A W o m a n’ s W o r l d A womens perfect breakfast... She's sitting at the table with her gourmet coffee. Her son is on the cover of the Hello Magazine. Her daughter is on the cover of Business Week. Her boyfriend is on the cover of Playgirl. And her husband is on the back of the milk carton. A womens revenge...”Cash or card?' I asked, after folding items the woman wished to purchase. As she fumbled for herpurse, I noticed a remote control for a television set in her handbag. 'So, do you always carry your TV remote?' I asked. 'No,' she replied, 'but my husband refused to come shopping with me, and I figured this was the most evil thing I could do to him legally.' Understanding women (from a man’s perspective)...I know I'm not going to understand

women. I'll never understand how you can take boiling hot wax, pour it onto your upper thigh and surrounding areas, rip the hair out by the root, and still be afraid of a spider.

Huband V’s Wife...A couple drove down a country road for several miles, not saying a word. An earlier discussion had led to an argument and neither of them wanted to concede their position. As they passed a barnyard of mules, goats, and pigs, the husband asked sarcastically, 'Relatives of yours?' 'Yep,' the wife replied, 'in-laws.'

Kate Middleton seems to have the golden touch with everything…. Her wedding dress has earned the royal family £10million! The Sarah Burton creation for the Alexander McQueen label was the star attraction of an exhibition at the Queen's house (that's Buckingham Palace to commoners like us), and over 626,000 people went to visit it over 73-day period. According to the Evening Standard, the exhibition in 2011 was much more popular than the one in the previous year. Visitor numbers were 52 per cent higher, mostly thanks to the display, which included the tiara and earrings Kate wore for her wedding to Prince William (or the Duke of Cambridge, as he's now properly known). "Creepy" Cabinet: One important person wasn't a very big fan of the display, though. Her majesty, Queen Elizabeth, was upset with the case, labelling it "horrible" and "very creepy" because the dress and tiara were shown on a headless mannequin. The wedding helped to boost interest in all things regal, with the Royal Collection's income leaping from £8.5million to £50.2million in 2011/12. Jonathan Marsden, director of the Royal Collection, said: "“Unprecedented numbers came to see the duchess’s wedding dress, as the centrepiece of a special display celebrating the role of British design.” And Kate's taste doesn't come cheap. Accounts revealed last month showed that Prince Charles' spending has risen simply because he's been having to pay for the garb that Kate wears at official functions. That £10million surely makes up for the estimated £35,000 Kate's spent on her wardrobe already this year, right? Right.

The Rock Of Ages star was surfing the web when he came across a site that offered licenses to officiate marriages. X Factor 2012: tulisa denies scherzinger riFt rumours

The new series of The X Factor hasn’t even reached our TV screens yet, and judge Tulisa Contostavlos has already hit out at reports that there is a feud between her and new judge Nicole Scherzinger. According to the latest gossip the N-Dubz star and the former Pussycat Doll aren’t on good terms, and during the boot camp sessions in Liverpool Gary Barlow has moved from his place at the end of the judges’ table to split them up. However, Tulisa has since taken to Twitter to say there is no rift, “P**s off media with all ur me n @NicoleScherzy beef talk,” Tulisa writes. “We get on fine! Just coz we r different doesnt mean we dont like each other!n if we didnt..believe me,Id let u know.” The Kelly Rowland feud: Tulisa is known for her feistiness, and during last year’s X Factor she did fall out with co-judge Kelly Rowland. Despite their best efforts to pretend like they were friends Tulisa and Kelly are no longer in touch.

rolling in the deep - amounts oF wonga....

Adele has been named as number six in the list of highest paid celebrities under the age of 30. Rolling In The Deep? She's rolling in cash now! The rich list compiled by Forbes worked out that the Someone Like You singer had earnt a huge £23 million between May 2011 and May 2012. With that she could buy eight Bugatti Veyron Supersports, the most expensive make of car in the world. Or maybe she could buy four private jets with gold fittings and built in DVD players? But if she felt like a casual getaway, she could opt for Katafanga Island just off Fiji – 225 acres of land with a 5000 acres lagoon surrounding it. What’s a girl to do? The mum-to-be has worked hard for her cash though, having the world’s best selling album last year with 21. The album sold over more than 17 million copies, with four million being brought in the UK alone.

A Smartie And A Polo... One day, a Smartie and a Polo were enjoying a quiet drink in a bar. The bar door opened, and in walked a Humbug. "Oh no!" shouted the Polo, diving underneath the table. "What are you doing?" said the Smartie. "That humbug always slaps me and bullies me whenever I see him, so I'm hiding" said the Polo. "You should stand up to him" said the Smartie. "He'll respect you if you do" Sure enough, the humbug walks over and gives the Polo a smack. "Clear off stripy, or I'll knock you out" said Polo. "Na, no problem Polo mate, I'll leave it" said Humbug. Next night Polo & Smartie are sitting in the bar, when Humbug walks in with his friend, Tune. "Oh no! shouted Smartie, diving underneath the table. "What are you doing?" shouted Polo, "I know you told me to stand up to bullies, but he's with Tune" said Smartie. "So?" said Polo. "He's completely menthol" said Smartie.

IcelandIc volcano causes european Travel chaos

By the end of the easter 2010 everyone in the uK could spell eyjafjallajokullthe name of a volcano situated in Iceland. Well, maybe not, but the obscure volcano caused chaos as hundreds of flights were grounded as volcanic ash drifted over uK and european airspace for more than 5 days. Thousands of British holidaymakers arrived at airports across the globe to find their return journeys cancelled, leaving them stranded abroad for days on end. The ordeal was not only an inconvenience, it was an economic disaster. It is estimated that airlines lost £130m a day collectively, while tourists not covered by comprehensive travel insurance had to shell out for additional accommodation and, in some cases, alternative means of travel.

larry Walters, more commonly known as “lawnchair larry”, caused delays for thousands of plane passengers in 1982 when he took to the skies in a garden chair strapped with 45 helium weather balloons. his airship, dubbed “Inspiration I”, climbed over 15,000 feet, but the escapade went awry when he drifted close to los angeles International airport. larry was tracked by traffic control after being spotted by a passing plane. realising he was causing quite a stir he decided to ground his eccentric flight there and then. The stunt captured the imagination of the us public and “lawnchair larry” appeared on a number of popular chat shows, although he was fined £940 [$1,500] for “operating an aircraft near an airport without establishing and maintaining two-way communications with the control tower”. con’t on page 22

I’MSORRY I’M RUNNING LATE... MarMite spill on the M1

tailbacks are not usually much of a talking point, but when it is a Marmite spill that makes you late for work then it’s a different matter. Drivers on a section of the M1 in Yorkshire were kept from making it to work on time in november last yea after a tanker overturned, shedding Marmite over the busy motorway. the spill caused chaos on the roads as the highways agency had a big job clearing it up. You know what they say - either you love it or you hate it…

turtles escape onto JFK airport tarMac

planes can get delayed for just about any reason but turtles on the runway? that’s what happened at JFK international airport, new York, last year as more than 100 diamondback terrapins toddled across the tarmac to find an ideal spot to lay their eggs. the fiasco caused JFK’s runway 4 to close for more than an hour, delaying a number of flights. it’s not the first time the airport, which is largely surrounded by water, has seen the daredevil turtles. a similar incident occurred in 2009 when the same runway was closed after 78 terrapins made the same journey. according to the us Federal aviation administration there have been 18 cases of terrapins interfering with aircraft flows between 1990 and 2007.

lastly, and most bizarrely, a ramp to a us highway was closed off as canisters of frozen bull semen fell from a bus and were later found emitting vapour from the side of the road. strangely the semen was being carried in a Greyhound bus carrying passengers from ohio to texas, though the company said that the liquid were being carried in a separate compartment to the luggage.

A cLIppING fROM A GERMAN NEwSpApER: not sure if this is true or not, but funny either way... "in retrospect, i admit it was unwise to try to gain access to my house via the cat flap," Gregor Knopf admitted to reporters in Bremen, Germany. "i suppose that's the reason they're called cat flaps, rather than human flaps, is because they're too small for people, and perhaps i should have realized that." Knopf (41), a gardener from Bremen, was relating how he had become trapped in his own front door for 2 days, after losing his house keys. "i got my head and shoulders through the flap but became trapped fast around the waist. at first, it all seemed rather amusing, i sang songs and told myself jokes. But then i wanted to go to the lavatory. i began shouting for help, but my head was in the hallway so my screams were muffled." "after a few hours, a group of students approached me but, instead of helping, they removed my trousers and pants, painted my buttocks bright blue, and stuck a daffodil between my cheeks. then they placed a sign next to me which said: 'Germany resurgent, an essay in street art. please give generously' and left me there. people were passing by and, when i asked for help, they just said 'Very good! Very clever!' and threw coins into my trousers." "no one tried to free me. in fact, i only got free after two days because a dog started licking my private parts and an old woman complained to the police. the rescue services came and cut me out, but the police arrested me as soon as i was free. luckily, they've now dropped the charges, and i collected over €3,000 in my underpants, so the time wasn't entirely wasted."

IT’S OFFICIAL: IT’S A MAN’S WORLD!

A Man’s World

researchers at the university of calcutta have completed a 5year study into the control of earth by various sectors of humankind. their findings show that men dominate, closely followed by women, then old people and then finally babies.

"everywhere you go you can see signs of this dominance", said the lead researcher, Dr. prachet Gujaral, "they put a man on the Moon, you see sign posts saying 'Men at Work', - these are just some examples we have seen in our own studies. "in shops you see Mannequins. people are refered to as 'huMan beings'. Wings sang about a 'Man on the run'. Why not a woman? Why?!" "even the name 'woman' is just 'man' with a 'wo' put in front of it", he added, its just unfair really, isn't it?" old people are represented by 'old spice' aftershave whilst babies have a smaller degree of influence and only feature in novelty car-signs like 'Baby on Board' and 'Worlds cutest Baby'.

BEER HORMONES!! Finally, scientific proof! "Yesterday scientists revealed that beer contains small traces of female hormones. to prove their theory, the scientists fed 100 men 12 pints of beer and observed that 75% of them became emotional, 80% talked excessively without making sense and 100% couldn't drive. no further testing is planned."

feeding Time At The Zoo a zookeeper starts his new job on a Friday this helps him to break into things before a fresh week. his first duty is to clear out the aviary. he is happily sweeping away when suddenly he hears a "crunch". to his dismay he looks down to find he has accidentally trodden on & killed a rare finch. not wanting to get in trouble he panics, scoops up the bird & throws it in the lion enclosure, the hungry lion gobbling it up. he returns to his supervisor, and for his next duty gets send to feed the chimps in the chimp house. he starts to play with the chimps throwing them fruit, letting them swing off his broom. in his exuberance however, he manages to knock a chimp off balance that falls awkwardly from a tree & breaks his neck. "oh no" he thinks .. "i've killed 2 animals on my first day .. i'm bound to get sacked". so again, while nobody is looking he picks up the chimp & throws him in the lion's enclosure where the lion gobbles him up. sheepishly he returns to his supervisor, who unknowingly is pleased with his work. For his final task of the day the supervisor sends him to the beehives. the zoo keeps its own bees to sell honey in the shop. his task is to collect the honeycombs to make the honey. this time all seems to be going fine, until a bee gets inside his mask. Frantically he trys to swat the bee, but topples over onto the hive, smashing it & crushing all the other bees! to avoid the sack once more, he scoops up the crushed bees & throws them to the lion. next day, there's a new arrival at the zoo ... a mate for the lion. "What's the food like here ?" asks the new arrival. "oh, you know" says the lion... "Just the usual Friday stuff... Finch, chimp & Mushy Bees..."

Pets with Itchy, scabby skin!! Mites, aside from ticks, are usually only noticed when skin problems and mange become evident. Mange or harvest mites are usually characterized by itchy skin, hair loss and general skin irritation, 50% of pets visiting the salon at the moment are showing signs of harvest mites which are bumpy scaly skin, small scabs & sores, hair loss & itchy skin if your pet shows any of these symptoms then we are 90% sure it is harvest/grass mites that burrow under your pets skin & cause major irritation, we see these signs year after year in the months of June, July & August, they look like little spots of orange pollen & tend to be in between toes, around the nose , in armpits etc... Conventional methods of eradicating mites will often depend on the type of mite living on your pet. However, most conventional treatments will involve some type chemical based lotion, dip or shampoo. Many of these products contain harsh chemicals such as amitraz, ivermectin, and selamectin which often come with warnings but we at Posh Pets are used to handling such chemicals & ensure the total safety for your pet & ourselves. We have found that our treatments are far better & more economical than most other treatments on the market. Neem and Lemongrass also act as natural insecticides and their natural skin healing properties help to soothe irritated skin and promote healing after a nasty mite infestation. Lastly, the herbal ingredient Niaoli works as an antiseptic, and helps to cleanse and heal the skin. It also works as an excellent tissue stimulant and can be given to pets to help the skin heal and re-build after the treatment mange/harvest mite infestation. Medical Tips

What do I need to know about oral cancer?

Unfortunately it is rare today to find someone who has not been directly or indirectly affected by the horrific disease known as cancer. It has been estimated that by 2030, four million people in the UK will be living with a diagnosis of cancer. To put it simply, cancer is a term used for diseases in which abnormal cells divide without control and are able to invade other tissues. It is not just one disease but many diseases. There are more than 100 different types of cancer.

How common is it?

In the UK in 2008, official figures from the National Statistics Cancer Registration Officelisted the incidence of Oral cancer as the 12th most common amongst men and 16th amongst woman. That means that about 6, 200 people are diagnosed every year with oral cancer in the Uk … and yet this is a form of cancer which many people still have yet to know much about. In addition since 1997 there has been a more than 50% increase in the number of new cases and worryingly this trend seems to be continuing. Oral and pharyngeal cancer is now the sixth most common malignancy reported worldwide.

How can I check I don’t have oral cancer?

Oral cancer starts in the cells of the mouth (oral cavity). The oral cavity is made up of many parts including the lips, tongue and floor of the mouth (under the tongue). What many people fail to realise is that it is therefore the dentist who is the medical professional best placed to do a screening for oral cancer. Many people forget that there is more in the mouth than just your teeth and gums. It is still the cultural norm for many not to bother attending a dentist unless they have a problem. In fact this is even stretched further for the older population who have no teeth and therefore feel that is a waste of time seeing the dentist if they have no teeth! While at first this may seem logical it is important to remember that a dentist is trained to also examine the rest of your mouth. It is in these soft tissues that oral cancer starts. In the UK between 2007 and 2009, an average 44% of oral cancer cases were diagnosed in people aged 65 and over… these same individuals who may not feel the need to be screened or feel they have any problem are indeed most at risk statistically. Like a lot of cancers, mouth cancer does not cause any significant pain or problems until it is advanced. Self screening can be very difficult as a patient cannot clearly see all aspects of their mouth themselves. In addition the early changes of oral cancer can be subtle and easily overlooked by a non professional. Some of the early signs include • A sore or ulcer in the mouth that does not heal within three weeks. • A lump or overgrowth of tissue anywhere in the mouth. • A white or red patch on the gums, tongue, or lining of the mouth. • Swelling of the jaw that causes dentures to fit poorly or become uncomfortable. Screening is a simple visual examination which should be done by your dentist at regular intervals of 6 months. It is painless and should be done in combination with history taking to assess risk factors such as smoking and alcohol consumption. Should there be anything suspicious your dentist may choose to monitor it (i.e recall again in 2 weeks to review); take a small sample for analysis or refer you on for other appropriate tests. Very few abnormalities detected may actually be anything to worry about but a visit to the dentist for a routine examination could potentially save your life.

SPORTS MASSAGE SPORTS MASSAGE SHOULD PLAy AN IMPORTANT PART IN THE LIFE OF ANy SPORTSMAN OR WOMAN WHETHER THEy ARE INjURED OR NOT

Massage can: Maintain the body generally in better condition|Prevent injuries and loss of mobility / flexibility|Cure and restore mobility to injured muscle tissue|Boost performance|Extend the overall life of your sporting career. Physical effects of massage: Pumping - The stroking movements in massage suck fluid through blood vessels and lymph vessels. By increasing the pressure in front of the stroke, a vacuum is created behind. This is especially important in tight or damaged muscle tissue as a tight muscle will squeeze blood out like a sponge, depriving the tissues of vital nutrients and energy to repair. Increased tissue permeability - Deep massage causes the pores in tissue membranes to open, enabling fluids and nutrients to pass through. This helps remove waste products such as lactic acid and encourage the muscles to take up oxygen and nutrients which help them recover quicker. Stretching - Massage can stretch tissues that could not be stretched in the usual methods. Bundles of muscle fibres are stretched lengthwise as well as sideways. Massage can also stretch the sheath or fascia that surrounds the muscle, so releasing any tension or pressure build up. Break down scar tissue - Scar tissue is the result of previous injuries or trauma and can effect muscle, tendons and ligaments. This can lead to inflexible tissues that are prone to injury and pain. Improve tissue elasticity - Hard training can make tissues hard and inelastic. This is one reason why hard training may not result in improvements. Massage helps reverse this by stretching the tissues. Opens micro-circulation - Massage does increase blood flow to tissues, but so does exercise. What massage also does is open or dilate the blood vessels and by stretching them this enables nutrients to pass through more easily.

MIRROR MIRROR ON THE WALL...

Who’s the drunkest of them all?

Flynn staggered home very late after another evening with his drinking buddy, Paddy. He took off his shoes to avoid waking his wife, Mary. He tiptoed as quietly as he could toward the stairs leading to their upstairs bedroom, but misjudged the bottom step. As he caught himself by grabbing the banister, his body swung around and he landed heavily on his rump. A whiskey bottle in each back pocket broke and made the landing especially painful. Managing not to yell, Flynn sprung up, pulled down his pants, and looked in the hall mirror to see that his butt cheeks were cut and bleeding. He managed to quietly find a full box of plasters and began putting a plaster as best he could on each place he saw blood. He then hid the now almost empty plaster box and shuffled and stumbled his way to bed. In the morning, Flynn woke up with searing pain in both his head and butt and to find Mary glaring at him from across the room. She said, “You were drunk again last night weren’ t you?” Flynn said, “Why do you say such a mean thing?” “Well,” Mary said, “it could be the open front door, it could be the broken glass at the bottom of the stairs, it could be the drops of blood trailing through the house, it could be your bloodshot eyes, but mostly... it’ s all those plasters stuck on the hall mirror.”

Lessons you learn after having children… •A ceiling fan can hit a cricket ball a long way. •The glass in windows (including double glazed windows) doesn’t stop a cricket ball hit by a ceiling fan. •When you hear the toilet flush along with the words “uh oh,” it's already too late. •Brake fluid mixed with Clorox makes smoke (and lots of it). •A six-year old can start a fire with a flint rock even though a 36 year old man says they can only do it in the movies. •Certain Lego blocks will pass through the digestive tract of a 4 year old. •Super glue is forever. •VCRs do not eject sandwiches, even though TV commercials show they do. •Plastic bags do not make good parachutes. •You probably don't want to know what that smell is. •Always look in the oven before you turn it on. Plastic toys do not like ovens. •The fire brigade in my town has a five minute response time. •The spin cycle on the washing machine does not make earthworms dizzy. •The spin cycle on the washing machine does however make cats dizzy. •Cats throw up twice their body weight when dizzy. •60% of men who read this will try mixing the Clorox and brake fluid.

RESTAURANTReview... Masala Indian Restaurant El Pilar I am so pleased to have found Masala, there are a number of “samey” Indian restaurants around where we live in Cancelada, but this place really is something special! We arrived at around 7.30 a few tables were already taken and we chose ours, the large seats were ever so comfortable! We shared an assorted platter to start, which was a really good selection of lamb, chicken and vegetable and potato starters – the meat was so tender and the flavour was excellent, we knew by now that this was going to be a good meal! After we had finished the starter, the waiter asked if we wanted our main courses then or would like a break between courses, we thought this was fantastic as we hate being rushed through dinner, so we waited about 15 minutes before asking for the next dishes – And was it worth the wait!!!! We had decided to share a Lamb Handi which was something new to us and was so flavoursome! We also had a Chicken Balti which was absolutely gorgeous. As well as our pilau rice, we had our normal choice of side dishes onion bhajis and peshwari naam bread both of which were just perfect. We felt we had over ordered but still managed to cram it all in! We cannot wait to go back to Masala, we are looking forward to eating inside, the contemporary / Indian style looks quite amazing!

It’sa shocker... An orphan named Simon has dreamed of appearing on 'Stars in Their Eyes' since he was a small boy, living with his aunt and uncle in Leeds. He writes to Matthew Kelly year after year, and finally gets an audition. The audition goes really well and he drives back up to Leeds to celebrate getting on the show, but as he is nearing home he has a terrible car accident, and loses his legs due to horrendous crush injuries. The surgeon who removes the mangled legs 'phones his relatives to break the awful news. When Simon's aunt related the tragedy to her husband, he collapses and dies of a heart attack. Hearing the terrible plight of the family, the surgeon suggests that, as they are blood relatives, he would like to try grafting the legs of the freshly deceased man onto his nephew’ s body. The aunt agrees, and the legs are packed in ice and rushed to the hospital, where they are successfully attached to Simon. There follow 9 months of painful rehabilitation, but eventually the brave young man is walking again. When Matthew Kelly hears the moving story, he asks the medical miracle to come and appear on the show. This he does, and as Kelly is relaying the heart-rending story, there isn't a dry eye in the house. Matthew Kelly introduces the young man and asks him who he will be tonight. Simon looks into the camera and says... "tonight Matthew, I'm going to be.………..Simon and Half Uncle"

D = Down the job centre It’s the time of year that most employees dread, but imagine if any of these were written on your assessment... • Since my last report, this employee has reached rock bottom and shows signs of starting to dig. • His/Her men would follow him anywhere, but only out of morbid curiosity. • I would not allow this man/woman to breed. • This associate is really not so much of a has-been, but more of a definitely won't be. • Works well when under constant supervision and cornered like a rat in a trap. • When he/she opens his/her mouth, it seems that this is only to change whichever foot was previously in there. • He/She would be out of his/her depth in the puddle in the car park. • This man/woman has delusions of adequacy. • He/She sets low personal standards and consistently fails to achieve them. • This employee should go far - the sooner he/she starts, the better. • This employee is depriving a village somewhere of an idiot. • Got into the gene pool while the lifeguard wasn't looking.

This will bring the focus on your feelings also on close personal relationships from the 1st to the 12th. The first week of the month sees Mars having a very positive effect on you increasing your confidence, energy levels and sexual attractiveness. You can expect to have your desires fulfilled this week, and may receive help in achieving your goals, especially those in a position of power. Another very important, and stronger, longer term influence is beginning this month. Jupiter will make a grand entrance this lasts from the start of August through until mid December 2012. You should feel a massive boost to self-confidence and great optimism about the future. The combination of Jupiter and the Full Moon means that you can expect very good relationships focused on growth and happiness. Pisces, August sees the start of a longer-term transit with Jupiter this lasts up until mid December 2012. This puts the focus of your growth over the next few months onto relationships, and also how you integrate the polarities in your life, your inner and outer worlds, career versus home life, personal needs versus responsibilities for family. In the shorter term, this month you get a nice transit from Venus from August 18th to 28th giving a relaxing and harmonious affect. You should be feeling more loving and affectionate, and you should attract the same from friends and partners. This is an ideal time to take it a bit easier and enjoy life why not go out and party and meet new people. It’s also a good time to pamper yourself as spending money on fashion, make up and luxuries should be money well spent. You deserve to look as beautiful as you feel this week or so. Aries, August continues to be favourable with Mercury’s helping hand. Mercury remains retrograde up until August the 8th this will not cause any of the usual communication problems, with the help of August 1st Full Moon. Cancer

Leo

Virgo

Libra

Scorpio

Sagittarius

Cancer you still have challenging factors from Mars to deal with this will last until August 8th. You may have been feeling anger or frustration towards the end of last month it’s important to find safe ways to express this energy so you don’t loose your temper. The best way to handle this trying time is to try and see things from the other person’s perspective and give a little ground. Your next transit is much more harmonious it comes from Venus between August 18th to 28th. This is an excellent time for giving and receiving love and affection, spending time with loved ones and socialising with friends. You will be feeling and looking beautiful and will be more attractive to others. This is time for enjoying life and you will want to be surrounded by beauty, friendly people, in a nice peaceful environment. Why not spend a little extra now on fashion or beauty treatment because it will be a good investment. Leo you are entering a very fortunate growth phase now with Jupiter with you from the beginning of August right through to mid December 2012. The focus will be on personal growth and social interaction Jupiter will be strong for the first half of this month because your birthday comes near the August 2nd Full Moon. The great combination of Mars and Jupiter makes this a success oriented month where you have high hopes and high energy to achieve results. This is also a very sexy combination giving you strong desires and making you very attractive to others. From August 20th to 27th, Mercury passes through your sign increasing the tempo of your life. Expect lots of interaction, communication and mental activity to keep you busy. This is an excellent time to think big, make business deals, sign contracts, and expand your social circle. Virgo you start a long-term transit now with Jupiter from August 1st to mid December 2012. You will start to feel an increased urge to “to expand your horizons, try new things, bigger and better things, to have more fun and make more money.” This is a generally beneficial transit just remember not to get carried away with too many projects at once, or look for the quick and easy way to make big money. Venus should increase your social interactions and bring more harmony and ease into your life from August 18th to 28th. Relationships with partners, friends and family will go through a period of more harmony. This, combined with less stress from everyday life makes this a great opportunity to take some time out to relax and enjoy yourself. You have especially good social skills now so making new friends is favored; people appreciate your friendly attitude and pleasantness. Libra you will feel a power surge from the August 1st Full Moon. This is a month for optimism; hope and good fortune as Jupiter has started winding its lucky way through your sign this will last right through till the end of the year. The sun and Jupiter make an appearance on August 2nd this will give you a taste of the lift in spirits you can expect ahead. Mars is still in your sign up until August 8th this is really emphasizes the positive energy you can expect from the full moon and Jupiter, a very strong and success oriented combination. It should have you feeling confident and attractive, ideal for having fun with friends or a partner, or starting a new relationship or any kind of venture as you have extra energy and initiative. Scorpio you might feel out of your comfort zone for the first half of this month because the August 2nd Full Moon. This may cause some inner tension your head is saying one thing and your heart another. Full Moons do put a focus on relationships but any dramas caused can be sorted out later this month thanks to Venus. Peace-loving Venus makes the fortunate transit from August 18th to 28th bringing harmony back to close relationships. It will also have you feeling more sociable so expect a lot more interaction. Mercury makes an appearance during the last half of the month, from August 20th to 27th. Meaning things get very busy mentally, more errands, paperwork, and communications. Normally this Mercury transit would result in scattered thinking and arguments, but the mutual understanding from Venus, means that you will be able to resolve any disputes and actually enjoy the extra stimulation. Sagittarius you can expect a much slower pace for August 2012 this should come as a welcome relief. There is only the one transit to deal with now and it’s an easy one from Mercury. Mercury will add clarity to your thinking and opens up communications in a positive way for you. You will be seeing things much clearer than before and be acting more rationally. Another affect of Mercury retrograde for the first week of August is that even though your plans and any negotiations may be going well, you may find it difficult to close deals and finalize your plans while other people remain indecisive. Mercury stations itself directly in your sign on August 8th giving you the green light to set your plans into motion, sign contracts and negotiate better deals. On August 18th Mercury and Uranus give you something to look forward to there may be some exciting news or an unexpected encounter.

Positively Pink’s 2012 Breast Screening Programme begins Positively Pink is a Mijas based charity and Its sole purpose is to raise the necessary funds to provide education, support and a FREE breast screening programme to British Women & Men who live on the Costa del Sol. The screening programme is a comprehensive screening process (Gold Standard) that includes a consultation, physical examination, health education, a mammogram or ultrasound or in some cases both and an English translation of the result(s). This is carried out in conjunction with Clinica Medicare, a Nurse led British health centre based in La Cala de Mijas and Dr David Deardon a UK trained Specialist and the head of The British Surgical Clinic. Medicare and its medical team provide their time, clinic space and expertise free of charge for the charity. Both the Mammograms and Ultrasounds are carried out by a local Radiology clinic. Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer in women. The lifetime risk of developing breast cancer is one in nine. Each year there are approximately 41,000 new diagnoses. The incidence of breast cancer for men is on the increase too with approximately 300 new cases diagnosed yearly in the UK. It has been shown that early detection of breast cancer can improve the outcome. Survival rates from breast cancer have improved partly in recent years due to early presentation and from individuals being breast aware. The risk of breast cancer increases with age. 80% of breast cancers occur in women over the age of 50 though Positively Pink believes that screening should be available to all women from 18 years of age. Lorraine Palmer the founder of Positively Pink believes that “early detection is your best protection. Last year Positively Pink screened 513 women living on the Costa del Sol and helped to save the life of one lady who received a positive diagnosis. This year’s campaign will begin on the 19th June and appointments will be available every Tuesday afternoon at Clinica Medicare in La Cala de Mijas. Due to the current economic climate and the impact on fundraising and donations, we are limited to only being able to offer 400 screenings during the 2012 campaign. F I N A N C I A L Economic & Currency News... England replace Spain as football’ underachievers... Spain opened a fresh debate on their place in world football history after achieving a spectacular 4-0 victory over Italy in the European Championship final. Certainly the best team in the world and maybe the best ever. However, just four years ago, Spain’s national side were considered great underachievers. That changed in 2008, when they won the European championship, their first trophy for 44 years. No other country has won two European titles in a row, let alone carry off a World Cup in between, as Spain did in 2010. No one else has scored four goals in a European final. The last team to put four past Italy in an important tournament were Brazil’s brilliant World Cup winners of 1970, in that year’s final. Journalists in Spain, believe the current success can last a decade or more. That is still a tall order: rebuilding and renewing winning teams is as hard at international as at club level, and the Spanish have not yet had to do it. Eight players who appeared in Kiev were also in the winning team of 2008. And defending the World Cup will be especially difficult, given that the hosts in 2014 will be Brazil, winners five times. But the Spanish are already halfway to realising that dream. If the Spanish have become Europe’s footballing superpower, which country has inherited its old mantle of underachievement? The English have won only one major tournament ever, the World Cup on home soil in 1966 (see chart), and have not even reached a semi-final since 1996. England has more people than Spain, a bigger economy and a league of similar quality: shouldn’t the country that gave birth to the game have a team as good as Spain’s? They win matches (and tournaments) about as often (and as infrequently) as you would expect given the country's size, wealth and experience in international football. At Euro 2012, in which England were deservedly knocked out by Italy in the quarter-finals, the expectations of both press and public were roughly in line with the team’s capabilities. A second candidate is Turkey, a team that did not even qualify for Euro 2012. Twice in the past decade, in 2002 and 2008, when the Turks reached the semi-finals of first the World Cup and then the European championship. A third option is Russia, whose only tournament victory came when the Soviet Union won the first European championship in 1960. The country has lots of people and plenty of rich people with money to spend on football (notably, on clubs in England) and some decent players. The last choice is the most surprising: Germany. The Germans, of course, are a strong footballing force. For them anything less than a semi-final is a catastrophe. The trouble is that they haven’t gone on to win a tournament for a long time: 16 years, or eight competitions. Meanwhile, France, Italy and Spain have all picked up World Cups, European titles or both.

Do things really change?

Do things really change or is it just another day/week with similar news and concerns surrounding the eurozone. With headlines such as “Global economy slows” “Spains bonds yields reach highs” “Greece implementing austerity measures” etc then that’s why I ask the question. The news we are all reading has not changed much, the crisis is still around us and credit rating agencies are still doing their best to destroy what little is left of eurozone countries credit rating and along the way knock confidence in the common currency. There is no doubt that times are difficult and eurozone leaders are constantly trying to find a solution however each day seems to bring along a set of obstacles to overcome but there have been some positives and its certainly worth reflecting upon these. Greece has a new government and are seeking to reach an agreement of its budget deficit, Spain has been authorised to receive 30bn euros to recapitalise their banks, the Spanish economic minister have recently stated there are no plans to close any Spanish Bank and Spains exports rose by 6.2%.. Its fortunate for both the USA and the UK that “headlines” are euro ones as it enables both these areas to mask the real issues closer to home. Did we expect to see how quickly the integrity of the UK banking system would fall? The recent scandal over the LIBOR rate fixing and of course another well know bank facing record fines due to money laundering breaches in the USA.With the economy slowing in the states we are interested to see how the budget deficit will be reduced and what additional action The Federal Reserve will take. With a strong £ exports from the UK also become a problem and maybe the Bank of England will look to reduce interest rates and add to the £50bn extra money printing in an attempt to slightly weaken the £, but with consumer demand falling across the eurozone manufacturing globally may see a slowdown. With all the uncertainty its a good time to make the most of your currency transfer as the Euro is at a three and a half year low against the pound so if you are transferring £’s talk to Moneycorp our preferred currency partner. The End of an Era a Tribute to

Sergio Pininfarina As a Tribute to one of the World's greatest ever Car designers, Sergio Pininfarina, who died last month, we thought we would have a look at some of his greatest creations. The Alfa Romeo Duetto Spider, was first shown in Turin in 1961 and went into production in 1965 it was based on the Alfa Giulia 105 and was immortalised by Dustin Hoffman in the film, The Graduate. The 1967 Pininfarina BMC-1800 BerlinaAerodinamica never made it into production – but doesn’t it look familiar – Both the Citroën CX and the Rover Sd1 took design inspiration from it. The Peugeot 504 Injection two-door coupé and two-door cabriolet were introduced at the Salon de Geneva in March 1969, Using the same engine as the Deloren DMC12 over 26000 coupes and 8000 cabriolets were produced between 1968 and 1973. The Rolls Royce Camargue was the first post war Rolls Royce not be designed in house. The company’s flagship model was built between 1975 and 1986 and was the most expensive production car in the world. 530 were produced as well as one special order Bentley version. Pininfarina had his hand in every Ferraris since 1966 – the biggest success was the Testarossa renamed the 512 TR and F512M after a few revisions, sold over 10,000 units between 1984 and 1996.

I’m in trouble with the wife. We were in bed naked and she asked what I would like to do most with her body. Apparently “Identify it” wasn’t the right answer. A little boy comes down to breakfast. Since they live on a farm, his mother asks if he had done his chores. “Not yet,” said the little boy. His mother tells him no breakfast until he does his chores. He's a little hacked off, so when he goes to feed the chickens, he kicks a chicken. He goes to feed the cows, and he kicks a cow. He goes to feed the pigs, and he kicks a pig. He goes back in for breakfast and his mother gives him a bowl of dry cereal. “How come I don't get any eggs and bacon? Why don't I have any milk in my cereal?” he asked. “Well,” his mother says, “I saw you kick a chicken, so you don't get any eggs for a week. I saw you kick the pig, so you don't get any bacon for a week either. I also saw you kick the cow, so for a week you aren't getting any milk.” Just then, his father comes down for breakfast and kicks the cat half way across the kitchen. The little boy looks up at his mother with a smile, and says, “Are you going to tell him, or should I?”

What music do pirates listen to ???? Arrrrrrrrrrr 'n' b A pretty young gypsy girl knocked on my door and asked if I had any old clothing. I said yes, but asked what I would get in return. She said I could play with her breasts. I thought, that’s fair, tit for tat.

A Boy and his dad are at a chemist. They walk past the condom display and the boy asks, "Dad what are those for?" The dad replies, "Son they're for safe sex." The little boy then asks why one box has only 3 condoms. The dad answers, "Because that is for high school boys. One for Friday night, one for Saturday night, and one for Sunday night." The boy then inquires why another box has 6 condoms. The dad explains that it is for college boys. 2 for Friday night, 2 for Saturday night, and 2 for Sunday night. The boy sees another box of condoms with 12 and asks his dad why. The dad says, "Son that is for married men. One for January, one for February.... "
