Admissions, Visit Cards and Memberships (all prices include GST) New Aquatic Membership Program The City of Lethbridge has recently launched new leisure management software. Through this new electronic system, pass holders will need to use a swipe card called a Fun Pass. The Fun Pass can be used to access a number of City facilities including memberships for most pools and skating rinks. Pass holders are able to access all facility programing given they meet the age and program requirements. Please see Program Choices in the Guide for more information. •A 1 month and 12 month membership option has been added on top of the existing 3 and 6 month options. •Another price level has been added to separate children and youth. Happy 50 th to Meals on Wheels Meals on Wheels started in Lethbridge on and groups attended a meeting at the 14 September 1970. Bowman Arts Centre in March to see if there was sufficient support. There was, and the group worked towards society status and approval to canvas the city for funds. Ethel Reid was the first service coordinator (a role she filled until 1979) and by September everything was in place. When the program started, clients had to agree to accept the service for an entire week and the food was prepared by a local catering service, with volunteers picking up the packaged meals and delivering them at noon.
The idea itself, delivering a hot meal to those unable to cook for themself, started in London shortly after the Second World War. It was adopted in Canada, first in Montreal and Toronto and then spread across the country. By February 1970, the inter-Faith Church Women’s group of Lethbridge decided to plan a pilot project. Interested individuals
Over the years, various organizations and individuals helped Meals on Wheels, through volunteering, fund-raising, coordination and more. The program is still going strong, 50 years later.

The Lethbridge Handicraft Guild is entering into its 71st year and a whole new landscape. With the current Global pandemic, our Guild, which was founded and cultivated largely by the gathering and sharing of information from it’s members has had to pivot in the last months as many groups have had to stay connected. While our studio was empty for many months, our members have been busy weaving in their home studios, planning projects and brainstorming ways to keep our community alive and well in these increasingly stressful times. In many ways this pandemic has unveiled just how resilient our weaving community is. We have successfully continued on with our meetings through Zoom, planned projects for our annual sales and when were finally allowed back in our Casa studio, gathered once again in small groups following all of the required guidelines.
difficult to keep everyone engaged and to honour and build upon the incredible knowledge some of our long standing members hold. With that being said, we are happy to say in some ways this pandemic is helping us to weave together some of the old and new. We are finding new ways to share information, spending more time on our social media platforms and planning ways to collect and sell our inventory if in-person sales and gatherings are once again suspended. We are finding out how important this community is not only for our members but for all of the people who take pleasure in hand picking and using the items we create. We will be offering our Taste of Weaving Classes again in the fall and are happy to see so many new people interested in our craft and finding peace while learning to weave. Many say it’s a time to quiet the mind and focus solely on what you’re creating, a welcome moment of stillness, much needed in times of uncertainty.
This may sound like an obvious course to follow for most but our Guild Learn more about our Guild on Facebook and Instagram is unique in that we have members spanning all ages, with some being @lethbridge.weavers or on our website www.lethbridgeweavers.ca active almost since the Guild’s inception. Local love is the stuff that fuels our communities. It makes sure families have nutritious food. It creates opportunities for social inclusion. It helps kids to be confident in themselves. Local love helps us create pathways out of poverty so people and families in our community can thrive. In 2020-2021, United Way’s Community Fund will support community programs at 14 local organizations in Lethbridge & South Western Alberta. Collectively, they help thousands of people each year.

Similar to Will Scarlet, looking soft while walking slowly through the forest when he encountered Robinhood, porcupines prefer to avoid combat: unnerving their opponents by erecting quills, turning their back, ominous teeth chattering, and even screaming during mating season. Urine scent also provides vital information.

Set an Active Example Making Family Active Time a Priority As fall begins and school resumes, we find ourselves busy once again. It's easy to let activities that were easy to fit in during the summer months slide out of habit, but consider keeping active time a priority. When adults put active living high on the priority list, our kids tend to follow suit, setting them up for a healthy, active lifestyle now and in the future. As highlighted in the 2020 ParticipACTION Report Card on Physical Activity for Children and Youth, planning the time to be active as a family can go a long way to ensuring both you and your family hit the recommended amount of active minutes – kids (ages five to 17) need 60 minutes of moderate-to-vigorous activity each day and adults require 150 minutes every week. So keep up those family walks and bike rides, trips to the park and games in the backyard. Let's show our kids how much fun it is to be active, and in the process, reap the benefits like increased fitness, stronger muscles and bones and improved mental health and wellness.

Public Information & Events
"Sik-Ooh-Kotoki - Sport Connections - Lethbridge" is a group formed to make it easier for people of Lethbridge and the surrounding area, to find out about sport, physical activity and recreation (SPAR) activities and programs. We need your help; please share activities and programs such as sport camps, free come-try-sport events, or even a game of 3-on-3 basketball pick-up happening at an outdoor court. Ask questions. Share information. Get moving. Stay healthy. Lethbridge Sport Council and our members value sport for its impact physically, socially, emotionally, and mentally. No other domain of community life has demonstrated sport’s capacity to connect so many young people to positive adult role models and mentors, opportunities for positive development, and help to acquire critical life skills. In the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada Final Report (2015), sport and recreation are identified as tools for social development to improve the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities.

Let's Go On A Listening Walk A great way to the practice of mindfulness is through mindful listening, taking time to listen to the sounds around us. Focusing your attention on sounds is a bit easier than bringing your attention to the breath. It’s more concrete — and it can be a bit more fun. Add a peaceful element to your next walk by going on a listening walk. Take the time to enjoy the peace and quiet or even the hustle and bustle of your neighborhood. Listen carefully… what do you hear?
______ Children giggling
______ A dog barking
______ The wind whispering
______ Cars driving by
______ Buzzing bees
______ An airplane flying
______ Crows cawing
______ Geese honking
______ A car door slamming
______ People talking
