Business Spotlight: Moments Shared A vibrant Aloha in the display window of Moments Shared Children's Consignment welcomes you into a treasure trove of gently used children's clothing. Located at 320 Georgia street, in a historic building that was home to Simon's Jewelry for nearly sixty years. Simona Dobson, the owner, and Vallejo native, opened Moments Shared in 2017 and turned a former insurance company into a welcoming space in downtown Vallejo. After becoming a new mother and shopping at consignment stores in other cities, Simona saw an opportunity to bring a much-needed service to Vallejo. So she opened Moments Shared as a way for the community to share in the experience of parenthood. Encouraged by the 'shop local' adage she'd seen in community Facebook groups, Simona took the leap from corporate accounting to small business Withowner.about 1,000 families donating clothes, shoes, and toys; Simona is diligent about the items she selects for the store. "I make sure every piece is in great shape— no stains or holes. Only the best will make it to the shelves," according to Simona. From newborn to size 14, clothing items range in price from $1.99-$6.99. But, it isn't just clothing and shoes; shoppers will find like-new strollers, swings, and other baby gear at nearly 90% off retail pricing. Moments Shared also carries new and used toys. Simona encourages parents to bring their children into the store to see where the clothes and toys they've outgrown can find a new home. "Kids call me the toy store, and I love it!" Moments Shared isn't just a place to shop; the store is also a great place for a family "Weouting.have a bingo card during the Simona Dobson, Owner of Moments Shared

farmers market. Kids win a small prize for completing it, and we have a bubble station outside. This is a place for families to have Thefun."store survived the pandemic by pivoting to online sales. After a year and a half, Simona is happy to be back in the store seven days a week from 10 am-2 pm, with plans to expand the store's hours in August, just in time for back to school. In addition, the store runs specials throughout the year, like the $5.00 bag sale that always sells out quickly, and they also run seasonal social media promotions. Vallejo is lucky to have Moments Shared as an affordable option for parents and caregivers. The store also carries books, educational and developmental toys, and elementary school uniforms. You can also find eco-friendly wooden toys, reusable snack bags, and bamboo toothbrushes. Moments Shared is truly a treasure only found in Vallejo. As part of a pavement rehabilitation project, Caltrans will close westbound State Route 37 (SR-37) between Walnut Avenue in Vallejo and State Route 121 (SR-121) at Sears Point in Sonoma County for five consecutive nights beginning Sunday, August 14 from 8:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. Work will conclude by 4:00 a.m., Friday, August 19, 2022. The eight-hour nightly closures will allow workers to repair deteriorated pavement and shoulders on a six-mile stretch of westbound SR-37 between Walnut Avenue and Skaggs Island EastboundRoad. SR-37 will not be affected. During the closures, the ramp from Walnut Avenue/Railroad Avenue interchange leading to westbound SR-37 will be closed; however, the remaining ramps will stay open. The closure will not affect traffic traveling on SR121 to eastbound or westbound SR-37. Traffic that would be traveling on westbound SR37 during the closure will detour to northbound SR-29, then connect to westbound SR-12, and finally take SR-121 to connect to westbound SR37. (See detour map.) Due to its location atop marshy soil, Caltrans monitors pavement conditions on SR-37, keeping an eye out for cracking and potholes that might portend future problems. After a recent assessment, Caltrans determined that a pavement rehabilitation project should occur before the wet weather arrives this fall, causing further deterioration and making repairs more difficult. SB-1 funds will be used to make these necessary road repairs.
