WINTER CALENDAR
Our weekly Jackbox social is honestly such a staple in Circle K. Every time we play, something new happens so it never gets boring. At this social we played the newest Jackbox which had some interesting games to say the least. I think my favorite one was where we made raps and dissed each other basically. It was really fun to see people think of bars on the spot, and I was honestly really impressed by how creative people were even under pressure. Miss Amy Kobayashi was the winner of our rap battles, but it turns out she had a ghost writer... SMH #ENDBOBATIMERUSH
The Welcome Week Photo Challenge was such a fun way to start off the term! Over the whole welcome week, I got to interact and learn about new and returning members almost as if we were in person. Hillary did so well in organizing this and thought up some very quick and quirky prompts for us to post pictures of on the group page every day. My favorite prompt had to be Thursday’s “Memory/Summer Recap,” because it felt reassuring to see how everyone made the most out of their quarantined summer (I had serious FOMO just from pictures ;-; ). Everyone was so creative with their responses (Photoshop better sponsor us one day) and I’m thankful for getting to learn about everyone with this challenge!.................................
On October 15th, 2020 we had our first social of Fall quarter as well as the first social to kick off our Fall Welcome Week. We played Total Drama Island on Roblox with our own private server (wowowow) and went through various survival rounds to try and make it to the top. We were all on our Discord server screaming and laughing because most of us don't know how to parkour in Roblox, and overall it was such a fun and chill event. I hope that you guys will come out to more of our socials in the future!............................................ .
The season of spooky tales, colder weather, and candy comes with soo many great horror movies to watch! We had a fun and simple scary movie fundraiser to watch 'Get Out;' even if you've already watched it before, it's a movie that's still fun to watch again or see how your friends react to it too. My favorite thing about watching movies with the club is that we always have the live chat to write our immediate thoughts and reactions. Whenever we're scared or have a comment about the events in the movie, or even to make fun of the voice acting, it's a fun activity to engage in during the event and makes us all feel closer! .....................................................
On October 16th, 2020 we had our second Big and Little Social of the quarter. I was pretty nervous as a Big because I was afraid that I would not meet the expectations of our prospective Littles, but as the night went on I got to interact with so many of the prospective Littles and really enjoyed talking to all of them. I also got to bond with other bigs as well! Because of these socials, I was able to meet my current Littles (s/o to Anthony and Jaden hehe uwu) and bond with them. If you did not apply to be a Big or a Little this year, I highly encourage you to apply to be either next year!................................................ .
In October our division hosted our very first WAW of the school year! It was during halloween, so things were very spooky O_O! We shared scary stories, did some service, and had a swagger costume contest! It was definitely a very unique WAW, but in a good way! My favorite part of the weekend was when we told scary stories. I was shooken to my core hearing about all the spine tingling experiences that people had. I was so surprised to learn that some people have never seen two pretty best friends.
This event was the first part of our interclub weekend, which was Cartoon Network themed! At this interclub we got to play Telestrations, which is like telephones but with illustrations basically! It was super swaggie, and some people were really creative with their drawings. After a couple of rounds we also played Roblox Total Drama Island, and we have a private server because of Queen Rachel. It was so hard playing against all these seasoned veterans, but overall it was a great time and I highly recommend coming to a UCI x UCR interclub!!
At the Long Beach Link Up, we did a workshop, service, and social, all in one day! Hazah! It was a really fun event with CSULB, especially the workshop about female rappers. Learning more about some of the greatest rappers ever made the event all worth while. Towards the end of the event we started playing Roblox, a game that is very popular within our club. It was interesting playing Roblox with people outside of our club, as most of the time we just play with people from UCR. All in all, it was a really cool event, and I hope to see more people at the next interclub! Big shoutout to Ricky and Ziri for planning such a great event!
At the Piccrew.me Social we got the chance to make super cute icons on piccrew with the gang!! It was kinda hard figuring out the website because it was mostly in Japanese, but after a while you get the hang of it! There are so many different designs or styles you could choose. For example, you could make a chibi or you could make a group of friends if you want, and I really liked how much variety there was! After we made our icons, the rest of us in the call just chilled on discord and talked about how our fall quarter was going. We also got the chance to learn more about each other, for example, I got to learn about Rachel’s family which was very cool. I never expected to learn so much about my friends during a piccrew social, but I was pleasantly surprsied! ..
3 in 1 MRP Race
On December 3rd, CKI UCR hosted our Dog Sledding themed 3-in-1 MRP Race, where we each completed 3 different requirements of the Member Recognition Program to reach our tier goals! The online event began with an informational meeting about the new MRP requirements and tips on reaching our goals more efficiently! Then, we earned service hours for answering different trivial questions to donate beans on beanbeanbean. It was cool to see some members fill up their entire screen with more than a thousand beans! Lastly, we watched part of a Netflix documentary series relating to our District Service Initiative, the environment, called "Cowspiracy", a movie talking about the possible solutions to the most pressing environmental issues and finding the true path to sustainability....

In mid September, our VPS Ziri held an Interclub week with 7 different clubs. On September 18th, 2020 we had an inter club with UNLV during our 6th day of our the week. We first started off the inter club by doing Freerice for service while we listened to some music. Afterwards, we played Family Feud with fun questions about various things and places around the world. Overall, it was such a fun event and it is always fun to inter club as well as just hang out with our sister club in general, so I hope the next time we get to hang out with UNLV you guys will come out as well! (: . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
At letters for literacy, we came together to make literacy packets for children in need. These packets included hand made flash cards, a personal note, and love owo. This event is always so chill, and we always have such a grea time! I think because there are an unlimited amount of things you can do with the flash cards, it allows us to be as creative as we want to be! Overall, I had such a great time at this event, and I really encourage you all to come out and participate! Also, thank you Miss Ziri for hosting such a cool event bro!
If you didn’t know already, PLARN Workdays are definitely my favorite service to host. Since this service had become on-going, this November check in was the best time to get tips about how to make PLARN from your regular plastic bags, and, of course, make some with me (all while ranting about our days). It shocks people just how easy it is to make this and how much they could make in just two hours, especially when you add some good conversations to the mix. This check in was such a great way to destress, care for the environment, and get in some meaningful service hours! ...................................................
PLANK’S CAPTIONS
This was a really special event for me because it combined two organizations that I'm a part of! We rarely get to colloborate with other on-campus organizations, especially during the pandemic, so this was a fun opportunity for members from both orgs to meet new people and learn a little bit about CKI's District Service Imitative: Saving the Environment! Recycling can be for anyone so it was lovely to spread that knowledge to residents staying in the on-campus housing. Ziri also debuted a new service this time around: ecobricks. It was surprisingly easy and a fun mix up from the usual stuff we do! But we also explained PLARN and Free Rice for those that didn't have the materials for the Ecobricks. Overall it was an interesting and relaxing workshop-service event collab................................ .......................................
Holiday Card Making
The Holiday Cards Service is run by Circle K at UCR. Ahtziri hosted tonight's event and members came together to make holiday cards that will be donated to Meals on Wheels! Meals on Wheels is a leadership organization that helps support senior communities in America and delivers healthy meals and support. Many members of CKI at UC Riverside came out the first day of December and we had a nice time bonding and making cards. The service was held from 7 to 9 and was a very casual event. We listened to Christmas music and talked about our classes. As a new member I would recommend this service to anyone! . ...............................
During the beginning of fall quarter we hosted our very first info session, which was lead by our MDE Chair Kimse! At this info session we introduced prospective members to Circle K, teaching them all the basics regarding our organization. We talked about our three tenets, and how our club encompasses them. Our board also explained the DSI, DFI, and the Member Recognition Program. We had a really good turnout, and it was exciting to see all the possible new members! It was also an event where all of the board worked together, so it was a great bonding experience for us as well!

I always like the workshop hosted by our favorite Service Initiative chair Jessica! There is always something new to learn about with her, especially if you are interested in gardening. During this workshop, she introduced us to simple veggies, such as garlic, that we can all grow in a short amount of time. I learned that I should not overwater my succulents during winter time because it will literally drown them. Overall, my favorite part would be all the interesting tik toks about fall! I really encourage you to attend these workshops to learn more about gardening or even recycling!
My brain was definitely unlocking from this workshop. It was definitely really enjoyable and everyone was interacting, which made it even better! My favorite part was when we had to describe a pencil, which got really specific. The other part that I liked was when everyone was saying what is one thing they did that they were proud about! I feel like it really is important to acknowledge your achievements even if they are in the past. I went into this workshop with a small brain and left with a bigger brain from all the thinking. Matthew’s workshop was really unique and I can’t wait for his next one!
The Fosters Home of Astrology was one of the most unique workshops we’ve ever had. We all took personality tests and saw if their results matched our zodiac signs, and although not everyone got their exact match, it was really cool seeing what character everybody was! Although the workshop was a bit rocky due to some technical difficulties, everyone seemed to really enjoy learning more about zodiac signs and traits! I think because it was so casual and friendy, people enjoyed it more. I know that as a Taurus sun, that this workshop was swag money for me!
QUARANTINE SHOPPING AUCTION
The Quarantine Shopping Auction was a fundraiser hosted by Gabe, our very wonderful fundraising chair! There were so many cool items for sale, including this dope bike that Jonathan bought! Other items included a waffle maker, a pair of red converse, and some cool Pokemon items, so it really appealed to a lot of different people! It was so fun seeing people bid on items, especially when things got wild and people were bidding over each other. I also loved seeing Gabe spit bars during the bidding section, and overall I thought that this was such a creative fundraiser!
08.27.20 Matthew Fung’s second successful work-
This event was hosted by our historishop has sprung eyes to members across an chair, Hillary, and at this workCKI. His workshop “Defining Masculinity shop she taught us different embroiToday”, which took place over zoom on dery techniques and were even December 4th, is slowly making an able to practice some of the stitchimpact on the male members of CKI! By es. Personally I learned many new providing information on the subject techniques on how to embroidery matter, Matthew was able to inform the and Hillary made everything easy to participants how they each might have follow and had a really nice powerparticipated in Toxic Masulanity, along point. Now I feel prepared to emwith explaining how they can end it. With broider a lil koya on my sweater!! I that, he started to define what it truly honestly really enjoyed this event means to be masculine, leaving everyone and I know a lot of other of the with their mouth opened because of how member thats attended this event much of a big definition it had. In all, Matalso enjoyed this workshop. .......... thew’s TED-talk with a sensitive topic will only continue to be useful to all members of CKI. ..........

Our August DCM is special every year because we have a joint meeting with the Foothill division! It’s always nice to meet up with our friends in our division and catch up on what we’ve all been up to, but this time, with the joint DCM, there were a lot more people at the meeting. We got to interact with members from different schools and also get more insight into how they function too. As per tradition, our Desert Oasis LTG gets married to the Foothill LTG to signify the bond between our divisions; it was a magical moment to experience, and although a bit silly represents the bonds and friend ships we make in this organization! Afterward, we launched into an inter-division social, playing COVID-opoly, and had a great time. August DCM is always going to be one of my favorite DCMs of the year!
Fall Training Conference Although I was not able to make it on the first day for FTC, it was really enjoyable overall. I love my group leader! It was a bit unfortunate that the bonding activities with my group were short, but it was really fun nonetheless. It was my first time attending and even though it was online, it was fun meeting new people. I also really enjoyed the workshops, especially the one where we found out the type of personalities we were. I really do hope FTC will be in person by next year because it was already a really fun experience online! Although Fall Training Conference was online this year, it was as fun as I thought. This was my second time going to FTC, and despite being online, it gave the same experience for me as last year. A huge shoutout to the district FTC committee for spending so much time and effort on making this event possible and that new members get to experience the fun during the pandemic. I enjoyed the team activities where I got to meet new people from different schools across the district. The workshops were inspiring and interesting. My favorite workshop was "Imposter Syndrome" and I got to reflect on myself and learn how to grow from that. The skits portion of FTC was really fun too. I am really happy that UCR and UCI won the outstanding skit award this year and I am so proud of them. I can't wait to go to FTC next year when things get better.
