A. I am the one the only1jackieb. I am a Singer, Songwriter, and SpeakLyfe Advocate. I encourage people to own their dopeness while connecting to the source through words and music. I am from Milwaukee, WI, and have been a GA native for almost 8 years now.
Q. What first got you into music?
A. I got into music when I was 9 yrs. old. Originally starting out listening to rap music. My oldest brother wrote my lyrics for me. Later, TLC came out and I discovered I could sing. Singing became my ultimate go-to throughout my career ever since.
Q. How would you describe the music that you typically create?
A. Life pivoting. I am a thought provoker. I am always thinking of how impactful I can be with each song. Not to say every song must be deep. But it must invoke change on a positive level. Even if it is a notso-good moment.
Q. Who would you most like to collaborate with?
A. Teyana Taylor, Snoh Aalegra, Lucky Daye, Yebba. The list can go on and on, but Teyana Taylor is the TOP PRIORITY!
Q. What is one of your most memorable moments you’ve had in your career?
A. Opening for LL Cool J in Milwaukee, WI at Summerfest which is the world’s largest music festival.
Q. Let us talk about “SpeakLyfe Talks” and the motivation behind it?
A. “SpeakLyfe” began as just a saying I used frequently via hashtag on social media when I saw other people speaking positively on their platforms. It was later given to me as a title back in early 2017. I began operating under the title and brand. In 2020 I released a single entitled “SpeakLyfe” which is available on all streaming platforms highlighting police brutality and the pandemic within the black community. With “Speaklyfe” elevating and the daily conversations I would have with many people about being a better individual and more, I was offered to start a podcast. Like people really wanted to hear my point of view on life. I put it off for a while. 2021, I launched “SpeakLyfe Talks” lol. Now if someone were to ask me am I certified? I tell them immediately NO! My job is not to diagnose anyone’s situation or make/force them into decision-making. That is not the goal. The goal is to see yourself through conversation. Be gentle with yourself. Learn to forgive yourself first. That is the start of the long and ongoing healing journey or process as we all call it.
Q. Where do you see yourself in the next three years?
A. In the next three years, I will see the “SpeakLyfe” Brand on TV covering many areas of life, hosting retreats, music events, and seminars, and assisting many in their healing journey on a massive scale. I view my vision to be the likes of Lisa Nichols. She is highly inspirational and very personable to me. I admire people who live in their truth authentically.
Q. What is one fun fact about yourself?
A. As I stated earlier. I would have been a rapper before becoming a singer. So yeah, I am cold with the flow lol. But seriously... I am.
Q. If you could perform anywhere in the world, where would it be?
A. I will perform everywhere in the world. I no longer think in a manner of if it could happen. I know it will. Africa will always be first and then wherever the wind takes me from there. I choose the path of least resistance as I manifest these things.
Q. Do you have any upcoming projects or events?
A. I cannot speak on much right now, but all info will be available to the public on my website at www.speaklyfetalks.com.
Q. Where can the readers follow you?
A. Follow me everywhere @ only1jackieb and @justspeaklyfe on all platforms.
WIB, I thank you for the opportunity to chat and I will tell y’all and the world as I tell myself daily.
Remember to speaklyfe into yourself and others. Most importantly, remember to speaklyfe into yourself first because if you don’t believe in what you are saying, how can you expect anyone else to believe it?
