Ferruginous Hawk Did you know?
Ferruginous hawks are the largest of the hawks soaring in North America.
The name ferruginous comes from the Latin word ferrugo, meaning rust. As its name suggests, the ferruginous hawk is a light colored hawk with a rustcolored back.
Ferruginous hawks banded in Alberta have been found wintering in Colorado, New Mexico, Kansas, Texas, and California.
In Alberta, the ferruginous hawk feeds mainly on rodents. Ground squirrels make up nearly 90% of the diet.

Staying active when life get busy Summer is winding down and September never fails to be a busy month. With kids back at school and work in full swing, it can be hard to maintain a healthy routine. So how can we make sure we stay healthy and active despite everything life throws at us? It doesn’t matter what activities you choose; the key is to get up and do them! Take advantage of the beautiful September weather and go for a walk or bike ride with friends and family. Choose activities that will get your heart rate going and even challenge yourself to break a sweat. Exercise has so many benefits, including improving moods, controlling weight, boosting energy, and promoting better sleep. Strive to make it a regular part of your lifestyle. Here are a few tips to stay active when things get busy: 1. Schedule “me time” into your calendar. Don't be afraid to reserve an hour for your own personal wellness. 2. Turn your commute to work into a workout - try biking or walking. 3. Take the stairs instead of the elevator. The extra steps will add up quick over the course of a month! 4. We know it can be hard, but try getting up 30 minutes earlier to go walking or squeeze a workout in. 5. Use Sunday evenings to meal prep and plan healthy meals for the entire week.

New Facilities offer extra benefits to dancers and parents One of the most important features of a dance studio is the type of dance flooring used. The new facility now has four large air conditioned dance studios with floating “Timestep” floors. These floors are used by the Joffrey Ballet School in New York. They have hundreds of compression foam blocks under the surface that absorb the impact of dancing and help keep teachers and dancers more energized. They also aid in injury prevention. There are full mirrors throughout the studio to help students observe their movements while learning and two levels of ballet barres to accommodate the differing heights of the dancers. The dance rooms have a clean air exchange system to help students breathe easily while dancing. There is a comfortable waiting area for parents and siblings to view classes, a large change room space for the dancers and over 40 off street parking stalls. Exisdance approaches the art of dance with passion and strives to provide a positive and creative atmosphere. Students are encouraged to have fun while expanding their skills. Exisdance will be accepting new registrations now and throughout the early fall. For more information contact the school at 403 320 – 1593 or visit them at www.exisdance.com for helpful information on getting started in dance classes.
