he 100% Motor Classics Magazine talks about everything related to old and special vehicles. Since maintenance tips, flea market, events to valuable car’s collections. Its idea came from the great admiration José Carlos Finardi and Valdeci Arrais have for such machines. Finardi had a TV show of this segment and is passionate about it. He even bought Brazil’s first 100% national car’s factory, The Automóveis Presidente. Meanwhile, Valdeci is an old car collector and is part of the Autoshow Collection fair. He also was a member of Finardi’s TV show. Thus, they’ve noticed a lack of magazines about such subject. Moreover, some of their friends that also appreciate these vehicles wanted to see more about them in the predecessor magazine, pioneer in interactivity, the 100% Motor. However, these two involvement were so big that a new publication was necessary. It’s monthly, online and also interactive. It’s possible to access sites, videos and many other medias by pointing the Cem Por Cento Interativa app

to this magazine’s pictures. In the online version, they can just be clicked. In order to follow this magazine, point the app to the photo bellow and press “Follow” when it opens or just stay tuned for 100% Motor’s Fan Page publications.

Maybe even have air conditioning, hydraulic steering, but the actual trip wasn’t going to be as charming, ‘cool’ or have this ‘hippie’ thing for which we fell in love for”.

This Maria Filomena can get quite far with its

Unfortunately, Breja Maria will stay out of the

Maverick GT Power and performance with the 302 V8, kit stroker and Nitro. Text: Rafael Pires Photos: Rafael Pires

F

ord started production of their Maverick GT a little before the

seventies oil crises. Their idea was manufacturing a compact, cheap and economic car, but that was also way ahead of competition.

Maverick was released in 1969

and had fifteen color options. It was announced as ideal for young couples or as a second car for the house. However, only got to Brazil in 1973.

Here, there were three versions.

The Super, Super-Luxury and the GT. This last one was top notch, its production was limited and also really expected.

This vehicle was equipped

Engine transplant Omega goes into surgery and gets BMW engine. Text: Rafael Pires Photos: Rafael Pires

T

he Chevrolet Omega was released in Brazil back in 1992. It was assembled at the brand’s factory in São Caetano do Sul.

This car brought new technologies for the time being Brazilian fleet. It has an aerodynamic design, great performance, security, comfort and finishing quality.

There’s an Omega at Sergio Performance’s

workshop that went through an engine transplant. Before this surgery its engine was originally a 3.0 L with six cylinders. So, in order to gain more power a turbo was installed. However, it started braking all the time. Sergio, vehicles preparer responsible for the operation said: “The pieces weren’t good. So the car wasn’t doing well. Besides all that, its gear also used to break a lot”.

That’s when the owner took his vehicle

at Sergio’s workshop. He wanted to resolve such issues. Sergio explained: “When we were deciding what to do I took some measurements 28

30

and noticed that a 900 HP BMW engine would fit there. This was more powerful than the previous one and as the owner’s idea was power gain, he agreed to go with it”.

Sergio have been working on this car for

quite some time. Many changes were made. Its gear was replaced by a BMW one as well. Nevertheless, all that is missing now is setting up the electronic injection whip and start the car.

It’s predicted that this vehicle should have

400 aspired HP and that will be very interesting to drive. Omega’s performance added with a such a powerful BMW engine have everything to work out fine.

Dodge Passion Cleber and Marcelo’s old car’s collection Text: Rafael Pires Photos: Rafael Pires/Milton Miagusco

Cleber Bocchi collects old cars together with his brother Marcelo. They have a special place to keep them. It is an all stylized garage with many vehicles. There, they pass many hours restoring and enjoying their cars. Two collection jewels are the Dodge Charger 68 and the Dodge Dart GT convertible 67. Cleber said that his passion for the Charger 68 began when he was young. He explained: “I saw this car a movie called Bullit of the same year and I’ve always wanted one”. However, due to Brazil’s importation politics he took a few years to get it. Nevertheless, Cleber started searching for this car. He found out only one Charger existed in the country and that it had been a prize of a promotion made in 1960 by Toddy a chocolate milk brand. He said: “This was the only Charger here for years. I even looked for it. There was a legend that said there was a hidden second one. It was a lie”. His passion was so tremendous that he tracked this car’s whereabouts. Found out about old owners and what happened to it. Today, he still knows where it is. Howsoever, when importation of old cars was liberated in 2001, Cleber didn’t waste any time and went after his Charger 68. He knew it was possible to import cars, but it wasn’t a common practice so there was some insecurity. He explained: “Back then I was afraid the IRS would block it. I even saw on TV that a Super V stayed there for 15 years and end up auctioned”. Little time after that a friend of his from Campinas bought a Dodge from United States and everything worked out. That’s what Cleber needed. So, in 2007 he looked tirelessly for a Charger 32

on Ebay’s website. When he found it, the seller lived in Nebraska. He had decided to sell his car because of the financial crises that was happening. He needed money for agricultural equipments. His car was used only in weekends and was well conserved. It already had command, 900 cfm Quadriget 34

carburetor, dimensioned scape collector, rear shock absorbers regulated by pressure that could raise the car’s back part to give it more power and many other preparations. But, it wasn’t black. “All black Chargers I found were over my budget and I really wanted one because of the movie. In the end, this car also had a Big

Block, which I wanted. So, I said to myself, this is the one. I’ll paint it after”. The car was bought in Ebay’s auction at March 31th in 2008 and in September 3th it arrived. Some pieces where replaced, just to bring it as close as possible to the original. And, of course, Cleber painted it black.

When it arrived his brother Marcelo said: “Cleber never even waited the winch man leave. He grabbed the car and began driving. He looked like a child that just got a present. In order for him to stop the guy had to remind him he was still there and had to be payed”. The convertible Dodge Dart Gt wasn’t easy to

import as well. Cleber explained: “I was dubious about a blue Coronet 68 with whit interior and this Dart. When I’ve tried to get the Coronet everything was already set up, but the seller wasn’t its actual owner. He was a relative. In the end, I guess this kinsman decided not

to sell because I was going to take the car out of the United States. I even tried to make it look like I wasn’t. Told the importer to give his address, but didn’t worked. So I bought the Dart”. Before its arrival Cleber wanted to replace its

engine for a V8. This one that would came had a six cylinder machine. Still, after testing it, he decided to leave it as it was. The Dart was so good that he felt pity to mess around. Also, this motorization is rare in Brazil. Latter, his dart won a prize in an old cars fair

from Águas de Lindóia. However, according to Cleber going out with this one its smoother than with the Charger. “The GT gets some attention, but it doesn’t have all that publicity the movie ‘Fast and Furious” gave the other one”.
