Admissions, Visit Cards and Memberships (all prices include GST) New Aquatic Membership Program The City of Lethbridge has recently launched new leisure management software. Through this new electronic system, pass holders will need to use a swipe card called a Fun Pass. The Fun Pass can be used to access a number of City facilities including memberships for most pools and skating rinks. Along with the launch of the Fun Pass comes more streamlined pool membership options and a new fee structure. •The recreation pass and the fitness advantage pass options have been combined into one single pass and merged into a new fee structure. • The Fun Pass will give access to three indoor facilities (Fritz Sick, Nicholas Sheran and Stan Siwik) along with the Henderson outdoor pool in the summer season. Pass holders are able to access all facility programing given they meet the age and program requirements. Please see Program Choices in the Guide for more information. •A 1 month and 12 month membership option has been added on top of the existing 3 and 6 month options. •Another price level has been added to separate children and youth. (see rates below).

Art Auction | Presented by Avison Young September 15 | 7 PM Tickets: $125 SAAG’s 26 annual Art Auction continues to highlight the philanthropic spirit of our Southern Alberta community. With a few new and exciting additions to this year’s event, you’re sure to be impressed with a night of sultry jazz, delicious food, exceptional martini’s and specialty drinks, and a chance to add a piece of amazing, one-of-a-kind art to your collection – all in support of the Southern Alberta Art Gallery. This year features an enticing array of eclectic and thought-provoking pieces donated from artists all over the world, as well as unique items and experiences generously donated by local businesses and individuals throughout Southern Alberta. We will also have an Art Auction preview September 14; join our Kristy Trinier and Calgary-based art collectors Dell & Lauren Pohlman for conversation about collecting contemporary art, as well as an early look at Art Auction items, with a chance to place reserve bids. All the proceeds raised at the Art Auction will support our Live Art. Love SAAG. campaign – a three-year, $1 million fundraising initiative. For more information or purchase tickets, visit saag.ca.
SEARCH ENGINES: One does not exactly know what one does not know September 28 to 30, 2018 | 10 AM $75 workshop fee Registration deadline: Friday, September 14, 2018
Facilitated by Adriana Disman and Didier Morelli, participants will be lead through body-based exercises that may be strenuous and soft, fast and slow, pleasurable and uncomfortable. Activating the facilitators’ backgrounds in performance art, theatre, art history, writing, running, and reading, participants will enter into both solo and group processes that will question their basis of creative research. They will leave the workshop with a new set of tools that they can activate within their own studio/research practices, as well as a new search history of content they’ve generated within these different search engines. No performance background is necessary, but a willingness to engage bodily with the unknown is required. This workshop is generously brought about by the support of M:ST, The Southern Alberta Art Gallery, and Trap\Door Artist Run Centre.

Public Lands The Lethbridge Naturalists’ Society Join us to learn more about your natural world! Next meeting: LNS Potluck September 9 5-7pm at Popson Park Picnic Shelter Photo: Helen Schuler Nature Centre
Public lands are often considered one of the best ideas the west ever had: land that you and I can enjoy that is a wild and undeveloped, provides a safe haven for wildlife, ensures secure landscape for headwaters, and much more. Public lands make up the majority of land that is not privately owned – about 60% of Alberta. This includes parks and protected areas, Alberta’s forests and mountains, and a large portion of the grasslands and foothills of southern Alberta. For the Alberta public to continue to benefit from the value provided by these lands, they must be conserved and kept in the public domain in perpetuity.
Did You Know?
On October 10 the Lethbridge Naturalists’ Society is proud to present Nick Pink of the Alberta Wilderness Association (AWA) to share the importance of Public Lands through discussion and a screening of “Our Public Lands - A Treasure to Protect”.

Our Public Lands series takes viewers on a journey through the diverse public lands of Alberta. With the help of recognized Albertan public lands experts, the series examines the history of public lands, the challenges they face today, and our responsibility to maintain them into the future. Source: https://albertawilderness.ca/issues/wildlands/public-lands/
Everyone is welcome to attend the Potluck to meet other naturalists and share recent sightings! We will have boiled water so people can make coffee or tea. People are invited to bring a casserole, salad or dessert to share with everyone; people are also instructed to bring their own plates and cutlery.
We enjoy a social meal together, then usually go for a short hike along the edge of the river before sundown.

Physical Literacy What is it?
And why does it matter?
HOW IS PHYSICAL LITERACY DEVELOPED? Kids develop physical literacy gradually through a variety of structured and unstructured activities. The nature of these activities changes as kids grow in age and ability. - Active for Life
The benefits of physical literacy aren’t limited to physical health. It also improves academic performance, cognitive skills, mental health, psychological wellness, social skills, and healthy lifestyle habits. All children should master fundamental movement skills and develop physical literacy. - Sport for Life For more information about physical literacy, and ideas about how to get you kids (and yourself) physically literate, visit: www.activeforlife.com www.sportforlife.ca
Physical literacy isn’t just for sports. It’s part of a spectrum of essential life skills children need to live complete, healthy lives.
Did You Know?
WHAT IS PHYSICAL LITERACY? Physical literacy is when kids have developed the skills, confidence, and love of movement to be physically active for life.
