As we celebrate Black History Month with triumphant stories from the past, it's critically important that we acknowledge the work of local Black leaders committed to actively addressing harmful conditions that exist in many Rochester neighborhoods--primarily where Black residents live, learn, and play.
Leading the work to build up Black communities can be complicated, demanding, and in all, impossible without appropriate financial support. Thanks to the leadership of U.S. Senate Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer and U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand in securing more than $250 Million for the Rochester-Finger Lakes region through the Omnibus Spending Package, four Rochester Black women leaders - Reenah Golden, Dr. LaShunda Leslie-Smith, Olivia KassoumAmadou and Wanda Ridgeway - can agree that this is what equitable action looks like.
When Reenah Golden founded and strategically placed Avenue Blackbox Theatre in 2018 in the heart of the historic Joseph Avenue neighborhood, she filled a 48 year void of performing arts spaces in the northeast quadrant. The theatre is the first and only performing arts venue in the northeast district of Rochester. The Avenue Blackbox Theatre offers affordable, culturally rich experiences curated by artists of color, youth, LGBTQIA+ and those traditionally marginalized or silenced.
Through the Omnibus Spending Package, Golden secured The Avenue a $750K grant to sustain enhance youth and educational programming, create full-time and part-time jobs, and

It’s another early exit from the Playoffs and Buffalo Bills brain trust must roll up their sleeves and rebuild this team for a championship run.
The mistakes by Head Coach Sean McDermott and General Manager Brandon Beane must be overcome. For starters they paid Josh Allen a year early when they did not have to along with trading their 22nd draft pick to the Minnesota Vikings for Stefan Diggs. It’s a great trade for the short term but in the long run the Bills should have held on to the pick and selected Justin Jefferson. He’s now regarded as one of the best wide receivers in the NFL and most importantly still on his rookie contract and would have allowed the Bills to sign key players to the team. Bills GM Brandon Beane signed tight end Dawson Knox to a hefty contract extension during training camp instead of working on a deal for Middle Linebacker Tremaine Edmunds. The Baltimore Ravens have signed their newly acquired Middle Linebacker Roquan Smith to the highest contract for a Middle Linebacker in the NFL. I see Tremaine Edmunds leaving the Bills to a team like the New York Giants to become the next highest paid linebacker. The Bills must revamp their entire offensive line by not resigning center Mitch Morse, guard Roger Saffold, and possibly often injured tackle Spencer Brown. The Bills major problem is several of their recent draft picks have not panned out. AJ Espensa has been a bust on the defensive side of the ball along with the slow development of Greg Rosseau has hampered the defensive front where a 34-year-old man Von Miller was leading the way. The Bills must also deal with Ed Oliver’s contract extension along with 21 free agents. Continued Page 4

University District Council Member Rasheed N.C. Wyatt has put forth a resolution that calls for the New York State Department of Transportation to install Emergency Mechanical Arms along Route 33 in the City of Buffalo.
In the resolution, it states that during the Christmas Blizzard of 2022 some community members still tried to drive during the worst parts of this storm on this vital route, got stuck and were not able to safely exit Route 33.
With Route 33 being a vital route for many within the City of Buffalo and the surrounding community, Wyatt is calling for collaboration with the New York State Department of Transportation advocating for the ‘emergency mechanical arms’ on route 33 that would assist in limiting traffic during future winter weather storms and emergencies.
The main objective of this resolution is to ensure that all residents are kept out of harm’s way during such hazardous weather conditions.
The Buffalo Municipal Housing Authority (BMHA) Board of Commissioners has unanimously approved a 10% rent increase for its 616-unit Marine Drive Apartments development.
The increase is expected to take effect in early 2024. Rents at the development were increased by 10% in December 2019.
BMHA Executive Director Gillian D. Brown said the rent boost at Marine Drive is financially necessary, and that even with the increase Marine Drive Apartments will still be running at a deficit.
uneral services were held for 29-year-old Tyre Nichols at Mississippi Boulevard Christian Church in Memphis on Wednesday. Tyre died three days after five Black police officers brutally beat him at a traffic stop on Jan. 7. So far, six police officers have been suspended for their involvement in Nichols’ death. The five Black officers have been fired and charged with second-degree murder. They are due in court on February 17 for their arraignment.

-Rev. Danté Stewart-
"I saw two officers kicking him the way we used to get burned and lynched,” writer and speaker Rev. Danté Stewart said in an interview soon after viewing the horrifying video. “They had no pity.
“That was more than police brutality," he continued. "That was a lynching. They wanted to kill him because, in some sense, lynching is about the spectacle. It's about what someone with power does to another human being to ride and rid them of every ounce of their dignity and put it in the public ...
“When those in the past put Black people up on the noose, it was a message to them: This is our estimation of your life, and much more, this is our hatred of your life. And when Tyre Nichols was beaten and the just immense disregard to him, it showed us in public once again the estimation of Black life, White racism and White supremacy.”
Rev. Stewart also pointed out that “Just because Black people are present doesn't mean anti-Blackness is absent.”
He continued: “History tells the story that it doesn't matter who has the badge. The badge has power that whiteness has given it in the world, whether one is able to stop a person because they believe that they are criminal or they believe they're in the wrong place, or they believe that they shouldn't be doing what they're doing. That is a power that has been given to them, that has been inherited from the inception of this nation.
“As a Black person, when I get the badge, or when I get the ball, my race is in some sense under the shadow and the covering of it. So it doesn't matter who it is. It is about what policing has meant and has done to us and continues to do to us. So, yes, the historical record shows that no matter who they are or where they come from, policing does something to people in this country. We know it and we better deal with it.”
-Eulogy-
Civil Rights leader Rev. AL Sharpton, who delivered the eulogy at Tyre’s funeral, had harsh words for the Black officers charged with the Killing.
“In a city where Dr. King gave his life, not far away from that balcony, you beat a brother to death.
“There’s nothing more insulting and offensive, to those of us that fight to open doors that you walked through, (for you to) act like the folks we had to fight for to get you through them doors. You didn’t get on the police department by yourself,” Sharpton said. Sharpton said he believes that if Nichols had been White “you wouldn’t have beat him like that,” referring to the five former officers...."All he wanted to do was go home."
“You don’t fight crime by becoming criminals yourself… That ain’t the police. That’s punks.”
“In the city where they killed the dreamer (Dr. King), what has happened to the dream? The city where the dreamer laid down and shed his blood, you have the unmitigated gall to beat your brother, chase him down and beat him some more?"
He compared the incident to the biblical story about Joseph who was thrown in the pit by his own brothers and nobody came to help him – “like nobody came to help Tyre.”
"I come to Memphis today to tell you the same mistake Joseph’s brothers made is the mistake you made. You thought you threw Joseph in a pit…Dr. King’s dream in a pit… …but every time you throw something in a pit God takes the pit and raises it up and changes the whole world."
Sharpton vowed to keep fighting and called for the passage of the George Floyd Justice and Policing Act no mater how long it takes. The legislation would ban choke holds and end qualified immunity for law enforcement. It would also prohibit racial and religious profiling.
Vice President Kamala Harris who made remarks at the funeral, also called on Congress to pass the George Floyd Justice and Policing Act.

"Tough on crime" laws have put an unprecedented number of non-violent offenders behind bars and our neighborhoods feel no more secure. This system has deep roots in slavery.
The origins of modern-day policing can be traced back to the "Slave Patrol." The earliest formal slave patrol was created in the Carolinas in the early 1700s with one mission: to establish a system of terror and squash slave uprisings with the capacity to pursue, apprehend, and return runaway slaves to their owners. Tactics included the use of excessive force to control and produce desired slave behavior.
Slave Patrols continued until the end of the Civil War and the passage of the 13th Amendment. Following the Civil War, during Reconstruction, slave patrols were replaced by militia-style groups who were empowered to control and deny access to equal rights to freed Africans. They relentlessly and systematically enforced Black Codes, strict local and state laws that regulated and restricted access to labor, wages, voting rights, and general freedoms for formerly enslaved people.
In 1868, ratification of the 14th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution technically granted equal protections to African Americans — essentially abolishing Black Codes. Jim Crow laws and state and local statutes that

Kiwi is the familiar little brown fuzzy skinned fruit that's bright green on the inside and deliciously tangy to the tastebuds (unless really ripe). But did you know it also has a sweeter, softer and less acidic variety that's yellow on the inside? Both types will add to your healthy lifestyle and can help combat / prevent illness.
Like most fruits the kiwi is loaded with beneficial vitamins, (more C than an orange), minerals, antioxidants and flavonoids. The fruit is rich in iron and also contains enzymes that act as a super aid in digestion and helps reduce acid reflux flare ups. ( I've tried them for this and it's true and works!) Eating kiwi also helps with elimination. On the prevention front, including them regularly in your regiment can help combat osteoarthritis, asthma, rheumatoid arthritis and cancer.
Kiwi also has compounds that act like blood thinners similar to aspirin! It's truly a powerful fruit and you can find them year round at Lexington Co-Op, Wegmans,Tops among other markets. The next time you slice open a Kiwi let the vibrant insides add a little color therapy to your life and don’t worry about the little black seeds; those beauties are loaded with omega3 fatty acids that are excellent for cognitive and heart health. Why wait, give this powerful tiny wonder-fruit a try! Enjoy Good Health.
"Kitchen Medicine," presented by Bru Apothecary in collaboration with Salud Market, will be held on Monday February 6th from 4-7p.m. at Salud Market, 1832 Main St., Buffalo.

According to research it has been found that about 8% of Black Americans are vegan or vegetarian, compared to only about 3% of other Americans.

The Cincinnati Bengals continued to poke the sleeping bear (Chiefs) by calling them Arrowhead Stadium, Burrowhead stadium, along with other disrespectful comments throughout the week leading up to the game. The Kansas City Chiefs with MVP QB Patrick Mahomes (who is everything Josh Allen is not) put on another magical performance on one leg in the second half to lead his team to a 23-20 win over the Bengals. The Chiefs all-pro defensive tackle Chris Jones said : “Don’t Ever Disrespect Arrowhead Stadium at G-E-H-A. We’re not a team that talks, we’re not a team that taunts. We just go out and play the game respectfully.” That’s what the Chiefs did in winning the AFC Championship game. Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval got into the disrespect act by saying “Joe Burrow is Mahomes father and that Kansas City is named after another state, that’s really weird. ” What’s weird is that a mayor would go that far with disrespectful talk. Mayor Pureval did apologize for his foolish banter after a backlash of negative news stories regarding his statements during a Proclamation Day for the Bengals.
I also predicted that The Philadelphia Eagles, led by their Head Coach and Western New York native Nick Siranni of Ellicottville, NY would put a beat down on an injury plagued San Francisco 49’ers team (final score 31 – 7). This game was over before halftime when the 49’ers QB’s Brock Purdy and backup Josh Johnson were both injured in the game. The Eagles defense is very physical and young QB Jalen Hurts did not turn over the football with a strong running game. ” We’ve got new moments,” Hurts said, “new moments and new times.” Hurts led the soaring Eagles with one of the four rushing touchdowns in the game. This Super Bowl LVII will be a breath of fresh air with Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid going up against his former team that he could never get over the top. I will have my prediction in my next edition along with coverage from Phoenix, Arizona.

racial segregation swiftly took their place. By the 1900s, local municipalities began to establish police departments to enforce local laws in the East and Midwest, including Jim Crow laws. Local municipalities leaned on police to enforce and exert excessive brutality on African Americans who violated any Jim Crow law. Jim Crow Laws continued through the end of the 1960s. Canna-House that’s what!
After years of hard work and participating in a number of local events surrounding the cannabis plant, Buffalo’s own Canna House, a leading New York State cannabis lifestyle-resource center, maps Buffalo in the scheme of the first ever Consumption Park being held this year in Phoenix, Arizona February 10-12.
The Consumption Park Cannabis Experience is a 15acre cannabis festival that will take place just minutes away from the site of this years Super Bowl.
Through the lens of founder and Director of Strategic Advancement Reggie Keith, Valentino Shine Jr. Director of Brand Strategy and Richard Keith II, Director of Product Development, opportunities flow sky high. They aim to disrupt the cannabis industry by serving as a community resource within the legalized market by helping to reshape the narrative of the plant and advance consumer knowledge. At the same time they'll be working on becoming a synonymous name for safe consumption spaces led by a Black male collective. In other words, Canna House is all up in the joint!
The Snowy Day And Other Stories is on stage at Theatre of Youth every Saturday and Sunday 2p.m. until February 5. For tickets go to theatreofyouth.org Don't Miss It!

With the Consumption Park just minutes away from the stadium where #TheBigGame will be held, the club will be showcasing their brand of THC infused product lines, “Dirty Lemonade” and “Herb and Jane Premium Secret Sauces.” Accompanying those flagship products will be the delectable stylings of Chef Rich’s Authentic Buffalo Wings and the curated sounds of Buffalo’s Own DJ Spin. Bringing their signature Super V.I.B.E ( Very Intentional Black Experience) Live to Consumption Park Super Bowl weekend, this savvy group offers a wealth of not only experience, knowledge of the plant, and what is said to be A+ products, but they work with deep rooted purpose, striving to provide Black male access to this ever emerging industry.
“This experience will provide the ultimate consumption sessions featuring unique cannabis vendors, popups, infused foods, on-site marijuana consumptions, interactive games, comedy sessions, live music, podcasts and celebrity appearances," said Valentino Shine Jr.
Founder Reggie Keith believes in the importance of Consumption Park and what it could mean for bridging the gap with professional sports. He said in a recent interview, “this represents the historic dawning of a new day. An era where professional sports begins to embrace cannabis as an asset vs a liability; birthing a world of opportunity and a broadening spectrum for plant based solutions. The impact this will have on both Canna House and the industry as a whole is hard to put into words. I’ll say this though, in the words of Queen Coretta Scott King, 'It doesn’t matter how strong your opinions are. If you don’t use your power for positive change, you are indeed part of the problem.' We are excited to be on the right side of History.”
During the announcement of their participation Majority Leader Assemblywoman Crystal People-Stokes expressed her support for the group and the movement she has been leading the charge for here in New York State.
"I'm excited for Reggie and his business,” she said. “I am excited this society has decided to move forward and acknowledge a plant for what it is as opposed to designating it a drug. I'm also excited this legislation not only created businesses, but requires business opportunity for people of color; those who have been most negatively impacted by mass incarceration and the war on drugs.”
The group has also announced employment opportunities as well as plans to work with a select number of cannabis business owners of color to engage in professional development and hands on training here in WNY. Their V.I.B.E. Mentee program strives to provide seven mentee spots to
cannabis enthusiast of color which in turn they feel will add value to the community through cannabis advocacy, education, safe spaces, and product awareness.
Stay tuned as we keep you updated on what they are up to. Erie County Legislature Chair April N. M. Baskin last week co-hosted the premiere of the documentary, “Two Wars: Road to Integration.” Baskin provided funding to the Erie County Naval & Military Park last year because she believed this was an important, untold story. The event was held at Shea’s Smith Theater and more than 100 Black and Latino veterans RSVP’d to attend the premiere and a pre-film cocktail party as special guests of Chair Baskin.
The film was written and directed by Steven Tedesco, Director of Education at the Naval & Military Park and featured Dr. Kanasha Blue, who is a member of the board. The documentary is the latest example of attempts by the Naval & Military Park President Paul Marzello and board member Casimiro Rodriguez to diversify the representation of veterans of ethnic backgrounds throughout the Naval Park. The documentary can be viewed in the Naval Park’s Youtube @BuffaloNavalPark and is paired with an exhibit that is currently being showcased at the park.
“As a local leader one of my greatest gifts is the stories told to me by Erie County’s own history making citizens.," said Legislator Baskin. " I was proud to deliver funding to the Buffalo and Erie County Naval & Military Park to produce this documentary showcasing the forgotten stories of our local war heroes, whose service to this country, not only shaped their generation, but made it possible for many of us to stand where we stand today. These individuals served honorably yet returned home to a nation that denied them opportunities to attend college, own homes and establish businesses - opportunities that their white colleagues were able to take advantage of to secure a foothold in the middle class. This documentary tells the stories of those local heroes and how they feel about their service to this nation. This is an important part of the story of our community and the challenges faced by these veterans impacts how we live today.”

Theme: “How has Black Resistance been shown in Buffalo?”
Black Resistance has been the efforts to advocate for a dignified, self-determined life in a just democratic society in the United States. The 1950s and 1970s were defined by actions such as sit-ins, boycotts, walk outs, strikes by Black people and White allies in the fight for justice against discrimination in all sectors of society from employment to education to housing. Black people have had to consistently push the United States to live up to its ideals of freedom, liberty, and justice for all. Black people have sought ways to nurture and protect Black lives, and for autonomy of their physical and intellectual bodies through education, literature, sports, media, and legislation/politics. Black led institutions and affiliations have lobbied, litigated, legislated, protested, and achieved success. -Adopted from the Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH.org)
In recent times in Buffalo, there have been events that involved the senseless loss of Black lives: the Jefferson Tops Massacre and the December ‘22 blizzard. Consider modern Black Resistance methods as you answer some of the questions in your essay.
•In what ways has social media impacted how Black people advocate for themselves and implement Black Resistance?
•How did former methods (sit-ins, boycotts, marches) of Black Resistance help prepare for the modern methods (hashtags such as # BLM, online petitions, Tik Toks, hacktivism, etc.)
•How did Blacks in Buffalo react to the Tops massacre and/or blizzard?
•Have methods of Black Resistance been successful in your opinion? Why? Why not?
•What are your suggestions to move the country forward towards more equality?
•What changes would you like to see in your neighborhood? The essay is open to all students in grades 7-12 in Western New York. Essays must be received by SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 18, 2023 at the Frank E. Merriweather Library at 1324 Jefferson Avenue or emailed to: AAHANFWoodson@gmail.com. Your NAME, ADDRESS, TELEPHONE #, SCHOOL, GRADE AND EMAIL must be written on your essay. There is still nothing that can ease the pain of the Buffalo Bills failing to advance to the Super Bowl in a season that started with such promise, but ended in such misery. Somehow, the AFC championship game between the Kansas City Chiefs and the Cincinnati Bengals seemed oddly lacking with the Bills’ red, white and blue colors absent from the playing field. Nevertheless, the Chiefs and Bengals engaged in what has already become an instant classic that may have also slightly reshuffled the quarterback deck, leaving Patrick Mahomes still the top dog.
However, replacing Josh Allen, for the moment at least, as the second card up is Joe Burrow, who more than earned his nickname, “Joe Cool.”
But what now stands out as the most significant aspect of this Super Bowl contest is the historic nature of the game and the fact it is the first time in NFL history that two Black quarterbacks will square off against each other in a Super Bowl game. In this contest, Mahomes will be facing the upstart Jalen Hurts, the quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles, who has emerged this year as a force to be reckoned with.
Indeed, this matchup could well be billed as the pre-Valentine’s Day battle of the “chocolate” quarterbacks. There is no question in my mind that Mahomes (‘white chocolate’) versus Hurts (‘milk chocolate’) will represent a “sweet” Super Bowl matchup. Of course, if your preference leans more toward ‘dark chocolate,’ then you’ll just have to wait on Lamar Jackson to make it to a Super Bowl of his own. But until then, Mahomes and Hurts are the last two pieces left in the candy box.
In a time not so long ago, the Black quarterback did not exist in the NFL. It was widely assumed by the white NFL establishment that Blacks did not have the “necessaries” to play the QB position in the NFL. Not only did they lack the intelligence, but they also lacked the ability to consistently play from the pocket and be a “pass first” quarterback.
Of course, those Neanderthal days are now long gone, as evidenced by the fact that we’ve now got two Black QBs leading their respective teams, as they play for all the marbles in Super Bowl LVII. Black quarterbacks are now sprinkled throughout the league and some of them, like Hurts, Jackson and Justin Fields, have brought a new dimension to the game. That is to say, they have the ability to be equally dangerous running with the ball, as well as passing it. That is a singular characteristic of this new breed of Black quarterbacks. With the notable exception of Josh Allen, no one seems to do both quite as well as the Brothers.
Although my rooting interest is almost always with the AFC team, I believe Philly has the better overall squad. However, after watching Patrick Mahomes and his seemingly indomitable spirit, evident by the fact that he played brilliantly on practically one leg, I have to believe that he and the Chiefs will bring home the Lombardi Trophy.
On Monday night January 30, 2023, around 10:30 pm, I came upon a very disturbing situation on Genesee Street. A little Black boy approximately 6-7 years old, wearing only underwear (no pants, shirt, socks, shoes, or coat) and his backpack was running and criss-crossing the Genesee Bailey area from Colorado to Leslie St., crossing Bailey and back to Genesee St., then south on Bailey to Moeller St. The little boy was a very fast runner, very agile, unresponsive to verbal cues, and seemingly disoriented and unaffected by the freezing temperatures and ankle deep snow.
After repeated calls to 911 for help, multiple u-turns and pleas to the boy to let me help him, unfortunately I lost sight of him around Moeller and Bailey St.
The Police did finally reach the Moeller/Bailey area and began their search but I don’t know the outcome.
I’m writing this article first and foremost because I’m concerned about this little guy's well-being and want to know if he’s okay. If you have any information please contact the Challenger at 716881-1051.
Growing up in the 60’s and 70’s, every night, households all over the city were graced with a question from an ominous voice on TV : "It’s 11 o’clock, do you know where your children are?” By the Grace of God, the answer in our house was always yes followed by “now go to bed!”
Today life is very different, children are mini-adults, they don’t have the protections, empathy, and hope that we had growing up. It’s incumbent on everyone who reads this article to TAKE BACK OUR LIVES AND RESTORE OUR VILLAGES!
I’m simply a loving auntie of 14 nieces and nephews who wants the best for Our Community! -B. Ruth
Another Black man fell victim to the power of police brutality during a traffic stop gone terribly wrong.
It sickened me to view the mother of Tyre Nichols watch the body cam and the cameras in the surrounding area show the unmerciful beating her son endured at the hands of five Black cops. He succumbed to his injuries three days later.
When is this madness going to end? When are law makers in the federal, state, county and city governments going to write legislation to protect the people with legislation of police accountability. It is very disturbing when you see over zealous White cops beat, maim and murder Black community members. It's even more disturbing when the cops are Black. The reaction of the community should be the same reaction of a black man falling victim to homicide at the hands of a Black cop as if a White cop committed the heinous act.
I send my heartfelt condolences to Tyre Nichols' family. I also send this message to all Black cops and future Black cops. If you think you can kill a Black man with your body cam activated and in view of other cameras on poles, then you must be the dumbest fool to think that you can get away with that in this day and age. It took not very long to terminate and charge these five Black cops, as compared to the time it took to terminate and charge the cop who murdered George Floyd.
We the people. Race First! We must unite and become of one mind and not allow those that we elect to represent us to act like clowns. My one question is what is taking so long for the DOJ, state, county and local governments to act on this similar types of behavior/crimes within our city law enforcement agencies across the country. I already know why it's a slow process here in Buffalo. Everybody from the second floor to the chambers of the Common Council is scared of the police union. Have they all forgotten that the police union reports to the mayor and or Common Council? What does the police union have on them? Hmmmmm Im just saying.
I pray that if there are protests they will be peaceful. I pray for Justice for Tyre's family and all those families that have gone through the cruel and harsh pain of a child slain at the hands of fools who take an oath to protect and serve a community and instead do just the opposite.
In conclusion, I look back at all the programs that I have seen and participated in growing up like the P.A.L. (Police Athletic League) . These programs are ways to create better relations with law enforcement and communities. So question, how do you reach out to a child, or for that matter an adult, ask people to participate in book bag give aways and community relations building, when a child learns that his brother or dad or an uncle or a cousin was headed home and was stopped then beaten and died because a cop said he fit the description, or my personal favorite, that he (the cop) feared for his life.
I agree that all cops are not bad. But as good cops, if you continue to keep your mouths shut because of that "blue wall of stupid," then you're not just part of the problem, you're the biggest part of the problem.
To the pastors that are already out there on the ground, stay up. Calling on the rest of the churches - where are you all at? The people need to see you out here in these streets. We don't need you in front of cameras with all that gobble dee goop or out there trying to get favors from city hall.
We need you, the church to be out here fighting for the community.Everybody is not a criminal. Most are hard working people, educated ,decent citizens and veterans .
To our Black elected officials, have you forgotten the struggles and sacrifices of those ancestors who came before you? Stop selling out the EAST SIDE! Come on people let's come together and elect those who have our best interest at heart; which should be the first prerequisite for us to even consider giving them our vote! I'm just sayin...
I weep for young Tryee Nichols
I weep for his pain –his torture – his death I weep for his cry of “what did I do?”
I weep for his unheard plea for his Mom! Mom! Mom! I weep for his Mom who could not hear his plea I weep for his Mom who nurtured and loved him but could not save him. I weep for the others in his life who dearly loved him I weep for the future greatness he might have given us I weep, yes, I weep also for the five Black officers that brutally took his life I weep that their hearts have been poisoned by self hatred I weep that their blackness gets left in the locker room As they become blue I weep that indoctrination has taught them that they Are not of us and we are not of them I weep for their Mommas who nurtured and love them I weep that they could not save them from their own ruthless murderous fury I weep for others who may have loved them dearly I weep for our ancestors who could never envision this lynching by a mob of their kindred I weep that our children’s lives not be unjustly taken I weep for them, that they never grow to despise their own I weep… I weep… We weep… For the World.
“Our history did not begin in chains. It will not end in chains.”

Here are some of the questions that may need to be answered in the off-season.
Should the Buffalo Bills resign Tremaine Edmonds?
Is Tre White trade bait?
Is it time to move on from Micah Hyde and Jordan Poyer? What players on the defensive line will stay in Buffalo? Is this the last rodeo for Devin Singletary?
Is Dawson Knox a second contract tight end?
Will the Buffalo Bills draft an offensive lineman in the first round of the NFL Draft?
Is Leslie Frazier really on the hot seat?
Will Stefon Diggs request a trade from the Bills?
Sean McDermott and Brandon Beane will have their hands full this off-season as these are just some of the questions that linger around the organization. For more Bills news, continue to support the Rise Up Right articles.
Congratulations to the Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs as they punched their ticket to the Super Bowl. The Eagles defeated the 49ers 31-7 in Philly. The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 23-20 on a game-winning 45-yard field goal. Football Fanatics get ready for the Andy Reid Bowl as Andy Reid will face his former team and Jamestown native Nick Sirianni for the richest prize in football, the Lombardi Trophy.
