingly—it can be just as

powerful in you as it was in Jesus. When you have Jesus in your heart, you have the answer to every human need. The infinite possibilities that are with Him are available to you. For Jesus said in Matthew 19:26, “With God all things are possible.”

Like a tiny mustard seed that grows into a tree, let His Word germinate in you and bring forth fruit that pleases Him. When you plant a wheat seed in a field, you expect to get wheat. When you plant a corn kernel, you expect to get corn. When you plant the Word of God, you get God, for He is in His Word. He is the healer. He is love. He is salvation. He is all of these things.

So, let the living Word of God be made flesh in you. Let Him fill your life and become your all in all today and always. May God bless you.
