LOCAL RAP/HIP-HOP ARTISTS MAKING MOVES IN DA ‘TONE! ~~ MAD-1 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
MAD-1 has been in the game since the 90's before hip hop became hip. You know back in the day before everybody & their grandmother was a rapper. He was originally given the name Mad Skillz for his freestyle reign from San Antonio to Los Angeles-where he became a legendary name on the Wake Up Show. Anyone who is somebody in the local Hip Hop World today knows that name & can recall a battle they witnessed Mad-1 crush egos. He's performed in almost every venue in San Antonio and all over the states, opening up shows for acts like D-12, Juvenille, Dos Effects, 2 Short, South Park Mexican and most recently Devin the Dude. In 2001, Mad-1 lost part of his heart for music when he lost his closest friend and group member Joel B. Golden, aka Uncle Mystyc (R.I.P.). Since then he has found peace and a new found inspiration in the memory of those lost, to finish what was started. He has recently collaborated with some of the most innovative & talented artists for his newest mix tape ~ Trillmatic, to put out a sound you may not be acustomed to hearing come out of South Texas. Mad-1 and his masterpiece group Strike4orce are working on future projects that will connect the rap game all over Texas.
~~ SoS.A. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Born in San Antonio, Texas on November 12, 1980. SoS.A., (he took the name because he is so San Antone), started rapping at the age of fourteen. SoS.A. fell in love with Hip Hop in general and the attention it brought him in particular. He knew that he had something to offer, so he continued to refine his craft and polish himself as an artist. SoS.A.s' first experience in an actual recording studio came at the tender age of 17. It was obvious to every-one in attendance that he was a natural. It did not take much time after that for him to realize, that this is what he was born to do. Influenced by the pioneers of rap such as L.L. Cool J, Ice Cube, Scarface and later Jay-Z and T.I. he studied what the rap game had to offer and what it was lacking, he knew that he could make his mark as an artist and entertainer. By the summer of 2000, SoS.A. was beginning to create a buzz for himself in his hometown and surrounding areas. He has performed in every venue imaginable, from "hole in the wall" joints, to well known clubs. His personality, as well as his love for the music always shines through in his performances. He has shared the stage with local rap acts in and around the San Antonio area and he has also opened for CooCoo Cal and Lil' Flip. Determined to land a record deal he started working on his own mix-tapes with help from an Independent record label, Maldo Entertainment. His albums are selling every-where from the back of the trunk, to local Flea Markets, to regional Mom and Pop stores. He has gone on to release a compilation, a solo album entitled "Answer to the Question" and over six mix-tapes. Most recently SoS.A. released the critically acclaimed "One Hit Away" to add to his resume, and is now working on the self-titled mixtape "So San Antone(Voice of the City)". With a style like no other, he can truly capture the ears and turn the heads of every-one. He refuses to label himself on a local, regional or even national level. SoS.A. has his eyes set on global domination, and yet he represents San Antonio to the fullest and is most responsible for creating the local sound that many are drawn to. SoS.A. has collaborated on more than thirteen local releases. Even with his busy work schedule and family life he makes time for his music and continues to strive toward his dream of one day landing that elusive record deal.
~~ GABE LOCC ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If you have been listening to rap in San Antonio, undoubtedly you have heard of Gabe Locc. This G-style label member is a rapper, of course. A promoter, which means hustler to the core and a producer who thinks every-one should use their own beats. "These guys out here, tryin' to be in this game should use some originality" suggests Gabe Locc.
Born in New Orleans, LA but raised on the East-side of San Antonio, TX Gabe has been in the rap game since 1994. He had been featured on key projects for Maldo Entertainment, such as 210 the compilation and Da Blocc, then he dropped his solo album entitled "Main Issue". Next up for Gabe Locc was Yung Woods "25 hours". He has recently finished his newest album "Through My Eyes", which is set to drop mid January 2007 and he won't hesitate to tell you that this is no mix tape. It is all original music, mostly produced by Gabe Locc himself. Now, he is set to begin working on a collaboration album with G-style label-mate Swoop(AStar). Stay on the look out for this guy. He has been slowly bubbling in the under-current of San Antonio's rap scene but I have a feeling it is about time for him to burst to the fore-front. continued on ‘backpage’

MAKIN’ MOVES IN DA ‘TONE (CONTINUED) ~~ RUDEBWOY ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The newest client of AFTER12 Management, Rudebwoy is of Haitian blood. Born and bred in Miami, Florida he was raised in a traditional Haitian household, his love of music was influenced by Haitian compa, dancehall, and hip-hop. "The Riddim of the Streets", his first jam pony mix tape became his heartbeat. Perseverance, adversity, and the will to survive was instilled by his biggest hero, (his mother) after the abandonment by his father caused dramatic changes in his life. He became a product of the system when certain events put he and his sibling into foster care. Harsh lessons were learned and the realities of life became embedded. After being reunited with his family, Rudebwoy found his voice and started rapping at the age of 17 Once again, the realities of life made it apparent that in order to survive, he would have to make some quick decisions and some hard choices. After graduating high school he joined the Army as a combat medic for six years. Responsibility took the place of his dreams, but he never forgot them as he polished and honed his lyrical skills in the military. As music evolved, so did Rudebwoy. His influences range from Bob Marley to Jay Z. Nas, Wyclef, Shabba Ranks and Capleton. Buju Banton, Sweet Mickey, Mos Def, Ice Cube and LL Cool J. Method Man, Kardinal, Beanie Man and Spagga Benz. Gregory Issacs to Cocoa Tea. Out Kast, Notorious B.I.G, Tupac, The Fugees and De la Soul. Trick Daddy and Trina, MC Lyte, Queen Latifa, Uncle Al and Ying Yang Twins. Terror Fabulous, Bounty Killer, Mr. Vegas, Ninja Man, Sham, Missy Elliot, Lil' Jon and Jermaine Dupree. Goodie Mob, Dr. Dre, Ludacris, Gang Starr, Lil' Wayne, T.I., and the powerful words of Melanin Man. After completing his tour in the Army, Rudebwoy continued to expand himself mentally by getting his Associate and Bachelor degree in Psychology. He is currently working on his Masters in Social Work. With the hunger of the microphone never leaving his soul Rudebwoy now feels that the world is ready to hear what he has to say and in a big way. With real life lessons that can only be learned from the streets and book knowledge to boot, it's now time to shine. Real gangstas grow up and step up their game so that their children do not repeat the same mistakes. Real men take responsibility for themselves and their family. BIG UP!! RUDEBWOY!!
~~ BUGSY ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
What defines a hustler? Most might say his money or maybe his status. Not according to 20 year old Courtney Jackson. "It's ones dedication," preaches Jackson, better known as Bugsy in the hip-hop community, named after the notorious Brooklyn gangster and for good reason. Bugsy bum-rushed his way into the game by appearing on mixtapes such as Paul Wall's Live From the Gridiron , Lil' Flip's Envy Me and compilations across the nation, which to this date have sold more than 30,000 units with the help of the Bugsy. "I'm the Ambassador of a new generation of southern emcees," proclaims the young phenomenon. With the help of Fyngermade Productions' "The Specialist" DJ Double R (Clover G's DJ), and 2411 Management Bugsy is sure to leave his mark on the great state of Texas. His latest single "Problems" produced by, Calvo da Gr8 (Ciara, Fabolous, etc.) became an instant street-anthem appearing on mixtapes across the nation, like DJ 31 Degees's Texas Massacre and even made it across the country to be played on New York City's very own DJ Drastic's radio show. His buzz through-out the South and cities like New York, Baltimore, Boston, and Virginia have placed the young'n amongst an elite group of emcees. With the likes of DR. Period ( M.O.P., Camron, etc.), DJ Double R, Lil Flip, and legendary East Coast emcee, Craig G (Marley Marl) co-signing Bugsy, he's sure to show the world why he is the "KING OF 210" and New Voice of the Third Coast Born and raised by his grandmother in San Antonio, TX, Bugsy adjusted quickly to a world around him that didn't take to kindly to those who strayed away from the norm. Eventually the confused adolescent dropped out of high school at age 16 to pursue his dream. Since 1986, the streets of the East-side San Antonio have been home for the rapper. Ironically it was experiences from those same streets that helped Bugsy develop his much versatile flow. The streets are always talking and people are continuously speculating on who will be the next to carry the South to a much larger level and Bugsy's unmatched delivery will undoubtedly have the masses placing the crown on his head soon enough.
