Message from the Founder/Editor
Hello 2021 Summer Holidays! Well this certainly has been a year to remember. One that we will not forget for a long time. Some people thrived and some survived. But now we have a season of rest before us.... let’s start with some fun! Here are some random fun facts?
• Bananas are curved because they grow towards the sun; • If you lift a kangaroo’s tail off the ground it can’t hop; • In the 16th Century, Turkish women could initiate a divorce if their husbands didn’t pour coffee for them; • A crocodile can’t poke it’s tongue out; • Sea otters hold hands when they sleep so they don’t drift away from each other. < This is my favourite; How much better do you feel now that your mind is on something else? Something fun, interesting and rather amusing. That’s exactly what we want to do with this summer issue of our CWIB Magazine, take you away for a couple of minutes, be it by the pool, in your garden or simply in the office. Let your thoughts settle, sprinkle some English humour mixed in with some prettiness and godly goodness for you to relax, unwind and have a mo to yourself! So, go grab your fave drink, find some space where you can relax and let’s get into it. Be blessed and keep on going!
Enjoy lovely, Sarah-Jane xx www.christianwomeninbusiness.com.au

LET GO BY MEGAN HORSFALL WWW.HAPPYSPLATDESIGN.COM.AU
Wading our way through an unexpected year has left many of us feeling depleted, flat or even a little lost. Our plans were waylaid and our focus was sidetracked. Some of us were separated from family and some of us couldn’t escape them (hats off to the remote learning legends!). This year caused us to focus inwardly, to look at ourselves and more importantly to look at our relationship with Jesus. Did you tick all the boxes that you wanted to? Or were there a couple of glaringly obvious parts of your life that needed attention. Did you crash and burn? Or did you thrive?
Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing. James 1:2-4 I did both. There were areas of my life that bloomed and other areas that really needed me to dig deep. What did I do in the places of lack? I kept myself accountable to a few close friends and I got stuck into the Word, so that I could keep afloat and keep my joy. James tells us to ask for wisdom, ask for some practical insight to help us face trials. This Godly wisdom enables us to face any trial thrown at us with perseverance and determination.
Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial. This wisdom helps us to face every situation with patience and with joy. To keep an open heart and an ear tuned to the still small voice. Peace is there in every sitution, we just need to allow God to wash it over us and let go of what we can’t control and let God take the lead.
Love Megs xo Father God, Thank you for standing with us through a year of trials and triumphs. Thank you for being there even before we called. Thank you for being the same yesterday, today and tomorrow, despite what the world throws at us. Thank you for taking the lead and showing the way. In Jesus Name, Amen.

Hello, I’m Melinda from Melinda’s Gluten Free Goodies and I’m chuffed to be able to share some of my journey in the wholesale food world over the past 16 years.
Let me take you back... Let me take you back to the beginning. I was diagnosed with Coeliac Disease when I was 19 years old, around 25 years ago, and spent most of my early days as a Coeliac converting family favourite recipes to be gluten free so I could still enjoy them. Fast forward 10 years and I’d completed my Sports Nutrition degree, worked at Canberra Hospital and then returned to the university as their Campus Manager on South Bank in Brisbane.

desperation also opened the door to a new age movement, who promised I could solve all of my issues and flourish, so I was foolishly led down that path for a year or so until God got involved!! This came in the way of some quite severe challenges but as I’m starting to surface on the other side and see the amazing changes God has created, I wouldn’t change this process if I could. God really needed me to experience some deep valleys to realise I couldn’t get out of them without him and it really bought me back into a much stronger relationship with Him.

technology has been a challenge. I am always reminded of ‘For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, and of love and a sound mind.’ 2 Timothy 1:7 Without Him I, we, could not do this. Which is why I literally googled ‘Christian women in business’ one day and cried when I found SJ and CWIB. I was not the only one out there with the desire to be supported by other Christian businesswomen who understand the challenges faced but want to do business excellently for God’s glory! ‘Love Joy Peace Patience Kindness Goodness Faithfulness Gentleness Self-control.’ Galatians 5:22 Working even more closely together in HAH, has been trickier than I thought, and I realise these fruits are what you need to be a God centred, husband and wife team. Love is at the beginning for a reason; it sets the tone and connects each one.
ISAIAH 54:2
A practical outworking of doing this well is take a break every 3 months for a week (that is our 2021 goal), listen even when challenged over ideas, put yourself in the other persons shoes, walk away when it is too frustrating but come back and resolve, give lots of hugs, text during the day to say you are thinking of each other, encourage one another, rejoice in the good and hard days, laugh lots, talk, eat pizza and still love each other at the end of the day. In reality, this is not a business for everyone, but it is for us and where God wants us. Besides the need to be friendly, relational, non-judgemental, a problem solver, adaptable, multi-skilled, and a communicator the biggest tip if you want to go down this business path is to expect the unexpected. Every job, every situation and every person are another opportunity to show God’s love through your actions and words. And when you quote scripture and have it on the computer to see and read every day, do not be surprised when God answers and you need to lean on Him even more!

We posted a quote on Instagram back in 2020 that goes something like this… “If you’re too comfortable, it’s time to move on. Terrified of what’s next? You’re right on track.” Susan Fales-Hill Right now, we are on the side of feeling not terrified, but definitely out of our comfort zones with what’s going to happen next! We always knew Christian Women in Business was going to be bigger than we could ever imagine, but when we first launched, we had no idea that it was going to have a sister arm, yet here I am, writing this article to you today, feeling like a fish out of water as we prepare to launch our sister arm of CWIB – Christian Women in Leadership! I mean WOW – God you have blown our minds!
What is Christian Women in Leadership and how is it going to serve women in the leadership space? We are so humble and proud of how we serve our members in CWIB, and we know that God has changed and touched so many lives through it. We can only expect that CWIL is going to take things to the next level and really do some amazing things for those that have been tasked with the glorious title of “leaders” in His kingdom. You may find the word “leadership” challenging and overwhelming right now, but I want to tell you that God has done incredible things in your life and it is just the beginning. “Be constant in prayer; keep alert with thanksgiving” One thing that we can promise is that we will be praying for our beautiful women in leadership – those who are in the prime position of influence and who can glorify God in many ways. A position of leadership is considered one of privilege to God and one thing that we encourage our leaders to do is to give thanks as a means of praise and staying alert. www.christianwomeninbusiness.com.au

LEADERSHIP
Who is called to be a leader? A leader is someone who makes a difference, who lives for things bigger than them and is on a mission to make positive change. Taking people on the journey with you is one of the keys to successful leadership and that is the foundation of our CWIL – to support you on your journey that by God’s grace, you have been given. There is so much joy in being a leader for our God!
CWIL will empower you, encourage you and support you. We will give you the keys to: + be a transformational leader + understand your role as a leader for God and how to apply His principles + be inspired and feel connected as a part of a wider community + be determined and clear in your vision & values so you can stand your ground when times get tough. + be mindful of the fruits + be God-fearing in your leadership + speak wisdom and strength + create innovative strategies to encourage + Be supported by a community of other like minded women who get how lonely it can feel in the leadership role and be there for you in your toughest, or what we like to call "break through" moments.
So if you’re an Intelligent, Ambitious, Godly Leader who would like To Come & Restore, Connect, & Realign. So here are 5 steps to help you become a confident ‘Brand You’
www.christianwomeninbusiness.com.au

5 tips to be a confident ‘Brand You’
1
How do you want people to perceive you? What is your business? Who do you serve? Are you a creative? A children’s entertainer? An Accountant? A Designer etc. How would your clients expect you to turn up? Suited and booted or something less formal? Are you dressing your values? Think of 3-5 words that you would like to express the real you, then choose clothes that communicate your personality and brand.
2 3 4
5
Choose your favourite colours and colours that fit ‘brand you’. Pick a couple of neutral colours (both light and darker) they are good for investment buys e.g. suits, coats, trousers, skirts, jackets etc., use accent colours and patterns to add interest, (tops scarves jewellery, shoes and bags), you only need 2/3 accent colours, though if you are a creative, you will probably like to wear an array of colours - go for it!
Start to invest in clothes you love: Think of the words you chose in step 1 if they don’t fit your values and words, walk away and only buy clothes that you really love. Never make-do, as that is when you end up with a wardrobe of clothes and nothing to wear.
Think about your lifestyle: Make-sure your wardrobe fits the life you lead. Invest in clothes you can dress up or down, upscale your accessories and make-up if you need to go from the school run to meeting a new client.
Have fun and take some time out: Go into your existing wardrobe and play dress-up; are there items of clothing you have forgotten about? Can you try different combinations that you haven’t tried before? Create a mood-board either physically or on Pinterest and choose words, colours and styles of how you would like to be perceived.
What we wear and our personal appearance speaks volumes. It highlights our uniqueness, and when we grasp this we don’t have to compare to others. We are free to be the wonderful confident people God created us to be.

I was spending the hot Texas summer days having fun in the pool with my two girls. I had accepted a generous severance package from my executive management position. I was walking with the Lord again and I was so excited to be trying out this “full-time mom” gig - I would really enjoy this time and decide on my new career path in the fall. Or at least that was my plan… Five years later, I was overwhelmed, overweight, and feeling stuck. My career was indefinitely on hold. We had moved to a new city, I had two kids in school, two babies at home and I still did a smidge of business consulting on the side. I had experienced personal losses, and marriage was so hard. I remember the month that all four kids and I were

was an elusive hot shower and a good long sleep. One day, a friend asked if I wanted to join a fitness bootcamp. While I really wanted to, I could not justify the cost, but I knew this would change my life for the better. So, instead of remaining a victim of circumstances, I decided to take back control of my life. I got certified and built my fitness and coaching businesses. I was hand crafting my life with purpose and it felt amazing! When it seemed I was most fulfilled, life knocked me down hard in 2015. I had a major surgery resulting in 9 months of healing and recovery. Troubles in my marriage escalated to separation. My kids needs were growing, and my businesses were not. My overall well-being was in serious jeopardy. One day, I literally fell into a puddle of spilled paint in my bedroom. I laid there for at least an hour crying and disappointed about the state of my life.

Our Season Boxes are a key product for Unique Seasons. As well as the many seasons we go through in life, we also live through four seasons each year; summer, autumn, winter and spring. So, four times a year we produce a box specific to the season we are in. These boxes are created to encourage you in your faith and make you feel special. They contain products we handpick with the season in mind. Choosing each item that goes into these boxes brings me so much joy, as we imagine how you will feel upon opening it.

Hey Beautiful
A LITTLE ABOUT JESUS
We are so glad that a copy of our magazine found it’s way into your hands. We truly hope that it has blessed you, in both your personal and business life. You may be wondering who this ‘Jesus’ is that we keep referring to with such love and passion. You might wonder if He can help you, the same way that we have been talking about, that He helps us. He can. It’s really simple, but life changing all the same. You might like to meet Him and ask Him to help you in your life and your business.
There’s a little prayer we say when we want to meet Jesus and invite Him into our life. I’ve written it below - just read it from your heart.
Dear Jesus, Thank you for everything that you are and everything that you do.Thank you for sending your Son to die for my sins. I invite you to come into my heart and make me new. I invite you to be Lord and Saviour of my life. Please take me as I am and make me whole. I ask for your forgiveness for anything that I have done wrong. Be the Lord of my life and show me how to live a life that is pleasing to you. Help me to understand your grace, mercy and love. In Jesus Name, Amen. That’s it! That’s how you meet Jesus. If you’d like to get connected with someone who will help you grow in your journey, then we can connect you with a local church in your area. We’d also love to come along side you and champion you on! Love the CWIB Team xo For more information please contact us via email - hello@christianwomeninbusiness.com.au
