WOMEN-OWNED SHOPS Dress Uptown in
Style
If the winter cold starts to drive you stir crazy, consider taking a stroll through the historic heart of the City, Uptown Westerville. In addition to popular restaurants, vintage and artbased shops, it’s becoming a fashion destination in its own right. Get to know three womenowned boutiques that are making it fun to shop for clothing in person again. So grab a hot beverage to go (remember DORA is 5-10 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays, and 12-10 p.m. on Saturdays) and let these women business owners get you dressed.

" We just wanted to make sure women of all walks of life would be able to come in and find something and be able to feel supported...and walk out feeling stronger." - Adrienne Wilson.
Best friends Natasha Mix, Chauntay Holt and Adrienne Wilson (nicknamed Tash, Tay and A) opened their doors in Uptown Westerville last summer. According to the S.H.E. 614 website, the trio created a space where women of all sizes can feel safe and comfortable while shopping. Customers are invited to a host of special shopping events, a personal shopping service and join the Sassy Ambassador program. 13 E. College Ave. www.sassyhipempowered.com

Jaclyn Owdom took ownership of Deja Vu Resale Boutique last September, but the shop has been a destination for thrifty fashion lovers since 1982. The store also serves as the retail hub for Megan Lee Designs, featuring locally made shirts designed and printed in Uptown. Owdom hosts a number of in-house events, including sip and shops during DORA hours. Cleaning out your closet? You can make an appointment to consign your gently used clothing as well.

“We carry literally hundreds of different brands, styles and sizes. The magic of shopping resale is that you don’t find the right clothes - the right clothes find you. But what we do is bigger than fashion. Our customers care about their impact on the environment...” - Jaclyn Owdom
