we deemed to be an ‘abandoned building’ the next question to solve was: how do we find them? The initial attempt was to go through a website containing multiple estate agencys’ listings and determine which of them were abandonded. From this we were able to map out some of the buildings, however, not all due to incorrect and absent addresses on the website. We soon realised we were missing out a lot of buildings and that we needed to use another method of retrieving data. Since these buildings were listed to be sold, they could be seen as the ‘official recognition’ of the abandoned buildings as people are trying to do something about them. Nonetheless, we quickly saw that this is an extremely small percentage of the derelict buildings in Athens.
