PARKS & RECREATION - OUTDOOR RECREATION Full Moon Hike Dates: March 18 Ages 18+ (Children welcome with accompanying adult) Time: 8:30 PM – 9:30 PM Location: Lone Star Lakes Park Cost: $5 Enjoy this 2-mile hike illuminated by the light of the full moon. We’ll also highlight the nocturnal wildlife we encounter along the way on our nighttime adventure. Dress warmly; flashlights will be provided.

Great Backyard Bird Count Date: February 19 Ages: 18+ (Children welcome with accompanying adult) Location: Driver Time: 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM Cost: Free Join birdwatchers all around the world to count and report details of birds in the area in which they live. Suffolk Parks & Recreation will be participating in this event and counting birds found at the site of the former Driver Naval Radio Transmitting Facility. Bring your binoculars and spotting scopes if you have some. We will also have a limited supply available for use.

Archery Clinic Dates: April 11, 13, 15 Ages: 7 – 11 (9:00 AM – 11:00 AM); 12 – 17 (1:00 PM – 3:00 PM) Location: Sleepy Hole Park Cost: $65 Would you like to learn archery? Now’s your chance! Take your mind off school and zone in on a different type of target. Bows, arrows, and arm guards will be provided. Participants should wear woods and weather appropriate clothing (including long pants and closed- toe shoes). Bring a water bottle.

Suffolk Parks & Recreation is offering several free, outdoor gatherings once a week, bringing together a community to celebrate and inspire Black Joy in the Outdoors. Our hands-on educational/ recreational programs can include activities such as hiking, canoeing, kayaking, archery, and wildlife viewing at venues such as Sleepy Hole, Bennet’s Creek, Lone Star Lakes, and Lake Meade Parks. Our park programs will provide unforgettable outdoor experiences and activities that are sure to captivate participants of all ages.
