Background About 40% of children in Taiwan hate eating vegetables and that causes some health problems. Experts suggest parents change their way to cook or do the dishes with their children to make children love eating vegetables. Therefore, we make some studies of materials and hope to create more use of vegetables to make children love them.
About DIY
Vegetable Powders
Valuing the safety of ingredients, we suggest parents can have this activity with children at home. We want to encourage children to eat vegetables. Morover, we hope them develop more abilities though the process.
Vegetable powders are used for seasonings as well as pigments for food. Children can use them to create and observe the nutrition at the same time. The powders are made of dried vegetables. We use microwave to dry these vegetable to keep more nutrition.

Story Listener Parent-Child Interactive Bedside Lamp 2012
Story Listener is a pare of bedside lamps, which could be switched on only by happy voices made from both parents and children such as the voices of telling stories, chatting or having fun. With this design, we want to enhance the interaction between parents and children. The unique design makes the lamps couldn’t be turned on while the mother bird and the eggs are separated, creating the feature of “Love exists when both of parents and children are staying together .

Design Purpose To make it a better parent-child interaction.
In modern Asia society, dual-earner parents and school going children has been the most common type of family structure. Parents and children are often separated by time and distance. Family time reduced rapidly during the last decades. Parents pay much more time on works due to the increased workloads, yet leave it a hard situation to build strong relationship in the family. Intimate relationships between them become very difficult to develop due to the time constraint. However, a good relationship between parents and children is one of the most essential elements of child development. Parents should provide their children without enough company and
communication, or it will influence their abilities such as language development . Early child need to develop their ability performance in a rich company and interaction environment. Our design research and the following product design focus on how to create more and better interactions between parents and children. We want to enhance the intimate connection through our design, making it a good experience to communicate and interact.
Product Design
Sharing the Love and Warm
We love the act of sharing. The way of sharing can also be the process of delivering love. We want to make a thing that can not only used by one side, but both parents and children can interact with each other. We also want to creat a feature of warm, make it a better experience when interacting.
Story Telling
The scene of story telling mother who sits beside your bed can still be a good memory even when you grow up. Therefore, we chose the "story telling" to be our medium for interacting.

Concept The conceptual lamp takes birds and eggs as the image to resemble a warm relationship between mother and children. It has two parts, a mother bird and three eggs. The mother bird is designed to sit on the twig and be put beside parents’ bed, and the eggs in nest are for children. Before the children go to sleep, the parents could take the mother bird to the eggs. Lights in both the bird and eggs can be turned on when parents and child do the activities such as storytelling and chatting before bed. When the device in the lamp receives the happy voices from them, the lights will slowly glow. After the children sleep, the parents can leave with a lit bird, and the eggs are left for the children. These eggs will remain for hours which can be set by parents. This way, when children want to go to the bathroom in the midnight, they can take an egg light with them
instead of walking alone in the dark. There are two conditions in this design, the first one is that both the mother bird and the eggs must be put together, and the other is that when happy voices are received by the lamp the lights can be turned on. These constraints can not only create the feature of passing love but push parents to interact with their children actively. When the mother bird comes to the eggs and lights the light on, the action symbolizes the pass of love from parents. We hope to create a picture that the parents deliver their love and give warm light to their children vividly. Due to the images, we named this lamp the “Story Listener”.
How to use
Before bed, parents take the mother bird off the twig.
Put the mother bird onto the nest beside children’s bed.
After the Automated Recognition of Emotion devices detects the good voices made by both patrents and children, the lights slowly glow.
The mother bird could be taken back to the tree, being as parents’ bedside light. The warm e g g s w i l l b e l ef t fo r children.

Interview User Testing We made the test with 4 pairs of children and parents. First, we used the painted bird to test the color. Second, we asked the children to hold the bird and eggs to make sure they were in proper sizes . In the test of touch, they were asked to feel the texture of the models. Finally, they were asked to talk about the feelings of the overall model and the ideation. The result of the test was encouraging since we realize the users were really found of this lamp especially the children. They showed their interests to the mother bird and eggs. And the parents liked the image of love.

To make the model, we have tried so many different kind of materials. We almost lived in the studio for one month. To make a wireless egg light and soft texture, we have to try many different kinds of materials and try to arrange the size and procedure to make everything combine well. No pain, no gain. I believe the result is sweet; our egg line can really be turned on with no wires, and it does feel soft!

This is especially so for cooking novices, whose biggest problem may be feeling disorganised in a messy kitchen. Instead of just enlarging one’s cooking area, we hope to encourage users to practise misc-en-place before cooking, i.e. to prepare all ingredients and condiments needed before actual cooking starts, so that cooking time can be used more efficiently.
1. ENLARGE WORKING SPACE Cooking at home will now be a breeze with Cooking Studio. We have designed various spaces that allows the working area in the kitchen to be enlarged. We hope to create a better environment for users to be able to be more organised when it comes to cooking.

Existing Problem Dut to the scattering tennis balls around the court when people play tennis, this machine is designed to solve the problem, making it a more convenient and easier way to play tennis.
Concept The tennis ball collection machine could move around the court to collect balls without human’s control , and the balls would be sent to the basket behind the machine by a track. It could detect the weight and move back to the setted place when the weight reaches the maximum. If players want to collect the balls, just pick up the basket and the machine would stop itself. It is easy to storage the machine. Just pick it up by the handle on the top and bring it back to the side of the court or indoor. It could also stand beside the wall due to the shape we designed.
Collect tennis balls automatically by moving around the court.
Picked up by the handle at the top, providing an easy way to storage.

LEGO Robot Model Learn to overcome the limits. In this design, we were asked to use LEGO to make the model. There is a deveice produced by LEGO called "Mindstorms". It is a series of kits contain software and hardware to create small, customizable and programmable robots. With this device, it could make the model move, but it could also bring a lot of difficulties to us. The abilities of this LEGO device were limited, so we were forced to change the design in many times dut to the functional constraints. In order to make it a real model which was workable, we had to change our concept again and again. However, we have learned a lot from the desgin process. We can't always design what we want. In the reality world, design can be limited a lot due to the way of manufacture, materials and costs. How to combine these elements together and manage them well is what designers should do. We are responsible to solve the problem.
It is workable! It can move around, collect the ball, stop when it detect an obstacle and then make a turn.

Traveling Notebook Size - 20x13cm / Thickness - 1.2cm Color - Brown / Blue / Almond / Hunter Green Every notebook has one black strap.
Many people are used to collect post cards, tickets or maps in their journey, because we are afraid to forget those which are memorable. We collect all we can collect, write down everything we meet and take photos of anything we see, in case that when we are older, nothing can we remember. Therefore, we decide to make a notebook, which is about collecting and recording. We made a big pocket on the front cover for collecting. For recording, we print the scale line in the book that we can record our journey by writing down the distance of memorable things. The most important of all, with this book, all of us can enjoy every our little adventure.

Camera strap is another essential thing in journey for those who love to record their life and experience by photo shooting. So we aimed to design a more comfortable and helpful camera strap for travelers. The most special design is that we made a pocket for the camera. With the little pocket, you no longer have to worry about where to put your lens cap. It gives your lens cap a safe shelter.
We don't want to bring too much things while we're traveling. Everything is better to be light and small. Considering about this situation, we designed a kind of small pencil case. With this pencil case, you can only bring 4-6 pens with you. Just make your travel lighter!
The little pocket provide you with a place to put your lens caps and betteries. It is detachable.

Mind the Gap Workshop 2013 Spring With students from Royal College of Art (platform 17)
Mind the Gap is a workshop that combines the students from NCKU and RCA, making us working together to do a design project. Gaps are everywhere. What we did was to find the gap which we concerned about more, and then make a design for it. Scenarios were set in the train station, a place we really have to "Mind the Gap". This was my first time to cooperate with international students. I have learned so much, including the way they think and design, the view they see in the same thing. Though we came from different places, it felt really good to know each other and work together, sharing our oppinions and experiences. The most important of all, we were having so much fun.

To help her to finish the "LOVETRAIN" project, we took her to visit the railway club, found some users to make the test, going around the train station filming. Those were really good memories, and we made lots of friends because of this chance. It was a special and unforgetable experiences working with Tomomi.

Trainspotting tour all over the world!
Trainspotting is an activity to transform boring everyday environment into an entertainment. Everyone doesn’t do it normally, but I would like to encourage more people to do the activity to add another perspective of everyday transports. People might find something new if I will explain about trains differently. I am from Japan where we have massive culture and demand for train spotting. I would like to compare how people will react if I encourage to do train spotting in different locations in Tainan, Tokyo and London.
Train station is not only for transportation but also a part of daily life for some of the people such as commuters and students. They come to the station almost every day but it seems to be no strong emotional association between the people and the station. Thus, we are seeking for a solution that can make the connection stronger and ease the bad emotion such as loneliness or boring. We came up with an idea of building a little farm in the station which is called “Station Farmer”. It’s a small garden that gathers people to take care of the plants such as mushrooms together. This way, the connection could be stronger through the interaction. There is digital board which would show the information of the mushroom and send the message of humidity from the plants. There is also an app for people who may want to check the growth of the plants by instant video even when they are in different places. We hope that through this design, people can feel more senses of belongings in this special train station.
