Q. What has been your most memorable moment you’ve had in your career?
A. While there have been many memorable and special experiences on the road over the years, one that comes to mind immediately happened last summer. I was on tour with Dave Koz’ Summer Horns which featured Dave, Mindi Abair, Kirk Whalum and myself. We had the distinct honor of playing at the Hollywood Bowl to over 10,000 people and it was an experience like no other! super late nights and super early morning flights. It’s crucial to always be getting as much sleep as you can, as well and eating and hydrating often.
Q. Thanks for interviewing with us, tell everyone who you are and what you do.
A. My pleasure! My name is Vincent Ingala, and I am an urban-jazz multiinstrumentalist. I enjoy producing music in the studio and going on the road to perform and entertain.
Q. What made you want to pursue a career in Jazz?
A. I have been surrounded by music and have been playing music since as far back as I can remember. I was playing on the local scene all through high school and paying dues. Overtime, things started to progress on a more national level where I would get requests for appearances at jazz festivals all over the country, and things then progressed from there. It was a slow gradual process that took time, but my strong passion for music made it easy to enjoy each step of the process.
Q. Let’s talk about “Fire & Desire” and the motivation behind the album?
A. This album was recorded in 2020, when most musicians had nothing but time to create and write music since touring was not possible. As a result, I was able to pour all of my time and energy into this project with our any distractions and bring some fresh new creations and ideas to life.
Q. Tell us a little about your tour and what we can expect?
A. I am currently on tour this summer with guitarist, Peter White, as well as doing a handful of my own shows with
Q. If you could go anywhere in the world to perform, where would you go?
A. Believe it or not, I have yet to play in Hawaii. It has been on my bucket list to play there for years, but to get to play in a paradise such as Hawaii would be the icing on the cake. One day!
Q. What challenges and hurdles have you’ve been through being in this industry?
A. Being on the road can have its challenges at times and is often cited as the most challenging aspect of the business. Sometimes our travel schedules are hectic and can require
Q. Tell us one fun fact about yourself?
A. In my spare time, I enjoy cooking, as well as landscaping in the yard as a way to relax when not on the road. Being outside and in the wilderness is such a liberating experience, especially during the New England spring and summer months when the weather is warm.
Q. Are you working on any projects for 2022?
A. I am not currently working on any new music at this time, but rather focusing on touring heavily and being out on the road promoting “Fire & Desire.” After a long hiatus regarding Covid in 2020, it’s such blessing to be able to return to live performances.
