FEBRUARY NEWSLETTER

Greetings Division 20! Happy March! February was such a great month. I spent time with the K-Family, attend a service project that Union-Endicott hosted, found a Lieutenant Governor, and I went on WBNG with the BC Kiwanis President to speak about the Kiwanis Family! I also spent a lot of time prepping for the Leadership Training Conference. We have three people attending from Division 20 this year! Our new Lieutenant Governor Elect, myself, and a member from the Candor Key Club. I’m very excited! Speaking of the Lieutenant Governor Elect, congratulations to Margaret Ryan! She will serve as the Division 20 Lieutenant Governor for the 2019-2020 service year. Margaret is currently a freshman at Seton Catholic Central and I know she’s going to do a great job! There are still a few more things that need to be taken care of this service year though. If you are from Maine-Endwell, please fill out the August Monthly Report Form! This will qualify you for an automatic award at LTC. Last but definitely not least, I want to thank you all. When I became Lieutenant Governor, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I think about my decision every day, and I’m so thankful that I chose this path. It’s brought so much joy, so many friendships and lessons into my life. Thank you all for being such an amazing group of people to work with!

Yours in service, Camille Brock

Service Spotlights! “The Union-Endicott Key Club hosted their annual ACHIEVE Bowling event this month. ACHIEVE is an assisted living center for people with special mental and/or physical needs. Every February, the club invites anyone from ACHIEVE to join them at Midway Lanes to bowl two games. Following the games, all the bowlers enjoy pizza and soda together. This event is one of my favorites because it truly isn’t about the bowling. It is about enjoying the new people you meet and making them smile. Everyone has fun no matter the score. The smiles that are brought to the faces of both club members and ACHIEVE members are better than bowling a perfect game. From people that regularly bowl in leagues to people that need assistance getting up to the lane, the club helped and had fun with them.” - UEHS Key Club President Nick Eastman

“Colonie Central High School hosted their annual badminton tournament on February 28th as a fundraiser activity to bring all the teachers and students together. It was very successful and unifying for Colonie’s tribe to have them show off their badminton skills. A total of thirty teams signed up for it, and many students came to cheer and motivate the players. CCHS Key Club was able to raise a total of $300. After 29 grueling matches, the winners triumphed and were given trophies as well as the sports bracket as a souvenir from the club. CCHS Key Club feels proud to have accomplished such a big event, and we hope to have more in the future as the year ends.” - CCHS Key Club Secretary Maryam Rehan

Updates Past Events: The Broome County K-Family Pasta Dinner took place on February 9th. Thanks to everyone who donated baked goods, baskets for the auction, or their time! It was a great event to be a part of. Along with the UE Key Club, ME Key Club, Seton Key Club and JC Key Club, the Broome County Kiwanis and Binghamton University Circle K also attended. I also attended another K-Family event with the Owego Kiwanis! The Owego Kiwanis hosted a trivia night at the Owego Elks Lodge on March 1st. The Owego Key Club and Candor Key Club both had teams. It was a great bonding event for the two branches of the K-Family!

We also hosted Lieutenant Governor Elections! On March 5th at Seton Catholic Central, Margaret Ryan addressed the division with her goals for the upcoming service year. Congratulations again, Margaret! You’re going to do an amazing job!
