The Leadership Training Conference is quickly approaching! Last year, about 800 Key Clubbers from around the state gathered at the Desmond in Albany, NY to celebrate another remarkable year of service. These lucky Key Clubbers attended workshops led by district and international officers, listened to famous keynotes speakers, elected the 2018-19 executive board, and networked with Key Clubbers from different parts of New York. This year the Leadership Training Conference runs from March 29th to the 31st at the Desmond Hotel, and the 2018-19 New York District Board wants to see YOU there! LTC is an amazing event, so I really encourage all of you to go. To learn more, turn to page six!

Greetings Division 20! Happy February! January seemed to last forever. In the month of January, we cranked out so much Key Club work! We hosted a fundraiser for “The Thirst Project,” you all have been applying for awards, and some of you have been helping with planning for the Spaghetti Dinner that’s being hosted by the Broome County Kiwanis. Along with hosting many service projects, you all have been doing so well with paperwork! We had 8 out of the 9 schools turn in the December MRF. We also are the third division to have dues fully paid! Thank you everyone for your hard work! Unfortunately, the service year is coming to an end. I am still looking for a Lieutenant Governor, so if you know anyone, send them my way! And since it’s ending, that means the Leadership Training Conference will be here in 51 days! I really encourage you all to look into going because it’s an eye opening experience to what Key Club really is beyond the club level. This will be my first LTC, so I hope we can enjoy it together! To learn more about LTC, flip to page six! With the Leadership Training Conference comes awards, and I really encourage all of you to apply for some! There are so many, so just take a look through the awards booklet to see what’s right for you. The booklet can be found attached to many of my emails. That’s all for now! I have loved serving as your Lieutenant Governor, so let’s finish this service year with a bang! Yours in service, Camille Brock

Service Spotlights! This month, the Candor Key Club hosted a Winter Outerwear Drive! They placed paper bags in each homeroom for everyone to donate to, and then collected them after two weeks. They collected about 70 items, including items for both adults and children. These articles are being donated to the Food Pantry in Candor. From there, they will be handed out there to those in need! - Corey Whatley (Candor Key Club President)
The soup kitchen was an enlightening experience. Living in New York City we constantly see people who are less fortunate than us, whether it is on a city street corner or on the train. How many times has someone stopped to give them food or start a small conversation with them? The soup kitchen was the chance for us to make a difference for homeless people. Our day started at 10:00 on a nice Saturday morning. We went to the fourth floor to help set up for lunch while the people we would be serving watched a movie downstairs. Along with other volunteers we set up tables and chairs. Then we were assigned to go downstairs and serve snacks to those watching the movie. We served coffee, iced tea, eggnog, and cookies and while serving them we had a chance to make small talk. It was amazing to see everyone come together and be so happy especially so close to the holiday. The thankfulness in their eyes and hope made me feel good about sacrificing my day to give my time to the people. I am appreciative and feel blessed for what I have, yet today made me realize just how lucky I am to have my family, friends, and health. - Meghan Stern (Division 9 Midwood HS)Â

“One Tree Planted” is this year’s district project! Every year, the New York District Board votes on what charity they would like to raise funds for. The 2018-19 board voted for “One Tree Planted!” “One Tree Planted” is a nonprofit organization based out of Vermont. Their mission is to plant trees around the world. $1 plants one tree. It’s that simple! They’ve planted in North America, Latin America, Asia, and Africa.
