Welcome

FROM THE EDITOR C H R I S T I A Nwomen

IN BUSINESS

Message from the Founder/Editor

“What we’re called to do” Well my lovely friend, we made it through another year! Go us! And what a year it has been. If you’re in Australia I’m guessing you’re just reading this magazine after getting through Christmas, you have sand everywhere and you’ve collapsed in your chair exhausted from the Christmas rush and you’re now ready to unwind with the kids. If you’re not that woman, or you’re in the cold parts of the world, we hope you’ve made it through all that roasted turkey and enjoying a lovely glass of malt wine. Either way, we want to say how we are very proud of you to all that you have achieved this year. Running a business and managing everything else can sometimes leave you feeling empty and because of that, we’ve designed this issue of the magazine to be all about you and resting! Resting in Jesus, resting physically, resting mentally and taking that minute out of your holidays to just breathe. We want you to go into 2019 refreshed, energized and ready for another great year (can we talk about starting the new year yet? lol) So, like we always say, pull up a deck chair, sunbed or cosy up on the sofa, grab your drink of choice and this next 30 minutes is all about you and Jesus! Let’s Pray Dear Lord, Thank you so much for another great year in business, thank you for the good times and thank you for the hard times. Thank you for the wisdom learnt and that you continue to provide us money channels to support our families, that you are a source that never changes, your oil never runs out and that you look after us so well. We give all the glory from this year’s work to you Jesus, that people would see the amazing ways you have worked through our businesses this year. We pray for the lovely lady reading this magazine today, that she would feel your gentle arms around her giving her a giant hug, that if it’s of your will the Holy Spirit will fill her full of warmth, love, restoration, fix her body back to 100%, allow her to switch off from the world and switch onto you for this time together. Take away any distractions from her for the next 30mins and allow her to come to so finally tuned into you that time just passes by and she can see the love in your eyes that you have for her. Thank you for this Jesus, in your precious name we pray. Amen.

Enjoy lovely, Sarah-Jane xx

THE God Stretch BY MEGAN HORSFALL WWW.HAPPYSPLATDESIGN.COM.AU

Imagine a brand new elastic band, unstretched, unused and yet in seemingly perfect condition. But really, an elastic band is nothing, if it’s not being used. It is meant to be stretched, reformed and reshaped. If it is stretched out long enough, it takes on a slightly larger shape... look at your hair bands, they just get a little bit bigger, each time you use them. When you are planning for growth in your business, you don’t plan to do exactly the same thing that you did the previous year. That wouldn’t allow for growth. That would leave you at the same level as you were this year and your business would become stagnent.

Enlarge the site of your tent, stretch out the curtains of your dwellings,do not hold back. Lengthen your ropes and drive your stakes deep. Isasiah 54:2 Instead when you make your plans, make room to have some growth.... and then on top of that, leave room for God to exceed your expectations. Enlarge the site of your tent, stretch the canvas, pull it taut like a rubber band. Give it a little time and it will take on a slightly larger size. Your business is the same as that taut canvas ... make plans that stretch you a bit, that make you a little bit (or a big bit) uncomfortable. Before too long, what was uncomfortable and seemed to be too much of a stretch, will be your new normal. You will see that your stretch was your growth. Make your plans...and don’t forget the stretch.... the God Stretch! Father God, I thank you, that you have shown us time and time again, that growth is good. I pray that every lady reading this is blessed with great business growth and a stretching strategy for this year. I pray that as we move into this new year and we seek you in our plans, that you will show us just how far we can stretch... and when we think we have stretched far enough, that you will show us that we can stretch a little bit more. Help us to leave room for the God stretch. Thank you, for all that You are and all that You do, In Jesus Precious Name, Amen.

OUR VISION for 2019

Launching into 2019 with vision and purpose! Since we launched CWIB it’s been one exciting journey. Where did you meet your hunky husband and what year did you get married? Matty and I met at a mixed netball game. Matty was asked by a mutual friend to fill in for our netball team one night. The moment I saw him I thought he was gorgeous and became very flustered and shy. I couldn't look at him. Somehow through my awkwardness Matty noticed me and after that game he made sure he attended events he knew I would be at. His pickup line was asking me to teach him to surf! We had our first date in 2008 and we were married in 2009.

Holy Spirit. Where did you meet your hunky husband and what year did you get married? I met my husband at high school, year 12, 1987 (wow.. I think that makes me REALLY old). He and I shared some classes throughout the year and teased each other without mercy. By the end of the year we were dating. We were together 3 years until I got saved. I went off to YWAM to follow Jesus and we split up (Jan 91). Fast forward Jan 92, he got saved, we got back together and married Oct 1992

If you were going to be stuck on a desert island what’s one thing you’d take with you? Oh this is so hard to choose just one thing! I really treasure having a journal to record what God is saying to me, the ideas I get or the prayers that I pray.

If you could tell your younger self one thing what would it be? I would say "be kind to yourself, you are pretty wonderful." But all that you learn and go through God is going to use it for good.

Meet Randa Habilreh

Retreat sessions on Sunday, will be run by Lisa Bruton from Arise Sanctuary

founder of the MATES program. Randa loves nothing more than seeing women and people have confidence in themselves and their ability Where did you meet your hunky husband and what year did you get married? We met briefly just once when I was 12 years old the night before his mum sent him to boarding school in Ireland! He was living in the Sudan and we were there for Christmas holidays. After he finished high school he went to England for his university studies. We did not meet again until I was 22 and he and his family migrated to Australia. Because our mothers were friends we bumped into each other and he persistently followed me around until I finally became interested in him!!!! Coffee or tea? Definitely coffee! If you were going to be stuck on a desert island what’s one thing you’d take with you? A magnifying glass so I could start a fire, I hate to be cold at night and also I could cook with the fire and it would keep insects away. (My second item would be a swiss army knife…am I allowed a second item???) If you could tell your younger self one thing what would it be? I would tell that self-conscious curly haired teen that GHD’s are coming! If you could go back to any point in time where would you go and why? I would not go back, there’s no point looking backwards. What are you looking forward to most about the CWIB

Ergonomic Tips to take strain off your body while you work Every year I see hundreds of people who are suffering unnecessarily from the strain that’s on their body while they’re working away at their desks… Let’s explore some steps to give your workstation a mini-makeover and ensure yours is setup to take as much strain as possible off your muscles, ligaments and joints. You might be surprised at how some simple adjustments can make a huge difference to your wellbeing while you work! When you sit at your desk it’s important that your setup follows good ergonomic principles so you minimize the strain on your body, improve your posture and maximize your productivity. Ergonomics sounds like a ‘scary’ concept, but it just refers to the process of arranging workplaces (or products and systems) so that they fit the people who use them. So, let’s go through some simple steps for arranging your workspace to best suit you!

Step 1 Your Chair It’s really important to sit in a proper office-type chair as it

needs to be adjustable, at least in height, to suit you.

If it does, recline your backrest by about 10 or 20 degrees

using some reams of paper, thick books or a low box (like a shoebox).

Step 2 Your keyboard, mouse and documents Make sure your keyboard is directly in front of you at all times, that you’re not twisting to use it. Also, make sure you’re not reaching over papers, notebooks or documents to type… keep your keyboard close and use a specific prop for those items (like a Microdesk, see product info below). Again, try to keep your documents/ notes placed centrally so you’re not twisting to look or write. If you use a laptop, make sure you use a separate keyboard and mouse when you’re not out and about. This way your monitor can adjusted to the right height (in the next step) while your wrists and arms are kept in their optimal position

Step 3 Your monitor To make sure you’re not straining your neck and shoulders it’s very important to have your monitor at the right height. Ideally the top third of the screen should be about your eye level, so you’re not looking down at the screen. You don’t have to have a fancy monitor raiser, reams of A4 paper stacked or boxes can be useful to raise your monitor if you need to.The distance your screen should be from your body is about arm’s length away, so your fingertips just touch the screen when you reach out in front of you. If you use more than one monitor, make sure all the screens are as close to the same height as possible and arranged as centrally as possible. You want to avoid turning your neck one way more than the other and be looking as straight ahead as you can. If you’re using a laptop, make sure you’ve hooked up your separate keyboard and mouse so you can raise your monitor up to eye height. You can try the stacks of paper or boxes, or use a specific portable laptop raiser (see product info below) if you’re on your laptop often.

Step 4 Your surrounds Make sure the things you use most often are within easy reach and you don’t have to twist to use them. Try and clear both your desktop and underneath your desk of any unnecessary items so you can sit comfortably without being restricted. Well done! Now you’ve given your workstation a mini-makeover, you’re ready to start your new year at your desk afresh! I can’t wait to hear how you go!

are moving.

2. Learning to notice yourself . It’s during your Pilates time, or movement, that you focus your thoughts on yourself. As women in business, we are often thinking of tasks to do, and people around us. These are all great things of course, but to bring your thoughts inward, you’ll learn about yourself. You begin to become aware of how your body feels. Really notice areas of tension that need your attention and be fully present in your body. This quiet time fosters a self-care attitude which translates to making good choices about food. When you’ve taken the time to invest in your body with movement, then of course this leads to wanting to nurture your body with food also.

3. Stretching - reverses the sedentary element of our lives Oh, it’s so good to stretch! How we need it too! Sitting causes our hips to feel tight, and working on a computer or phone hunches our shoulders. But a good stretch regularly is all you need to reverse the slouchy posture and stand tall.

Hey Beautiful

A LITTLE ABOUT JESUS

We are so glad that a copy of our magazine found it’s way into your hands. We truly hope that it has blessed you, in both your personal and business life. You may be wondering who this ‘Jesus’ is that we keep referring to with such love and passion. You might wonder if He can help you, the same way that we have been talking about, that He helps us. He can. It’s really simple, but life changing all the same. You might like to meet Him and ask Him to help you in your life and your business. There’s a little prayer we say when we want to meet Jesus and ask him into our hearts. I’ve written it below - just read it from your heart.

Dear Jesus, Thank you for everything that you are and everything that you do.Thank you for sending your Son to die for my sins. I invite you to come into my heart and make me new. I invite you to be Lord and Savior of my life. Please take me as I am and make me whole. I ask for your forgiveness for anything that I have done wrong. Be the Lord of my life and show me how to live a life that is pleasing to you. Help me to understand your grace, mercy and love. In Jesus Name, Amen. That’s it! That’s how you meet Jesus. If you’d like to get connected with someone who will help you grow in your journey, then we can connect you with a local church in your area. We’d also love to come along side you and champion you on! Love the CWIB Team xo
