he 2021 Charity Horse Show Dressage Series came to a close on Friday evening having run through the summer from April. This is a yearly event for unaffiliated riders of all ages and horses and ponies at any stage of training. We run on a Friday evening fortnightly. My judges are BD judges mainly so you will be getting good professional feedback. This year we started off very busy presumably because of having no competitions during the 2020 lockdown and very few shows running so people were desperate to get their horses out competing again. The first couple of events we were run off our feet with over 60 entries but after that it quietened down and we had enough to run two arenas throughout the summer. Because of Covid we thought it sensible not to do results on the night they were all sent out the following week to avoid people gathering together.
Points are allocated to the winners of each test throughout the series and this year it was a fiercely fought affair, although one rider was way ahead she lost the ride on her horse so it gave several other riders the chance to overtake her. The eventual winner was Tash Rose on Chris Loggins Steel Away J, she won the trophy by 2 points. Josie Herridge on Pollys Boy took Reserve. Special Rosettes, provided by Naomi Fenemore of Bentoms Rosettes, were given out in several categories. Best Veteran was Aubrey Angelica and her rider Millie Baker won the Best under 14, Best under 12 was won by Annie Mynard on Molly, Best Under 16 was Faye Ogbourne on Indian Violet, and Most Promising Young Rider was Grace Patel on Brideswood Ruby Slippers. I ran 2 tests on a long arena as there were riders qualified for ROR at Blenheim who wanted to have a practice on grass. Good luck to them hope they go well there.
