IN BUSINESS
Message from the Founder/Editor
“What we’re called to do” Did you know that creating and running a business is a calling on your life? Whether you realise it or not, God has anointed you with your business and sometimes it can feel very overwhelming. As daughters of God we shouldn’t feel overwhelmed with our businesses. This is a lie and a fog that comes from the devil wanting to destroy what God has created. God’s grace is so much bigger than us feeling overwhelmed with our businesses. How do I know? Because I’ve been there myself. You might be having one of those weeks where everything seems to be going wrong, maybe you’ve had some clients leave or cancel, an unexpected bill has come in, automations that keep failing or you keep making mistakes. You’re thinking about all those things you need to get done over the next month, three months and thinking… “I can’t do this”, everything feels too much and you’re not sure if you’ve got what it takes to keep moving on. You might even be at a point where you’re thinking about selling the business. I wanted to take some time today and stand by you. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, tired and exhausted even from your business this is not what God wants. Maybe you’ve just slipped from God’s grace and taken on a few extra things that He’s not asked you to do. Remember when Peter left the boat that time to meet Jesus as He was walking on water. Peter couldn’t have walked on the water himself, he needed Jesus. When we forget to take Jesus with us in every area of our business we sometimes feel like we’re sinking too. How do we fix our eyes back on Jesus, so we start floating again? + Start your week off with some Jesus time. This could be through reading a devotional (I know a great one you can read), reading your bible and followed by some prayer and journaling. + Pray before you go into any meeting, asking Jesus to be with you through it and for it to be a win-win situation and His will be done. + Talk with Jesus throughout your day. You don’t have to be on your knees each time you want to talk to God. You can do it through your whole day in your mind, asking Him questions, talking to Him about stuff. Remember, the Holy Spirit lives in you. 1 Corinthians 3:16 Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you? Find what works for you, pass your burdens unto the Lord, submit your business worries to Him (including the financial ones) and know that God is always with you. Just remember that God does things in His timing not ours, patience is an ever-learning thing. I pray that you enjoy this issue of our CWIB Magazine as we take a look at all things marketing and give you simple tips that you can apply to your business.
You’re doing a great job, Lovely! Sarah-Jane xx www.christianwomeninbusiness.com.au

REST not hustle BY MEGAN HORSFALL
WWW.HAPPYSPLATDESIGN.COM.AU
There’s so much around in the business word right now about ‘hustling’. Hustle or you lose it, hustle hard, just hustle.... I mean really, people wear ‘busy’ like a badge of honour. I’m here to bring a new train of thought. A thought that allows you to be productive from a place of peace and rest. REST / verb 1. cease work or movement in order to relax, sleep, or recover strength. 2. be placed or supported so as to stay in a specified position. You see, rest doesn’t mean that you stop functioning and just sleep. Rest means you can continue to be productive by being in a place of where you are supported. When you are in a place where the pressure is taken off you, when your mind and body have rest, that doesn’t mean that you have to stop being productive.... We can be productive in REST!
Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; He is my fortress, I will not be shaken. Psalm 65:5-6 Allow God into your business and let Him invade your planning spaces. When you take time with God, to plan and think about your business, He will give you strategies that are unique to you and your situation. Strategies to be profitable and productive.... yet not overworked and underpaid. Forget the hustle and let God do the busy, while you find rest in Him.
Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand. Proverbs 19:21 Father God, I thank you that we know we can come to you at any time. I pray that as we dig into You and invite you into our lives and our businesses, that our minds would be open to hearing Your voice. That you would teach us strategies to enable us to work from within Your rest. That You would show us how to place personal and business boundaries in our life. That Your purpose for our Kingdom Businesses would be our most viable plan. Thank you, for all that You are and all that You do, In Jesus Precious Name, Amen.

“Putting my heart and soul into grabbing every opportunity I could, to get my name out there and be able to earn some dollars” Heading towards the ‘my kids are getting older’ stage, I started to question my own self-worth in life. Self-doubt was creeping in and starting to take hold. I felt my purpose in life slowly ebbing away. head to whether this group was the right one for me to belong to or not, I joined. This has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. Having a business support group alongside you, learning things that you never realised you needed to learn, is so valuable. The group has made me realise I don’t have to do the hard yards by myself. I have a support network – my family, friends, Christian Women in Business and God. I am now in my third year of business and the exciting news is I am about to leave the comfort and stability of my part time job at the local church. One I have been doing for over 12 years. It’s a scary thought to give this security blanket up, but there is absolutely no way I can go through another crazy season without having some extra time during the week to keep on top of things. I have come to realise one needs to schedule time out for self-care on a regular basis! It is time for me to consider more important things like my health, my family, the time needed to work within my business and making sure my clients and customers get the ‘best me’. The time is right to take that leap of faith and continue the pathway that has been set out before me.

Hello ladies! I wanted to share with you about one of my experiences while I was in Myanmar this last week. Thanks to some amazing ladies in CWIB we were able to donate a few Business Devotionals to some of the English-speaking entrepreneurs which I know has already impacted their walk with God. Plus! I had the opportunity to share with community leaders, teachers, and entrepreneurs about the power of knowing who they are. We touched on issues surrounding self-esteem, identity, and the power of community support. I spoke for over half an hour and when I was finished they said... Is that it? We thought you were just getting started! They are so hungry for more. We also gave them all each a single white rose to show them that they are loved and that each one of them is precious. This was so needed in this community that even the men wanted to be involved! If you feel you want to support a woman in Myanmar with a business devotional (which will soon be in their own language) you can buy one from CWIB and Exousia Australia will get it there!
KEEP YOURSELF AND YOUR BUSINESS GOD CENTRED WITH THIS 40 WEEKLY BUSINESS DEVOTIONAL.
Now, we are looking at getting the Beloved Business Devotional translated so many more women from Myanmar can have access to God’s word in their own language and allow Him to work through their businesses too. If you’re interested in helping raise funds to get the devotional translated, when you buy a Beloved Business Devotional choose the “One For Me – One For Her” or pick the option “One for Her” and we will put the extra funds into getting the book printed and sent to these women. The potential of a Christian life is the most untapped resource in the world today. The plans and ideas that God has for you are not confined to any one sphere.
Each of us have enormous opportunity through faith. When you live by the Word of God and act on it, the scope of your effort has no limits.

For many of us there is an idea that God only uses special people. Those who are in full time ministry or who are ‘called’ to preach the gospel, but it’s not true. There are some who believe all the work must come through the local church. Throughout history we know this is not the case either.
And what is the ‘church’? The church here is the word ‘ekklesia’. It is ‘a calling out’ or a popular meeting, assembly. It’s an assembly that Jesus is calling out. It is not a building. It is not a denomination. It is not a system. It is that group of called

PRAY Before I start my study with God I pray and ask God to help me understand the subject or story I want to study. (Have patience because He will open your eyes when you're ready to hear and learn. If it doesn’t come straight away, trust God to show you in His time)
VERSES In this day and age, we have access to all sorts of wonderful technology. So, I take advantage of that and I use Google to help me find all verses relates to the topics or subject I want to get clear on. I note them all
CHAPTERS I then find the verse in the bible and go through them one by one. I will look at whole chapters, stories in the bible so I can see the whole picture of what God is saying and the context it’s written in, not just parts of verse or sentences. If I’m unsure of words or locations, I will look them up and make sure I note the meanings down.
JOURNAL In a journal I write down my learnings, things I find interesting and any questions that come up.
One of the amazing things I love about our CWIB FB Community is that it’s a place where you can come and ask questions or discuss verses/topics. So come on over if you do have a question that comes up while you’re studying to get other people’s opinions of it and make your own mind up. For example. I studied about gossip and how to deal with it in a leadership position as I was made aware one day of people gossiping about me and a decision I had made about something. I wanted to know the Godly way of dealing with it so I could shine God’s light through the situation, protect myself, see things from a Kingdom perspective and not be taken down the destructive path of insecurity in my decision making. I went through the sequence. I found all the verses in relation to it. I went through the whole chapters and wrote out my learning from the chapters and wrote down what God showed and taught me through them. I then did what God had shown me to do through His Word and the outcome was good. This is all written down now, so if I come across the situation again, I can go back to my learnings and remind myself of what to do. Looking forward to continuing to help you in your walk with God. *This quote print is available to buy in our shop www.cwibshop.com

ways to look at EQ I use a model with 4 categories and 26 skills or behaviours. Self-awareness, the upper left category, is the cornerstone of social and emotional intelligence. Further, being highly self-aware means we’re more equipped to manage ourselves and our relationships in a healthy manner. Otherwise, we might end up in relationships as bullies or people-pleasers—not good business models! One of the best things about EQ is that it’s a set of behaviours—and behaviour can be changed. I will never be an Olympian, will never be an Einstein. But the research assures me I can grow in EQ skills. I find that exciting. . www.christianwomeninbusiness.com.au

How are you PREPARING your child to succeed in life?
Do you know we usually get a job because of our technical skills and our grades in school? Oh, but keeping a job is different; we keep our jobs because of our EQ or emotional intelligence skills. Research has shown EQ skills benefit children as young as pre-schoolers. These skills significantly improve academic performance and are strongly linked to students staying in

If you’d like to know more about deliberately creating a plan tailored to build the EQ behaviours you most desire in your children, I’d love to talk with you.
So back to my original question: How are you preparing your child to succeed in life? Unless you deliberately model EQ, your child may be missing out. Emotional intelligence skills include such things as innovation, stress management, resilience, interpersonal effectiveness, initiative and bias for action. I can honestly say that, as a parent, I never once sat down to deliberately train my boys in interpersonal effectiveness. I’m pretty sure I never modelled it either.

when your environment is visually cluttered, the chaos restricts your ability to focus ? Clutter makes you distracted and unable to process information as well as you do in an uncluttered, organised and serene environment. This research showed that you will be less irritable, more productive, distracted less often and able to process information better with an uncluttered and organised home and office.
Just do it now! This little saying has helped me enormously over the years. It can be applied to almost anything. Procrastination can be all consuming if you let it be, think of all the mental ‘post it notes’ you could eliminate if you just did things now. I’ve learned many things about survival over the past 47 years. Let me share some of them with you.
Firstly, intimacy with the Lord needs to be my first priority on a daily basis. Finding that time, no matter what, is my priority even if I have to get up in the dark hours. He’s always waiting for me. Can I encourage you to invite Him into your day, to walk it with you? Lay the day out before Him and ask for His wisdom and guidance, give Him access to every part of your being - your mind, will and emotions. He never fails us! Secondly, I’ve discovered the essential activity of self-care, which is also linked to intimacy. We come from a position of strength when we care for ourselves - body, soul and spirit. By putting healthy boundaries in place, I am now much clearer, happier, and stronger knowing what I will and won’t allow in my life. Knowing my limitations, and kindly but firmly putting strong, loving boundaries in place has protected my mental health and sense of well-being.
Secondly, self-care is essential! Self-care can mean different things to each of us. For me it’s having time to be creative with my craft whilst listening to music, socialising with people of like mind, getting away from

Favourite Bible Verses
FROM OUR CWIB COMMUNITY MEMBERS We asked the ladies in our community to share with you some of their favourite bible verses and why they were impacted by them ..... enjoy!
Deni Knuth Matthew 10:16 NKJV Behold, I send you out as sheep in the midst of wolves. Therefore be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. Be aware of your surroundings in the business world and don't give in to the common place (non)culture. I, as a Christian business operator, can make profit AND love my neighbor.
Sherri Smith Isaiah 43:18-19 Forget the former things: do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing ! Now it springs up: do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland. (NIV) To me this speaks volumes that God is telling me to forget the past, look to see how He is working in my life and to watch Him make a way for my business and personal life that has appeared to be a desolate wasteland!! I take this as a promise over my life & thank Him daily for all that He is doing with my business and family!!
Sharryn Ludlow Revelations 12:11 They overcame him by the blood of the lamb and the word of their testimony and they loved not their lives to the death. All the keys to a triumphant life are in Jesus, in our lives filled with his power and that eternity is more important than what we build in this life! It’s exciting to be in the winners side.

This devotional will leave you feeling on fire for God and confidently inspired to build a Godly Business. Take this walk with God in your quiet time!
l u f i t u a e B y He We are so glad that a copy of our magazine found it’s way into your hands. We truly hope that it has blessed you, in both your personal and business life. You may be wondering who this ‘Jesus’ is that we keep referring to with such love and passion. You might wonder if He can help you, the same way that we have been talking about, that He helps us. He can. It’s really simple, but life changing all the same. You might like to meet Him and ask Him to help you in your life and your business. There’s a little prayer we say when we want to meet Jesus and ask him into our hearts. I’ve written it below - just read it from your heart. Dear Jesus, Thank you for everything that you are and everything that you do.Thank you for sending your Son to die for my sins. I invite you to come into my heart and make me new. I invite you to be Lord and Savior of my life. Please take me as I am and make me whole. I ask for your forgiveness for anything that I have done wrong. Be the Lord of my life and show me how to live a life that is pleasing to you. Help me to understand your grace, mercy and love. In Jesus Name, Amen. That’s it! That’s how you meet Jesus. If you’d like to get connected with someone who will help you grow in your journey, then we can connect you with a local church in your area. We’d also love to come along side you and champion you on!
