SUSTAINER Ann Davis Secter
I do not think I am the oldest CHW Sustainer – but at 91 years old – I could be close! When I immigrated to Edmonton, post WW II as a Holocaust Survivor, joining a chapter of “Hadassah” was a way to make new friends and become part of my new community as a young bride and new mother. I attended chapter meetings and over the years volunteered at the famous Edmonton Hadassah Bazaar. Whether it was modeling in the fashion shows or demonstrating making roly poly, it was enjoyable and a way to connect and contribute.
WHY I BECAME A
SUSTAINER
“
It gives me great satisfaction to contribute annually to CHW and to know that I am continuing to help others. I may not bake or model any longer – but giving financially is how I can still make a difference.

Many years later, my youngest daughter – Stephanie Hendin – became incredibly involved in Edmonton Hadassah WIZO and eventually became a CHW National Director. It was while she was on the Board with Marla Dan serving as National President, that Stephanie encouraged me to become a Sustainer.
