Admissions, Visit Cards and Memberships (all prices include GST) New Aquatic Membership Program The City of Lethbridge has recently launched new leisure management software. Through this new electronic system, pass holders will need to use a swipe card called a Fun Pass. The Fun Pass can be used to access a number of City facilities including memberships for most pools and skating rinks. Along with the launch of the Fun Pass comes more streamlined pool membership options and a new fee structure. •The recreation pass and the fitness advantage pass options have been combined into one single pass and merged into a new fee structure. • The Fun Pass will give access to three indoor facilities (Fritz Sick, Nicholas Sheran and Stan Siwik) along with the Henderson outdoor pool in the summer season. Pass holders are able to access all facility programing given they meet the age and program requirements. Please see Program Choices in the Guide for more information. •A 1 month and 12 month membership option has been added on top of the existing 3 and 6 month options. •Another price level has been added to separate children and youth. (see rates below).

Registrations can be made online (www.lethbridge.ca/swimlessons), by phone or in person (online is encouraged) - registration is on a first come first served basis - if registering by phone please Do Not leave a message - keep trying Participants may register in a maximum of two (2) classes/session Participants may waitlist in any class

- Withdrawals received more than fourteen (14) days prior to the start of the lesson set or course will not be subject to a withdrawal fee. - Withdrawals made between five (5) and fourteen (14) days prior to the lesson start date will be subject to a 10% withdrawal fee. The remaining balance may be left on your account for future use or a refund may be requested. Refunds of less than $5.00 will remain on the account. - You may withdraw and re-register into another program without penalty prior to five (5) days before the lesson start date. - No refunds will be given if withdrawal is within five (5) days of the lesson start date.

Fees Fees must be paid in full at the time of registration. Cash, Debit, Visa, MC, Rec Ex Gift Card & cheque are accepted in person. Cheques are payable to Recreation Excellence. Post dated cheques are not accepted. A $25 charge will be applied to all NSF cheques. Only Visa & MC are accepted for phone registrations. Visa & MC Debit cards are accepted online and in person.

Registration for the Spring 2019 Lesson Sessions begins: Mar 19, 2019 for both Nicholas Sheran & Stan Siwik pools. Transfers All transfers are subject to availability and may be made without penalty up to five (5) days prior to the lesson start date. Transfers made by Recreation Excellence will not incur a penalty. Any resulting increase in program fees due to the transfer must be paid by the customer at the time of transfer.

Medical / Relocation Withdrawals for medical / relocation reasons are permitted with no penalty prior to the lesson start date. Refunds for withdrawal after the lesson start date will result in a pro-rated refund or credit on account. Proof of medical / relocation must be provided within two (2) weeks of notification of withdrawal for refunds or credits to be issued.

Cancellations Programs with insufficient registration are subject to cancellation. Customers will be notified as soon as a decision regarding cancellation has been made. All efforts will be made to accomodate any registrants displaced by cancellations. A full refund or credit to account will be issued for courses cancelled by Recreation Excellence.

Visit Cards / Passes Passes are available in 1, 3, 6 and 12 month terms. Passes are non-transferable which means others cannot use them. Refunds for passes are granted only for medical or relocation reasons. Proof of medical and proof of relocation must be provided in each case for a refund to be issued. All requests must be made before the pass expiry date. Refunds will be pro-rated for the unused portion of the pass. Passes are valid at all pools so extensions will not be granted for Annual Shutdowns. Visit cards are transferable and do not expire. They are non-refundable

Lost or Stolen Cards At the request of the card holder lost or stolen cards will be replaced. A $5.00 lost card fee will apply (includes GST).

Daughters of Uranium explores the legacy of the atomic age from the perspective of the sentient body and intergenerational trauma. Crania is an exhibition featuring twelve mixed media sculptures that call attention to the material excess of cultural production.

Introducing Bletcher Hour! The SAAG’s new critical reading group named after Lethbridge’s first Librarian, Mary Hazel Bletcher. Readings will relate to current exhibitions and dig a little deeper to explore key themes in the work. Everyone is welcome to attend. Bletcher Hour will be hosted by Tara Lynn MacDougall. Tara is an interdisciplinary artist currently based in Lethbridge, AB. She holds an MFA in Art from the University of Lethbridge (2018) and a BFA from NSCAD University (2007).

“The influence of linear development on elk populations in the Foothills region of Southern Alberta” by Jayme Ladouceur Elk can be found throughout Alberta in the foothills and rocky mountains. Elk migrate from higher summer ranges to lower valleys and foothills during the winter months. Bulls can weigh as much as 450 kilograms (1000 pounds). Cows can weigh up to 270 kilograms (600 pounds).

Elk usually graze on forbs and grasses, although they will browse on aspen bark and twigs in winter if food is scarce. Elk are the only members of the deer family in Alberta that collect harems.

The name "elk" originated with early European settlers in the United States, who confused it with the European elk, which is a close relative of our moose. north American elk are more closely related to the European red deer. Elk are often called "wapiti," the Shawnee word for "white rump." This description refers to the prominent, cream-colored rump patch. “Ponoká” is the Blackfoot word for elk. ABOUT US: The Lethbridge Minor Softball Association is a non-profit organization which offers programs for Lethbridge and area youth to participate in the sport of softball. Boys and girls from age five to nineteen are eligible to play in divisions of two year increments. Learn to Play programs offer instruction so that the skills to play are fundamentally developed. Players will participate, a minimum, twice a week in practices, training sessions or games which will run from late April, (weather permitting), through to the end of June. Our association has a house league but also a competitive provincial team for players wanting to challenge themselves. We believe that you are never too old to register and regardless of experience we would love to have you come out and learn the sport which is described as a lifelong sport that encourages physical activity along with social enjoyment!

Shinny Hockey

Beginner Skate: A slower-paced time for people to practice their skating basics. Skating aids are allowed during this skate. Helmets are recommended. Family Skate: A special time for parents and children (17 yrs. of age & under) to enjoy a skate together. Parent & Tot Skate: Free Fun time for parents & pre-school children to learn how to skate. Helmets are recommended. Public Skate: A skate open to everyone to enjoy. Senior Skate: A skate open for everyone 55 years and over.

Youth Shinny Hockey: For ages 5 to 15 years, shinny hockey is played with a sponge puck with no body contact and no slap shots. Play is on half ice and is coordinated by Ice Marshals. Players require a hockey stick, skates and a helmet. Adult Shinny Hockey: Informal hockey for adults is played with a hard puck with no body contact or slap shots. It is played on full ice and is self-supervised. Protective equipment is required. Senior Shinny Hockey: Senior shinny hockey is for adults 55 and over with no body contact and no slap shots. Protective equipment is required.
