WEEK 3 READING: KRAUSS, LEGER, LE CORBUSIER AND PURISM
Question 1: What is Pictorial Space according to Le Corbusier? (Maximum 100 words) Le Corbusier defines Pictorial Space as a space viewed that cannot be judge correctly from a distance. The motion, combination of promenade and prospect, around and through the simple geometries enhances our undrestanding of it. This is proven by Le Corbusier’s la Roche -Jeanneret house complex, where one’s perspective is changed as he stands in different area of the house.
Question 2: The Flatness of Le Corbusier’s painting’s are attributable to two properties. What are they? And what are these pitted against?(Maximum 100 words) The two properties are colour and texture. They are “secondary qualities” which are substituted the role of distance or depth in the painitng - seperate between objects in real world.
