This week Cecil County had four wrestlers win their weight class in the UCBAC Championships. All four are from Rising Sun High School where they are coached by Seth Garvin. (pictured).
All four will be looking to add Regional Champ to their list of accomplishments this coming weekend when they wrestle at Queen Anne’s High School for the chance to go to the State Tournament.

their press defense forced several turnovers, resulting in a 15-3 run for the remainder of the quarter en route to a 40-22 lead.
“Our defense locked up really well in the second quarter and forced some turnovers, but their coach made some adjustments in the second half and went
back to the press,” Haack said. “We weren’t patient enough and forced it to the sidelines. They forced some really good turnovers and knocked the wind out of our sails in the third quarter.”
The Indians outscored the Mustangs 8-6 in the fourth quarter, but that was not enough as their deficit was too big to overcome, resulting in a 46-30 loss.
Alaina Foran and Reagan Hassell scored eight points each for North East, and head coach Matt Haack says there are a couple of things the Indians can learn from this game as they head to the playoffs.
“One thing that we can learn is when we face adversity, such as when a team makes an adjustment like switching to the press,
we have the confidence to say ‘we’re good, step up, get it across half court and be patient,’” Haack said. “When we were in the half court, we were hanging just fine. Hopefully, we can have a fast start in the playoffs and play better against the press.”
