Admissions, Visit Cards and Memberships (all prices include GST) New Aquatic Membership Program The City of Lethbridge has recently launched new leisure management software. Through this new electronic system, pass holders will need to use a swipe card called a Fun Pass. The Fun Pass can be used to access a number of City facilities including memberships for most pools and skating rinks. Along with the launch of the Fun Pass comes more streamlined pool membership options and a new fee structure. •The recreation pass and the fitness advantage pass options have been combined into one single pass and merged into a new fee structure. • The Fun Pass will give access to three indoor facilities (Fritz Sick, Nicholas Sheran and Stan Siwik) along with the Henderson outdoor pool in the summer season. Pass holders are able to access all facility programing given they meet the age and program requirements. Please see Program Choices in the Guide for more information. •A 1 month and 12 month membership option has been added on top of the existing 3 and 6 month options. •Another price level has been added to separate children and youth. (see rates below).

ABOUT THE POOLS FAQ’s - Admission Policy Why is there an Admission Policy at the pools?
As “the Lifeguarding Experts” the Lifesaving Society has been setting the standard for Lifeguarding for over 45 years. The Lifesaving Society helps to set Aquatic Safety Standards in Canada in an effort to fulfill their Mission Statement : To prevent drowning and water-related incidents for all Canadians by providing: - lifesaving, lifeguarding, and leadership education - public education - water safety research In the Public Aquatic Facility Safety Standards manual it is stated that Admission Policies shall be established as part of the facility rules including items such as minimum age and requirements for supervision of children. As an affliate of the Lifesaving Society Recreation Excellence follows the standards set out by the Society and their efforts to prevent drowning. Secondary to the safety of the child is the risk management issues that could arise should any orgranization involved in Lifegaurding choose not to follow these standards. As a responsible company Recreation Excellence makes every effort to ensure the safety of the patrons that come to the facilities we operate. The Lifesaving Society continually reviews and makes changes to standards and such items like Admission Policies can change as standards change. The current policy at the Lethbridge Pools is: “Children under the age of 8yrs and those that can’t swim must be within arms reach of an Adult” If you are not within arms reach you have gone too far - it only takes seconds for the unthinkable to happen and even though pools are supervised it is everyone’s responsibility for the safety of a child.

Alberta’s Flag Turns 50! The Alberta flag was adopted by the Alberta legislature on June 1, 1968. The flag was formed from the Alberta provincial shield set on a blue background. Alberta’s original provincial shield (designed as Alberta’s Coat of Arms) was created in 1907 and was described as “Azure in front of a Range of Snow Mountains proper a Range of Hills Vert, in base a Wheat Field surmounted by a Prairie both also proper, on a Chief Argent a St. George’s Cross”
The shield was chosen from many submitted during a competition and was designed by Mrs. H. McCully of Lacombe, Alberta. The shield was used as the arms of Alberta until 1980 when a crest, supporters and motto were added to create a new Coat of Arms for the province.

SUMMER GROUPS Get a Grip Does your child struggle to hold his pencil in the correct grip? Does your child tire easily during fine motor tasks such as coloring, drawing and printing? Is it difficult to get your child to the table to work on printing skills? Is holding a utensil difficult and does your child require assistance doing up buttons/ zippers? Fine motor skills are an essential part of everyday life. Our Registered Occupational Therapist is excited to offer this group to help facilitate those important skills. Through interactive activities such as obstacle courses, yoga poses, indoor scavenger hunts, secret missions and finger gym activities this group will target both gross motor movements and fine motor skills that are essential for participation in tasks required of us during everyday life.

Stafford Tot Lot is an awesome little pocket park located in the heart of the Stafford neighbourhood. The park backs on to the new Scenic Dr. extension, and provides awesome sunset vistas and views of our spectacular coulees. The recently updated playground features an imaginative climbing structure complete with slide, as well as toddler and disc swings. Visiting this park is a great opportunity to explore the neighbourhood, and find a spot you might not have known about before. With its close proximity to the coulees, you are likely to catch a glimpse of deer, rabbits or one of several bird species local to our area.
