Hello everyone!! On June 13th we had our Cranes for a Cure event and it was the very first interclub I ever had and it was so fun and definitely an amazing time! We interclubbed with PCC to plan a service and social. At this event we made paper cranes that will be donated to children's hospitals as a symbol of hope. After the service ended our wonderful sprit chairs, Rachel and Maysa, organized a social where members got to play Taboo and One Night Ultimate Werewolf. I think everyone had an good time and I am so happy that I got to work with PCC and my awesome CP Chloe!! <33..............................................

The Bottle Garden Service was an event hosted by our very own board members Jessica and Ziri. We were tasked with taking our empty plastic water bottles and upcycling them into plant pots! In the first half, we watched an amazing presentation from both of them, and then we went to work. We created different pots such as ones that water themselves, and then in the latter half, we planted some things like green onions, seeds we had, and even indoor plants. It was really easy to do, and I had so much fun! Overall, it was an amazing event, and we all now have pots with growing plants! .

During this inter-club event with Sac State, I got to meet a lot of amazing members from their school. In the first part of the event, we wrote cute pen pal letters to senior citizens. The materials are accessible at home since all you need were papers, pens, envelopes, and stamps. I could not wait to see the smiles on their faces when they received our letters. I also had a fun time socializing and getting to know people from Sac State during the service. Besides, we also had a social where we played werewolf online together. There were many funny mo ments and it was a great game to bond with people from Sac State. It is the best group game and I enjoyed it a lot. I am excited about our next inter-club event and I can't wait to meet more new friends in Circle K..........................................................

Transcribe Your Best Friend’s Brother was one of the events during the Worldwide Tour between UCR and UCI. We went to a website and started transcribing all these different types of documents, ranging from letters to news articles. Since there were a variety of documents that were handwritten, some of them were a bit difficult to understand. So, I ended up looking for a new one to transcribe. Some articles were pretty amusing, especially with their grammatical errors. I made the mistake of clicking the cancel button when I was almost done, and then realized that it was already transcribed.(T-T) This event really tests how well you can copy word by word without losing track!..

The ongoing services hosted by Ziri every Thursday this summer was honestly one of the best events we had! It was a time where we could all hop on Zoom together and work on different types of services like Freerice or even writing notes for COVID-19 patients and healthcare workers. I enjoyed the social aspect of it all as we were able to still do service and talk amongst each other. It made the time go by fast even though we were working on service for 2 hours. I hope that others continue to attend this ongoing event and can’t wait to see many new faces there! ................. ..............................

At this service event we used a website called Zooniverse that is filled with hundreds of projects that help with research projects!! This was a very chill event where member where able to choose whatever project caught their eye. Personally I participated in a project in which you have to identity what animal species is seen on the picture which was challenging but also very interesting. Members were able to talk to each while still participating in service. Also huge shout out to Jonathan for chairing this event, I super appreci ate it!! <33 ..

During the Plarn Making service event, members took plastic bags, cut them up, and tied them into a material called plarn. Although the process to create plarn was initially quite confusing, after working through more and more strips, it eventually became routine. Creating plarn is not only a great way to reuse plastic bags, but it can also be used to create new things! For the plarn we were making during the service, after we made it, we would send it to Jessica Itliong, our Service Initiative Chair so that she could it add it to her ongoing plarn quilt. Overall, creating plarn was quite fun and I would definitely recommend coming out to this service if it happens again!

At the Wildlife Card service we made cards to show appreciation for Wildlife rangers who risk their lives to protect endangered species like tigers, elephants and rhinos. We made these cards by drawing different animals and writing a letter of appreciation for the widlife rangers! Throughout the event, our members were drawing and comparing our artistic abilities, and it was so fun to see people be creative with their cards! This was a really fun event, and I also had the honor of chairing the event! It was my first time chairing an online event, and I was so happy that I got the opportunity to step out of my comfort zone! It made the event a lot more interesting for me, and I hope I was a good event chair! I hope we can have this event again, and that you all will attend in the future! .................

3 in 1 MRP Race

On August 28th, CKI UC Riverside hosted our first-ever, Mario-Kart themed, 3-in-1 MRP Race, where we each completed 3 different requirements of the Member Recognition Program to reach our tier goals! The online event began with an informational meeting about the new MRP requirements and tips on reaching our goals more efficiently! Then, we earned service hours for answering different trivial questions to donate beans on beanbeanbean.com. It was super cool to see some members fill up their entire screen with more than a thousand beans! Lastly, we watched part of a Netflix documentary series relating to our District Service Initiative, the environment, called "Broken: Recycling Sham". It gave us much insight into how other countries around the world recycle and ways to reduce un-recyclable waste. Because of the great turn out at our first MRP Race, this event may be reoccurring every quarter to motivate more members to reach their requirements quickly and efficiently. Thank you all for coming, we hope to see you at the next race!...............

BANG! BOOM! POW!! Hello, I'm Brian, one of the Spirit-Social Chairs back at UCI and I just wanted to say how very happy and grateful I am for those of you who attended Day 2 of our Worldwide Tour last month, which was an escape room social! It was really fun seeing everyone compete with one another to see who can make it out the fastest. For the first hour, we had everyone do a very exciting "Sherlock Holmes" murder mystery online escape room to find out who the killer was! Each team was given an hour time limit to complete the mystery or else they would fail and amazingly, every team was so big brained that they made it out in time! The first team who made it out though was no other than PCC's Audrey Abbott, CSULB's Ricardo Porras, and UCSD's Juicy and Fongers! Congratulations to them and they were rewarded with iCarly stickers! However, the excitement didn't end there because we even had several teams after who were hyped up to do another escape room! For them, we had a special "Greek Mythology" themed escape dungeon, proving to be even more difficult than the previous escape room! Overall, Rachel, James, and I are overwhelmed with the amount of support we got from this escape room social and we cannot wait to collaborate even more in the future! So watch out for that, okay? teehee .

On August 23rd we had our CKI Food Network fundraiser and social! It was fun learning how to cook delicious recipes made by our very own Fundraising Chair, Gabe. For every tier that we reached, Gabe would give us a handwritten recipe for us to follow so that we can make it at home for ourselves! We all also got to talk to one another while we watched Gabe show us how to make his delicious dishes. Overall, it was a very fun experience and I cannot wait to have another CKI Food Network event in the future! Come out to the next one you won't regret it!..............................................

The Bottles for Change Service and Fundraiser was hosted by none other than Jessica and Gabe! It was an event in which we collected plastic and other recyclable bottles for service hours and money that would go towards our fundraiser. At first, it was a challenging task to collect so many bottles, but it was fulfilling to see it all in the end, especially since plastic is detrimental to our environment, and we were able to change that and put them to good use instead. I only wish that we had this event for longer, and I can’t wait to see it be brought back!...................................................

If you haven't already bought a houseplant to spice up your room decor or to filter out the wildfire air, it's highly recommended that you do! During our wonderful, District Service Initiative Chair's workshop, "Rooting For You: Your Guide to Indoor Gardening", Jessica shared to our fellow CKI members about what it takes to keep your plants happy and alive, the different types of plants that suits your needs, and our impact on the environment by taking care of plants carefully! It did not matter if you already have a green thumb or if your thumb is a little brown, there's a plant out there for you!..........................................................

Summer Leadership Webinar

During our July DCM we were able to do a variety of activities, some that caused me literal rage!!! I got to bond so much with members of Desert Oasis though, so mayhaps the pain was worth it. We got to learn so much about the other clubs in our division, and we also got to hear about the changes happening in CNH during the summer. After our DCM we did our division service project which was Color A Smile. We basically colored in drawings to send out to troops, senior citizens, or anyone that is in need of a smile! It was a really fun and relaxing service event. Everything was really chill and it was a great way to gain hours. All in all, it was such a fun DCM and I encourage you to go to the next one!.........................................

UCR x UCI Worldwide Tour: Big Time Workshop

The Big Time Workshop was one of the events during the Worldwide Tour and one word that perfectly describes it is unique. The appearance of the special guest really made this workshop one of a kind! I had a lot of fun learning about Big Time Rush and the various tips for Tinder. I never knew that Big Time Rush held all three tenets of Circle K. As someone who does not use Tinder, I learned a lot on what type of people to swipe left on. Especially names that start with a “J. Overall, I had a great time during this event. ........ ...............................

08.27.20 This event was hosted by our historian chair, Hillary, and at this workshop she taught us different embroidery techniques and were even able to practice some of the stitches. Personally I learned many new techniques on how to embroidery and Hillary made everything easy to follow and had a really nice powerpoint. Now I feel prepared to embroider a lil koya on my sweater!! I honestly really enjoyed this event and I know a lot of other of the member thats attended this event also enjoyed this workshop. ..........

Our August DCM is special every year because we have a joint meeting with the Foothill division! It’s always nice to meet up with our friends in our division and catch up on what we’ve all been up to, but this time, with the joint DCM, there were a lot more people at the meeting. We got to interact with members from different schools and also get more insight into how they function too. As per tradition, our Desert Oasis LTG gets married to the Foothill LTG to signify the bond between our divisions; it was a magical moment to experience, and although a bit silly represents the bonds and friend ships we make in this organization! Afterward, we launched into an inter-division social, playing COVID-opoly, and had a great time. August DCM is always going to be one of my favorite DCMs of the year!

The general meeting for the Kiwanis Club of Riverside this Thursday September 24th involved a presentation by division 15 East's lieutenant governor Lia Busby on every aspect of Key Club International and the ways in which the Kiwanis club of Riverside can interact more with Key Club. We talked about some of the processes that would go into creating a Kiwanis Takeover event and realized that the date for the event might have to be moved once more to a Thursday in November. We had the former Kiwanis Club president Al Barros as well as the current newly installed Kiwanis president Kevin present at the meeting. ..........
