KENTUCKY DERBY ROADTRIP WITH SCOTT & KARINA SERIO

- CONTINUED FROM B COVER -

“Run for the Roses” can be a grind of waking up every morning at 5am and heading out in the dark to find the moments that are part of the journey that ends up crowning horse racing’s next superstar. In year’s past, horses with Maryland connections like Native Dancer or Cecil County trainee Animal Kingdom won on the first Saturday in May. This year’s winner had no local connections

beyond the photographers who photographed him working out in the mornings all week long and then as he stormed down the stretch for a jaw-dropping win. Take a photographic journey with Team Serio into what life is like on the backstretch at Churchill Downs during Derby Week and then during the two biggest days of horse racing in Kentucky – Oaks and Derby Day.
