June 24 of the lunar calendar celebrates the bir th of Shengdegong(Guan Yu, Saintly Emperor Guan). In Daxi, this day is referred to as the “24th of June”, and it is even more impor tant to the people of Daxi than the Chinese New Year. The grand religious procession is suppor ted by a group of “Shetou” who are obligated to par ticipate. For the past centur y, ever since the creation of the first Shendegong holy palanquin in 1918, Shetou has become and inseparable par t of the religious procession, creating a connection between folk religion and the local community that is unique to Daxi. Through the development of the Daxi Shetou, we get to witness how Daxi people celebrate the bir th of Shengdefong asawell as how they work together to worship the gods. * Shetou: a special name refers to religious procession group, used in Daxi

The composition of light and shadow offers an impor tant clue into our understanding and perception of this world. Delving fur ther from a physical standpoint, “light and shadow” forms a relative basis with objects to visually cast a dependent personality of existence. Just as light is projected on the painting canvas, a sculpture, or even paper, the ar twork can be perceived by the visual senses. Thus, ar t is brilliantly “embellished” by the light while at same time opening up the path into the ar twork’s field of vision for the viewer.

“Light and shadow” are channeled structurally in the exhibition space as an existence waiting to be captured within the eyes of the viewer, as the ar tistic field is realized in full at this exhibition through disassembly and reassembly of its significance. In addition to the accumulation of educated material in ar t design or contemporar y ar ts, we need to consider whether if a sensual experience that is more straightforward can be used to invite the viewer into the museum space. Within the light and shadow, the viewer is guided for appreciation and establishment of a relationship in obser vation and understanding the exhibits – fur ther exploring the interdependency between the “human” and the “object.”

In the past, we have learned the histor y from the literature and historical materials. This time, we want to show the histor y of Taiwan to the audience through “music”. Through the materials of “sounds”, this exhibition leads the audience to understand the social features of Taiwan in modern histor y. Instead of incomprehensible historical materials, we want to open a door of histor y to the public in a more affable way, which is music.

We have tried different methods to look for the best ways of making powders, including how to slice and dr y the vegetables. All the conditions have to be considered in our design, such as the sizes of the vegetable, best temperatures to dr y them totally and the best amount to make once.

Stable Movements

Through user testing, we know better about children's behavior. We have tested that with which size of objects can children hold it better, and with which pressure of the button can children control the pen well. We want to know how spinning and pressing work to children. Through several tests, we knew that the idea of spinning is better since the pen can be more stable for the powders to come out.

HOW TO USE

01

Slice your vegetables first with the slicer at the bottom of the rack. The rack can be used as a bowl to wash the ingrdients and collect the slices.

02

Put the slices on the rack and microwave them with our suggested time, which differs from various kinds of vegetables in order to dry them totally without burning.

03

Grind the dr y vegetable pieces into powder. The cap of the storage pen could be assembled to collect the powder.

04

Choose the pattern you want from the set and assemble it to the pen. There are six kinds of patterns.

05

Turn the pen cap and the powder will sprinkle down in a shape. There are three pens for different powders. Use these pens to draw on your foods.

06

Enjoy your food with colorful creation and vegetable nutrients!

Ve g g i e P l a n e t This product is aim to solve the picky earing problem of children. From all the research, we realized that only with the company of parents’ love can children improve their picky eating habits. Therefore, we aimed to develop a design which not only solve the problem of unbalanced diet but enhance the parent-child interaction by offering a chance of DIY. After slicing, dr ying and grinding, we turn vegetables into podwers and then preser ve them in specail pens. With this design, children can paint on their foods, having fun while they are eating.

To show the different shapes and growing ways of plants, my vases are designed in organic looks. The most challenging par t is to combine the wood top and the ceramic body correctly. It took me quite a time seeking for the solution: 3D printing of the ceramic body to make the mold + CNC to make the wood par ts
