AN OPEN LETTER ADDRESSED TO LOCAL SAN ANTONIO ARTISTS SOME PEOPLE STILL SEEMED TO BE CONFUSED ABOUT WHAT AND WHO SA URBAN IS HERE FOR.
STAFF
by J.P. Oates, Managing Editor
Publisher: Scorpion Media of TX Editor In Chief: Scotty Ward Managing Editor: J.P. Oates Advising Editor: Chuck Jones Web Coordinator: Chuck Jones Contributing Writers: Lex Flores, Lisa Suarez, Chuck Jones, J.P. Oates, Scotty Ward Other Contributors: Dr. Jeff Reynolds (chill pill) Retail/Classified Advertising: T’Shawn Sessions, Lydia Covarrubia Circulation: (San Antonio) Josh Brown, Wesley Jones Sr., (Seguin) Philip “K-Oz” Hernandez, (New Braunfels) Frazier
The best way for me to explain it is to simply state: "SA Urban has got your back 100%". We here at SAU are solely committed to helping break down the stereotype that there is no good or industry ready local talent in San Antonio. We do this a number of ways, obviously the paper that you are now reading is number one but we also have SA Urban Internet radio (found on our website at www.sa-urban.com) hosted weekly by various local DJ personalities such as “The Official” Playboy, promoting shows at various venues and doing free cd reviews and artist interviews and bios to try to introduce the new up and comers and those groups and artists that already have a solid fan base to the street. That is not just rappers mind you, but rockers, instrument musicians, artists (canvas, mixed medium and graffiti), conventional and spoken word poets, dancers, models and
even stage and screen actors/actresses.
You may have heard the phrase "Helping those who help themselves" well that is truer than you may know. Chuck, Scotty and I have been on the grind, lobbying for more recognition from the local media for all San Antonio artist, so when the radio station in this town (you know which one, but I refuse to print their name or call numbers, until they come correct on a consistent basis for our people) had on one of the rappers that we have been showing much love to, we figured he might take the time to shout out all the other artist in San Antonio (as well as the SA Urban team), who are working just as diligently as himself, but as it happens time and time again he got a little spotlight and automatically when into, it's all about me mode.
tainment, Question?, Mojoe, Get Money Click, Yung Maverick, Miss Neka at TheEntertainmentClub.com, 94.1, Play to Score, Defcon, Hooligan, Taurian, Drupz Productions, Tallensharp, SA Nightlife.com, Hog Heaven Records, Durrty Dymes, Mr. K-oz, Drunk Brothas, Raytheologist, Black Sam of Hog Heaven Records, Dawn Okoro and many many more, we say keep up the good work, stay true to your city, never take no for an answer, share the wealth and the spotlight and most importantly remember, SA Urban has got you back 100%. Tell us who YOU are and WHAT you’re about at www.sa-urban.com.
We know that you want to get your name out, but, the only way for the Industry insiders to take our city seriously is for them to realize that San Antonio has a great wealth of talent, not just one or two good rappers. This could very well be an insanely bad rumor, but I heard that Kobe bought his wife a diamond encrusted Mercedes Benz. Now, I have pictures of one of these cars, but its in the context of a car show. So, that leads me to believe its a prank. Who would drive something like this?

Yo, I’ve been saying for the longest that The Roots aren’t quite the same without Malik B and now he’s (partially) back with the group! I also heard he has a new indie CD or something called Psychological. I need that so if you know how to get that for me, please let me know. MALIK B is back, boyeeeee! Anyway, look out for that Roots CD. There are some very, very good things on Hip-Hop’s horizon and they come (partially) in the form of Game Theory, their new upcoming album. YEEEE-HAAAAA!

STRIP CLUB SUED FOR SELLING ALCOHOL TO DRUNKARD
SELF-DESCRIBED DRUNKARD SUES STRIP CLUB THAT SOLD HIM DRINKS
REDMOND, Ore. -- Cy, short for Cyclopes, a kitten born with only one eye and no nose, is shown in this photo provided by its owner in Redmond, Oregon, on Wednesday, Dec. 28, 2005. The kitten, a ragdoll breed, which died after living for one day, was one of two in the litter. Its sibling was born normal and healthy. (01/09/06 AP photo)
NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla. -- A lawsuit accuses of a Gulf Coast strip club of serving drinks to a 50-year-old man they should have known was a "habitual drunkard." "They knew that he was a drunkard," said attorney Sabato DeVito, a lawyer representing Spring Hill resident Johnny Eugene Smith. "And they continued to serve him alcohol even after they got him intoxicated and then helped him into his car."
The lawsuit said Smith wrecked his Corvette after leaving Calendar Girls in Hudson in 2002. The suit said club's staff was "negligent and careless ... engaging in the sale of alcohol to a habitual drunkard." Club management declined to comment on the suit.
University of Florida law professor Lars Noah told the Times the suit isn't frivolous, but it's unlikely to go far in the legal system. "It's kind of surprising that any lawyer worth his salt would take a case like that," Noah said. "I'm partly to blame for that, I guess. We're churning them out."

LOOK YOUNGER
I have been in practice for over 11 years now. I have treated thousands of patients and I have treated nearly every sample of the human population. From my observations the people who look older than thier biological age are: 1. People who smoke. I think that smoking dries out your skin and makes people look older. 2. People who use tanning beds. Tanning your skin dries it out and makes people look older. 3. People who spend excessive amounts in the sun. Basically the same as tanning. 4. People who excessively drink and smoke. Same as number 1. 5. People who are overwieght. I know, some of you may be thinking that I am taking all the fun out of life, but it is what it is. Have a Great Week. Be Safe! and if you know someone in pain tell them to call us. 210-738-0771

The USA Girls Softball Team are not taking any prisoners this year. After losing to Japan last year in the Championship game Team USA regrouped and came out this year with a vengeance.
On Monday Team USA played the Championship game against Japan. USA won the World Cup beating Japan 5-2, lead by Cat Osterman's 11 strike outs and two a hitter. Three home runs were hit by Love A nn Luve, Andrea Duran and Stacey Nuveman to take the title back to USA.

# In New York local dance crews added waves and smoother movements to the "Popping". # Charlie Robot who used to appear on "Soul Train" introduced the "The Robot" to the mainstream media. # In 1978, Kurtis Blow needed a DJ. Russell Simmons was Kurtis' manager at the time and his brother Joseph (aka as Run of Run DMC) got the job. He got his name "Run" because he could cut between two turntables so quickly.
One of the favorite players, Jessica Mendoza is leading the way for Team USA with her explosive hitting power and tournament-high 15 RBI's. She has hit three home runs in this World Cup so far. In the 11-0 victory against rival Japan, Mendoza drove in four runs and a solo homer that left everyone amazed. She hit the ball past the second fence on a bounce that was about 300ft. That's very hard to do in fast pitch which is very different from slow pitch, trust me. Team USA has outscored opponents 54-1 in World Cup play.
MISTAKES WOMEN MAKE IN BED
THE FIVE BIGGEST MISTAKES WOMEN MAKE ABOUT LOVE: PART 1 OF 5 (part 2 next week)
same hot spots. Sex is a bit like typing. We can all sit down in front of a computer keyboard and bash something out using two fingers.
Hot - or hopeless? Find out how you rate as a lover and pray you're not guilty of any of these...
But you're never going to be as good as the person who uses 10 and took the touchtyping course. Buy a good sex book and study it. Once you've got the basic biology figured, combine it with 'field research' – touching and testing the areas that are meant to feel good when stimulated – and you're bound to be a better lover than the girl who's stuck at the point-and-giggle-athis-dangly-bits stage.
by sex expert Tracey Cox
What makes a woman great in bed? Who better to answer that question than the guy she's in bed with. After extensive interviews with men from all backgrounds, professions and relationships, these constantly surface as the top five female sexual sins. Even if you can twist yourself into 56 positions and quote from the Kama Sutra, you're never going to win Lover of his Life if you're guilty of any of these nono's. 1. We don't know enough about sex – or his bits. 'She goes all giggly and girly whenever I try to talk to her about how to touch and excite me. She thinks it's cute but I find it insulting that not only wouldn't she have the first clue about how my penis works, she's got no interest in finding out.' He's right – you do need to know some basic anatomy. While it's true that what worked with Barry won't necessarily work with Brian, our genitals are all wired up the same way and most of us have the

THEY SAY SHE’S THE NEXT ‘AALIAH’
CASSIE: TOUCH THE SKY By Kathy Iandoli
The idea of someone packing up their life and fleeing to the Big Apple to pursue their love of “the biz” sounds ambitiously poetic. Many many late-teenagers do just that, and they often greet us at bars, restaurants, and just about every other place that has absolutely nothing to do with their passion. While the concept of “making it” always delivers overwhelming doubt, there are isolated moments in time where someone actually has that intangible something. One such instance is the story of Bad Boy/Next Selection recording artist, Cassie. Before “Me & U” became a club and radio anthem, Cassie was a high school graduate bidding adieu to her life in Connecticut. She relocated to New York City and had a brief stint in modeling. After a chance encounter with production prodigy Ryan Leslie, Cassie inked a production deal with Leslie’s Next Selection, signed to Bad Boy, and the rest as they say is history. She is currently settling into this whirlwind now known as her life, and preparing for phase two: the release of her debut album. Cassie took a moment out of her hectic new life to recall her first few months in New York City.

Believe it or not, The Dallas Police force is one of the highest paid Police Departments in the nation but they probably just said that to cover something up.

Police ruled that the motive was possible carjacking. "Give me a break". Everyone knows if someone is going to jack your ride and they succeed in getting you pulled over by shooting you they're going to take your ride. "Come on now". Plus carjackers don't usually shoot up

Dallas gave Davis a $3 million, two year contract with a $2 million bonus. Someone needs to tell this guy to clean his act up because three times a charm. He's no 50 Cent and we know what happened to Tu-Pac.

sa urban local cd review: Mr. King Mr. King “Untamed” by D.J. HearditB4
Mr. King of the get money click I like this CD and if you haven't heard, this is a nice one. The C.D. has a good look and I can say this... some of you guys have really stepped the game up and it’s making the industry stop and pay attention, we're proud! (S.A.Urban). Untamed is a pretty good CD. The first time I listened to this CD I was at home and to be honest I did not feel it; but once I put it in the ride and rode around and turned it up, it made a hell of a difference. I could feel it better. But I still think you have some work to do; that comes with time and age though. You will be a force to F**K with in the future. The thing is, concerning your song selections, you have a couple of hard hitters (which includes trk. 1, and 4.) The song “Welcome to Tha South” was in SA Urban Radio’s top ten requested for so long that I even got tired of hearing it. But I still love it. Over all you have more so-so tracks than hard hitters Try not to put 20 songs on a CD, just pick your songs better. So far track 1and 4 are now in rotation on S.A.Urban Radio’s on-line broadcast and I hope trk. 4 makes the top ten requested. out of 5 stars
