Welcome to the Halloween edition of the Costa Link, I love this time of year it’s still summer – well just about! The clocks go back on the 30th which is followed by a spooky finale – it’s great to see kids of all ages dressed up as wizards ghouls and skeletons! It’s also time to start thinking about the Christmas, are you here? – if so, check out the bar and restaurant guide for some great places to celebrate the festivities, and talking of celebration food, see the restaurant review on page 58 – it sounds amazing! A W o m a n’ s W o r l d Memo - From Women to Men.....! • The reason why our bras don’t always match our underwear is because WE actually
change our underwear. • The next time you and your friends joke about armed women in combat, take a poll to see which of you successfully aim at the toilet rim. • If we’re watching football with you–it’s not bonding–it’s their fit bottoms we are lookin at. • Whenever possible, please try to say whatever you have to say after the film we are watching at the time. • Lay off the beans several hours before bedtime. • Please don’t drive when you’re not driving. • If you were really looking for an honest answer, you wouldn’t ask in bed. • The next time you joke about female drivers, research the number of accidents caused by rubber-necking male’s checking out ladies in mini-skirts. • If only women gossip, how do males keep track of “who’s easy”? • Stop telling us most male strippers are gay: we don’t care. • When you’re not around, I belch loudly, too • We don’t mind if you look in the mirror to check your appearance in fact please do !!! • f you must grunt in reply, please develop a system to indicate a positive vs a negative grunt. • Don’t insist that we “get off the stupid phone” and then not talk to us. • Eye contact is best established above our shoulder-level. •Cleaning the house is not necessarily “women’s work”; besides, most of the “dirt” and clutter is yours anyway.

... B B b le appears He was barely a household name a month ago, but it e c r that Celebrity Big Brother champ Paddy Doherty is e t f A unstoppable since winning the show. Paddy is now vowing to
take on this year's X Factor winner to nab the Christmas Number One spot. Paddy reckons that he and his Gypsy Wedding co-stars have what it takes to do what Rage Against The Machine did in 2009 and stop the X Factor winner from getting the Christmas Number one. Even if he doesn’t manage to beat Simon Cowell's latest star, Paddy shouldn’t worry too much, because Brad Pitt wants to turn his rags-to-riches story into a film! Brad loves the gypsy morals and way of life, something he learned a lot about while making the film Snatch, and thinks it would make a great film. Maybe a film would have the potential to be a box office Number One, even if Paddy doesn’t quite make the Christmas Number One. Kerry Katona isn't wasting any time in moving on because the star, who is now officially divorced from ex husband Mark Croft, has announced that she's moving another man into her home. And it's none other than Celebrity Big Brother crush Lucien Lavsicount! Having admitted that they are “friends with benefits”, the pair, who have a far few years between them (twelve to be exact!), seem to have become very serious about each other. Talking about what she'll be most excited about when Lucien moves in, Kerry wrote in her OK! Magazine column: “I used to love waking up next to each other. I miss that a hell of a lot." Hmm, we wonder how long this one will last...

s it d e e Leandro Penna must be pleased at Katie Price’s latest ho n revelation.Well, w , e The model turned businesswoman has recently spoken out m Fa about her much publicised marriage to ex-husband Peter Andre, and the
news is quite baffling indeed. Katie claims that if marriage hadn’t become such a spectacle, and if they hadn’t have had TV cameras following them 24/7, then her relationship with the singer would’ve lasted. She told The Mirror, "Our marriage was a complete joke at times...It was all about the cameras and the deals and the showbiz. It would have lasted for years if we were given time to put the cameras down and actually enjoy being married." The couple were together for 3 years before they split and had 2 very cute children; Junior, 6, and Princess, 4. The pair’s relationship was always in the media, from their much reported on wedding day, to their reality show Katie and Peter. However Katie clearly believes that if they had spent time away from the camera the marriage might’ve lasted. This may have come as a shock to some, as Katie spends quite a bit of her time publicising her franchise; herself. Also, what must the hunky Leandro think of all of this?! Straight-talking Pricey went on to express her unhappiness with Pete’s decision to feature their children in his personal reality show, she says, “I'm not happy that the kids are still filmed or involved in photoshoots for Pete. I've kept my word. They're not involved in my professional life any more except Harvey, who helps me raise awareness of disability issues...The truth is I don't have a problem with Pete at all... we shouldn't be exposing the children to this life we have...And it hasn't changed a thing with me pulling them out of the spotlight. But until Pete does the same, those children have no private life”

Halloween
A couple was invited to a swanky masked Halloween Party. She got a terrible headache and told her husband to go to the party alone. He being a devoted husband, protested, but she argued and said she was going to take some aspirin and go to bed, and there was no need of his good time being spoiled by not going. So he took his costume and away he went. The wife, after sleeping soundly for one hour, awakened without pain and as it was still early, she decided to go the party In as much as her husband did not know what her costume was, she thought she would have some fun by watching her husband to see how he acted when she was not with him. She joined the party and soon spotted her husband cavorting around on the dance floor, dancing with every nice chick he could, and copping a little feel here and a little kiss there. His wife sidled up to him and being a rather seductive babe herself, he left his partner high and dry and devoted his time to the new stuff that had just arrived. She let him go as far as he wished; naturally, since he was her husband. Finally, he whispered a little proposition in her ear and she agreed, so off they went to one of the cars and had a little bang. Just before unmasking at midnight, she slipped away and went home and put the costume away and got into bed, wondering what kind of explanation he would make for his behavior. She was sitting up reading when he camein and asked what kind of a time he had. He said, "Oh, the same old thing. You know I never have a good time when you're not there." Then she asked, "Did you dance much?" He replied, I'll tell you, I never even danced one dance. When I got there, I met Pete, Bill Brown and some other guys, so we went into the den and played poker all evening. But you're not going to believe what happened to the guy I loaned my costume to......."

Getting Old..... A man saw an elderly couple sitting down to lunch at a fast food place. He noticed that they had ordered just one meal, and as he watched, the older gentleman carefully divided the hamburger in half, then counted out the fries until each had half of them. The old man then began to eat, and his wife sat watching, with her hands folded in her lap. The young man decided to ask if they would let him buy another meal for them so that they didn't have to split theirs. The old gentleman said, "Oh, no. We've been married 50 years, and everything has always been and will always be shared, 50/50." The young man then asked the wife if she was going to eat, to which she replied, "Not yet. It's his turn to use our the teeth. When you haven't got time to wait for the next policeman... George Phillips aged 94 of Meridian, Mississippi, was going up to bed, when his wife told him that he'd left the light on in the garden shed, which she could see from the bedroom window. George opened the back door to go turn off the light, but saw that there were people in the shed stealing things. He phoned the police, who asked, “Is someone in your house? He said, “No. Then they said, “All patrols are busy - you should lock your doors and an officer will be along when one is available. George said, “Okay. He hung up the phone and counted to 30. Then he phoned the police again. “Hello, I just called you a few seconds ago because there were people stealing things from my shed. Well, you don't have to worry about them now because I just shot them, and he hung up. Within five minutes, six police cars, a SWAT Team, a helicopter, two fire trucks, a paramedic, and an ambulance showed up at his house, and caught the burglars red-handed. One of the policemen said to George, “I thought you said that you'd shot them! George said, “I thought you said there was nobody available! The moral of this story.....Don't ever mess with old people. Two elderly women were eating breakfast in a restaurant one morning. Ethel noticed something funny about Mabel's ear and she said, "Mabel, did you know you've got a suppository in your left ear?" Mabel answered, "I have? A suppository?" She pulled it out & stared at it. Then she said, "Ethel, I'm glad you saw this thing. Now I think I know where my hearing aid is."

While attending a Marriage Counciling session..... Dealing with communication,
Tom and his wife Grace listened to the instructor, "It is essential that husbands and wives know the things that are important to each other." He addressed the man, "Can you describe your wife's favourite flower?" Tom leaned over, touched his wife's arm gently and whispered, "It's Self raising, isn't it? The rest of the story gets rather ugly, so I'll stop right here.

How to cook an egg..... A wife was making a breakfast of fried eggs for her husband. Suddenly, her husband burst into the kitchen. “Careful,” he said, “CAREFUL! Put in some more butter! Oh my GOD! You're cooking too many at once. TOO MANY! Turn them! TURN THEM NOW! We need more butter. Oh my GOD! WHERE are we going to get MORE BUTTER? They're going to STICK! Careful. CAREFUL! I said be CAREFUL! You NEVER listen to me when you're cooking! Never! Turn them! Hurry up! Are you CRAZY? Have you LOST your mind? Don't forget to salt them. You know you always forget to salt them. Use the salt. USE THE SALT! THE SALT!” The wife stared at him. “What in the world is wrong with you? You think I don't know how to fry a couple of eggs?” The husband calmly replied with a grin, “I just wanted to show you what it feels like when I'm driving.”

10 tips to keep your Pet Happy & Healthy Your Pet needs..... 1. Fresh air, sunshine & regular exercise. Dogs enjoy running around & sniffing out new smells, or just lying in the sun on a warm day. Cats are night time creatures & love being out at night when they can hunt & prowl. 2. A healthy diet. A natural preservative free is the best diet you can give your pet. Fresh water every day, no snacks between meals as this encourages them to hang around constantly which becomes irritating & makes them unable to settle. 3. Clear boundaries and adequate discipline. Pets need to know what they can and cannot do. Where are your boundaries in the home, what they can chew or scratch? 4. Their own bed, which should be warm & comfortable & made from natural fibres. Old blankets can be picked up cheaply from charity shops. Just like us pets need “time out, peace & quiet with rest. 5. Love & attention, companionship, touch. Most pets enjoy being touched by their owners. It is therapeutic for them, it also shows you love them & makes them content. 6. Regular grooming & bathing in a natural hypoallergenic shampoo. 7. Play, such as chasing balls, playing with toys, socialising with other animals. Animals enjoy interacting with their own kind & learning their own hierarchy. 8. A job to do. This refers to mainly dogs. Some breeds are worker & need to be occupied doing jobs like guarding, herding & racing. Bored animals can become disturbed & difficult. 9. Routine. Animals love routine that they can rely on. 10. Being treated as an animal, not as a human being!!!!! Rachel for POSH PETS SPAIN - www.poshpetsspain.com

Medical Tips
The wonderful summer is nearly over and I hope everybody has enjoyed the sun and the warm temperatures that we are lucky enough to experience here on the coast. But, living in the south of Spain, we have to ensure that our raised exposure to the sunlight does not cause serious damages to our skin. Principally almost everybody has the posibility to develop a darker pigmentation to the skin , we get tanned after being in the sun, some more than others, this is related to our skin type. The skin pigmentation is our natural sun protection.: The melanocytes, staying upon the basalmembran get stimulated by the UV-A and UV-B radiation, they produce more melanin ( which is the colour) and whith their "tentacles " they are able to divide the melanin to the surrounding epidermal cells. The melanin is placed right above the nucleus and it works like a parasol, trying to avoid damages of the DNA. So it is easy to understand , that a person, who isn`t able to build up a strong pigmentation has a lesser natural protection against the UV-radiation. Apart from that homogen pigmentation of our skin almost everybody has some pigmented lesions, called birthmarks, moles, nevus, lentigines and so on. I don`t want to write a textbook of pigmented moles because it is a really difficult thing to distinguish between all the different types of pigmented moles, but I want to give you some ideas or advices how to look at pigmented lesions and how to act in a responsable way. When we take a look at the benign pigmented moles ,we find that nearly all of them are round or oval, in a symmetric aspect, they have sharp and clear border , most of them showing only one colour and the diameter is not more than 6mm. Also we don´t find any change of the thickness or size. All that parameters are reflected in the ABCDE-rule and this is a very good method for the general public to be mole aware: A: asymmetry B: border C: color D: diameter E: elevation and/or enlargement Sometimes we can see moles with a different apperance: not symmetric, unsharp border, many colors or larger than 6 mm. These moles need to be examined. That means that the normal structure of the nevus has changed, the cells are showing irregular cell division. We can find that this can happen with a family history ("syndrom of dysplastic nevus") but also without a family history. The dysplastic nevus is suspicous to be a precursor of a melanoma, so we remove it by minor surgery and do a histopathological analisis. In the last decades evidence shows a worldwide increase of melanoma. In the year 2000 the risk factor was 1 in 75. The majority of the melanomas show an initial superficial spreading , and in the second stage they grow deeper into the tissue. We can see a very important trend: the vertical thickness of the melanoma is a reliable marker for the risk of sending metastasis to the rest of the body. It is clear that the very early diagnosis is the most important thing and indeed, if we remove melanomas with less than 1 mm thickness ("low risk melanomas") we find a lifelong healing rate up to 95% of all patients. The key to all of this is that you are aware of any changes and that you follow the simple ABCDE guidelines. Remember that in the initial stages skin cancer (melanomas) never have any symptoms like pain or itching, it just grows. Here are some examples of pigmented tumors, for you to use with the ABCDE guide: picture 1: Pigmented nodule: Showing several colors, loss of structure. Suspicous to be a nodular melanoma or a pigmented basalioma picture 2: Superficial increased pigmented lesion, showing different colors, diffuse and curved margin, secundar development of a nodular part. Suspicious to be a superficial spreading melanoma with a secundar nodular part. picture 3: pigmented mole in a deep brown, showing a loss of pigmentation and structure in the middle.Curved spreading margin, suspicious to be a superficial spreading melanoma picture 4 :Pigmented lesion with several colors, loss of structure and pigmentation, diffused margin. suspicous to be a initial melanoma developed on a dysplastic nevus 3 4 2 1

Getting Old Con’t..... [This letter was sent to a bank by an 86 year old woman. The bank manager thought it amusing enough to have it published in a local newspaper‌] Dear Sir: I am writing to thank you for bouncing my check with which I endeavored to pay my plumber last month. By my calculations, three nanoseconds must have elapsed between his presenting the check and the arrival in my account of the funds needed to honor it. I refer, of course, to the automatic monthly deposit of my entire pension, an arrangement which, I admit, has been in place for only eight years. You are to be commended for seizing that brief window of opportunity, and also for debiting my account 30₏ by way of penalty for the inconvenience caused to your bank. My thankfulness springs from the manner in which this incident has caused me to rethink my errant financial ways. I noticed that whereas I personally answer your telephone calls and letters, when I try to contact you, I am confronted by the impersonal, overcharging, pre-recorded, faceless entity which your bank has become. From now on, I, like you, choose only to deal with a flesh-and-blood person. My mortgage and loan repayments will therefore and hereafter no longer be automatic, but will arrive at your bank, by check, addressed personally and confidentially to an employee at your bank whom you must nominate. Be aware that it is an offense under the Postal Act for any other person to open such an envelope. Please find attached an Application Contact which I require your chosen employee to complete. I am sorry it runs to eight pages, but in order that I know as much about him or her as your bank knows about me, there is no alternative. Please note that all copies of his or her medical history must be countersigned by a Notary Public, and the mandatory details of his/her financial situation (income, debts, assets and liabilities) must be accompanied by documented proof. In due course, at my convenience, I will issue your employee a PIN number which he/she must quote in dealings with me. I regret that it cannot be shorter than 28 digits but, again, I have modeled it on the number of button presses required of me to access my account balance on your phone bank service. As they say, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Let me level the playing field even further. When you call me, press buttons as follows: IMMEDIATELY after dialing, press the star (*) button for English; #1. To make an appointment to see me; #2. To query a missing payment; #3. To transfer the call to my living room in case I am there; #4. To transfer the call to my bedroom in case I am sleeping; #5. To transfer the call to my bathroom in case I am showering; #6. To transfer the call to my mobile phone if I am not at home; #7. To leave a message on my computer, a password to access my computer is required. Password will be communicated to you at a later date to that Authorized Contact mentioned earlier; #8. To return to the main menu and to listen to options 1 through 7 again; #9. To make a general complaint or inquiry. The contact will then be put on hold, pending the attention of my automated answering service; #10. This is a second reminder to press * for English. While this may, on occasion, involve a lengthy wait, uplifting music will play for the duration of the call. Regrettably, but again following your example, I must also levy an establishment fee to cover the setting up of this new arrangement. May I wish you a happy, if ever so slightly less prosperous New Year? Your Humble Client 36

The Benefits Of Massage
Health&
What exactly are the benefits of receiving massage or bodywork treatments? Useful for all of the conditions listed below and more, massage can:
• Alleviate low-back pain and improve range of motion. • Assist with shorter, easier labor for expectant mothers and shorten maternity hospital stays. • Ease medication dependence. • Enhance immunity by stimulating lymph flow—the body’s natural defense system. Exercise and stretch weak, tight, or atrophied muscles. Help athletes of any level prepare for, and recover from, strenuous workouts. Improve the condition of the body’s largest organ—the skin. Increase joint flexibility. Lessen depression and anxiety. Promote tissue regeneration, reducing scar tissue and stretch marks. Pump oxygen and nutrients into tissues and vital organs, improving circulation. Reduce postsurgery adhesions and swelling. Reduce spasms and cramping. Relax and soften injured, tired, and overused muscles. Release endorphins—amino acids that work as the body’s natural painkiller. Relieve migraine pain.
Well Being
• • • • • • • • • • • •
There’s no denying the power of bodywork. Regardless of the adjectives we assign to it (pampering, rejuvenating, therapeutic) or the reasons we seek it out (a luxurious treat, stress relief, pain management), massage therapy can be a powerful ally in your healthcare regimen.

RESTAURANTReview..... Mughal Indian Restaurant, Diana Centre Like most people, I have my own favourite Curry House and I have been going to The Mughal in the Diana Centre for a couple of years. Since their change of ownership a month or so ago they are now offering something totally different! As well as the usual range of curries that we are all used to, they are offering Celebration food – an entirely new experience, for me. I and three other curry heads took our usual table outside and waited for our feast – it was a selection chosen entirely by the chef having asked us what we like and dislike to eat. We started with a green curry roast chicken – we all expected a roast chicken but were amazed when it arrived, it was served on a platter having been marinated and slow roasted for six hours before our arrival, the flavour was so intense and the chicken was top quality – we had never had anything like this before! We shared four main course dishes and again they had all been prepared individually for us – a roasted lamb korei, the meat was still on the bone and so, so tender, Green Curry Chicken, the sauce was made with advacado rather than chillies – what an incredible dish, a shimla bhuna made with peppers –again this had so much flavour and a Bengal Korma – absolutely nothing like a the normal korma and again a taste sensation. I would suggest that any curry fan try the celebration food, you will need to book it an advance and talk about your own tastes then leave it up to the chef who will prepare something for you to celebrate!

Most Haunted Places.....
EeeK!
Fancy yourself as a ghost hunter? Scared of those bumps in the night… Here are some of the most haunted places in the world, be afraid, very afraid… Borley Rectory, Essex, England: The haunting of the Borley Rectory during the 1920s and 1930s, is undoubtedly one of the most famous in Britain, as well as being one of the most controversial. The wealth of sightings and experiences by independent witnesses, suggests that although much of the phenomena can be explained in rational terms, a percentage remains which can still be seen as inexplicable at the present time. The Whaley House, California Author de Traci Regula relates her experiences with the house: “Over the years, while dining across the street at the Old Town Mexican Cafe, I became accustomed to noticing that the shutters of the second-story windows [of the Whaley House] would sometimes open while we ate dinner, long after the house was closed for the day. On a recent visit, I could feel the energy in several spots in the house, particularly in the courtroom, where I also smelled the faint scent of a cigar, supposedly Whaley’s calling-card. In the hallway, I smelled perfume, initially attributing that to the young woman acting as docent, but some later surreptitious sniffing in her direction as I talked to her about the house revealed her to be scent-free.” Raynham Hall, Norfolk, England: Raynham Hall is a country house in Norfolk. For 300 years it has been the seat of the Townshend family. The hall gave its name to the area, known as East Raynham, and is reported to be haunted, providing the scene for possibly the most famous ghost photo of all time, the famous Brown Lady descending the staircase. However, the ghost has not been reported since the photo was taken. Its most famous resident was Charles Townshend, 2nd Viscount Townshend (1674-1738), leader in the House of Lords. The Myrtles Plantation, Louisiana The Myrtles Plantation was built in 1796 by General David Bradford and called Laurel Grove. Touted as “one of America’s most haunted homes”, the plantation is supposedly home of at least 12 ghosts. It is often reported that 10 murders occurred in the house, but historical records only indicate the murder of William Winter. Possibly the most well known of the Myrtles supposed ghosts, Chloe (sometimes Cleo) was reportedly a slave owned by Clark and Sara Woodruff. According to one story, Clark Woodruff had pressured or forced Chloe into being his mistress. Chloe and Clark were caught by Sara Woodruff, and Chloe began to listen at keyholes, trying to learn what would happen to her. Eastern State Penitentiary, Philadelphia Designed by John Haviland and opened in 1829, Eastern State is considered to be the world’s first true penitentiary. Its revolutionary system of incarceration, dubbed the Pennsylvania System, originated and encouraged solitary confinement as a form of rehabilitation. On June 1st, 2007 Most Haunted Live went to the penitentiary. Part of the group went to Al Capones cell. Two people passed out while investigating the prison. Yvette Feilding stated that “this is the most evil place I have ever been.” They claimed to have had contact with spirits but there was no hard evidence that their claims were legitimate. The Tower of London, London: The Tower of London, more commonly known as the Tower of London is an historic monument in central London, England on the north bank of the River Thames. Perhaps the most well-known ghostly resident of the Tower is the spirit of Ann Boleyn, one of the wives of Henry VIII, who was also beheaded in the Tower in 1536. Her ghost has been spotted on many occasions, sometimes carrying her head, on Tower Green and in the Tower Chapel Royal. Continued on page 66 62

Waverly Hills Sanatorium, Kentucky: Waverly Hills Sanatorium, located in Louisville, Kentucky, opened in 1910 as a two-story hospital to accommodate 40 to 50 tuberculosis patients. It has been popularized on television as being one of the “most hauntedâ€? hospitals in the eastern United States, and was seen on ABC/FOX Family Channel’s Scariest Places On Earth as well as VH1′s Celebrity Paranormal Project. It was also seen on the Sci Fi Channel’s Ghost Hunters. Ghost investigators who have ventured into Waverly have reported a host of strange paranormal phenomena, including voices of unknown origin, isolated cold spots and unexplained shadows. Screams have been heard echoing in its now abandoned hallways, and fleeting apparitions have been encountered. The Queen Mary, California: RMS Queen Mary is an ocean liner that sailed the North Atlantic Ocean from 1936 to 1967 for Cunard Line. It was purchased by the city of Long Beach, California in 1967 and transformed into a hotel. The most haunted area of the ship is the engine room where a 17-year-old sailor was crushed to death trying to escape a fire. Knocking and banging on the pipes around the door has been heard and recorded by numerous people. In what is now the front desk area of the hotel, visitors have seen the ghost of a “lady in white.â€? Ghosts of children are said to haunt the ship’s pool. The White House, Washington DC: President Harrison is said to be heard rummaging around in the attic of the White House, looking for who knows what. President Andrew Jackson is thought to haunt his White House bedroom. And the ghost of First Lady Abigail Adams was seen floating through one of the White House hallways, as if carrying something. The most frequently sighted presidential ghost has been that of Abraham Lincoln. Eleanor Roosevelt once stated she believed she felt the presence of Lincoln watching her as she worked in the Lincoln bedroom. Also during the Roosevelt administration, a young clerk claimed to have actually seen the ghost of Lincoln sitting on a bed pulling off his boots.

A couple from Minneapolis decided to go to Florida for a long weekend to thaw out during one particularly icy cold winter. They both had jobs, and had difficulty coordinating their travel schedules. It was decided the husband would fly to Florida on a Thursday, and his wife would follow him the next day. Upon arriving as planned, the husband checked into the hotel. There he decided to open his laptop and send his wife an e-mail back in Minneapolis. However, he accidentally left off one letter in her address and sent the e-mail without noticing his error. In the mean time, In Houston, a widow had just returned from her husband's funeral. He was a minister of many years who had been ‘called home to glory’ following a heart attack. The widow checked her e-mail, expecting messages from family and friends. Upon reading the first message, she fainted and fell to the floor. The widow's son rushed into the room, found his mother on the floor and saw the computer screen which read:
A Message from beyond...
To: My loving Wife From: Your Departed Husband Subject: I've arrived! I've just arrived and have been checked in. I see that everything has been prepared for your arrival tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing you then. Hope your journey is as uneventful as mine was. P.S. Sure is hot down here.

Positively Pink is dedicated to education and early detection and the free screening programme ensures that all British women have access to breast screening regardless. Breast cancer is the most common form of cancer in women. It is also one of the most treatable if detected earlier enough. The lifetime risk of developing breast cancer is one in nine. 44,000 women were diagnosed in the UK alone last year.
Lorraine Palmer the founder of the charity believes that “early detection is your protection” This years campaign is sponsored by The Hospital Group,The British Surgical Clinic and medilink all local healthcare businesses who have an ethos of “Working together with our local community because your health really does matters” This year’s campaign has seen a Gold standard screening process that includes a physical examination and medical history followed by a mammogram or ultrasound or in some cases both. We started in mid July and to-date we have screened in excess of 200 women. We have over 90 more women booked and availability until the end of October. Lorraine works tirelessly to ensure that she raises adequate funding so she is able to help as many British women here on the Coast as she can. The main fund raising event is the “Pink Ball” held every October at the fabulous El Oceano Hotel. The Pink Ball will be on Thursday 6th October and promises to be a spectacular evening. For more information on this event call the El Oceano Hotel. FINANCIAL
Economic & Currency News... The revival of Spanish Wealth Tax At the time of writing, Zapereto's cabinet is due to approve a decree re-imposing a tax on the wealthy. The current government decided in 2008 to offer 100% tax break on the Spanish wealth tax without fully abolishing it. Since it still remains on the statute it can be easily revived by means of a decree. Socialist Party sources said the government is likely to approve a threshold for paying the tax that will only impact those in the higher bands. The deputy prime minister asked for the tax to be reintroduced in the current legislature so that funds from it can be available from next year. The Socialists estimates the tax could add 1.4 billion euros to the state's coffers, which would be mainly used for job creation. The original pre-2009 wealth tax in Spain (no longer in effect), went along the following lines : The tax was applicable to residents, and non-residents (if they own property in Spain). For residents it was based on their total worldwide assets (with a tax-free allowance), for non-residents it was based on their Spanish assets (with no allowance). There where a number of exclusions to the tax including business assets. If the tax is reintroduced, it is worthwhile seeking financial advice as early as possible, if you think it will effect you. A key financial planning tool for mitigating wealth tax liability are portfolio bonds, which are effectively life insurance investment wrappers. It is possible to agree with the insurance bond company not to make withdrawals from your investment bond for 5 years, during which time those assets would not be subject to wealth tax. There are a wide range of assets that can be held within an investment bond.

W ha t i s g oi ng on ??? It all seems to be going wrong for the euro at the moment, Greece have only enough money until October before they need another €8 billion (£6.9bn) Greece have introduced a new property tax (band-aid plaster) this is purely to make sure that Greece meets its budget targets for their next lump of Money. Its not looking too good for France either due to their exposure to Greek debt. Two French banks have had their credit ratings downgraded by Moodys. Agricole were downgraded from AA1 to AA2 and Societe Generale from AA2 to AA3. BNP Paribas could also be next in line for a downgrade. Italy has also had their credit rating downgraded. The ECB –European Central bank have bought/buying €143billon worth of bonds, from Greece, Portugal, Ireland and Italy. All this negative data coming out from Europe has not been good for its currency, this in turn has given the British pound a bit of a boost. Over the last couple of weeks we have seen the pound at a low of 1.1314 to a high of 1.1720 (it only stayed at this range for a few hours) This is why it is so important to be speaking to Moneycorp, as they can help you make the most of your Money by trading at the right time.

Morgan have just re-introduced their Three Wheeler. It’s been updated with 21st Century technology and has a V Twin fuel injected engine mated to a Mazda 5 speed (and reverse) gearbox. The car is a fusion of old and new.The Morgan Three wheeler still holds long distance speed records for one litre cars set in the 1930′s and the shape remains the same. Lancia Stratos Visually, the modern day Stratos is a dead-ringer for its 1970s sibling, the dimensions are almost identical. Modern updates include traditional headlights – rather than the flip-up units of the original – as well as a more aerodynamic front spoiler and a newly added rear diffuser. The original car used a Ferrari engine, and that’s true of the newcomer too. It shares the same V8 engine and sequential gearbox as the Ferrari 430 Scuderia. We can’t wait to see this hit the streets! Renault 5 Renault are developing a premium supermini inspired by the original R5, which was the first modern supermini with its three-door hatchback layout, and is still considered a styling tour de force. It was a European best-seller for most of the 1970s and lived until 1996. Positioned as a chic rival for the Citroën DS3, Mini and Fiat 500, the reborn R5 would complement the next Twingo as well as the fourth-generation Clio (the car that originally replaced the R5!) Volvo P1800 Mattias Vöcks who normally spends his days handassembling supercars for Koenigsegg has a created a modern version of the classic Volvo P1800 made famous in part as the car driven by Roger Moore in the British television series The Saint from the 1960s.Powering the beast is a 4.4-litre V8 from a Volvo XC90 SUV that's been force-fed by a turbocharger and routes its 600 bhp through a six-speed manual transmission to the rear wheels. It is to enter small-scale production at some unspecified date in the future. We can hardly wait. The BMW M1 Hommage, has a wide, aggressive stance with intentionally retro/modern twists on the key visual elements of the original M1 homologation special. BMW's stylists have incorporated similarities with the original, such as the louvered rear window; the badge placement in back; the line extending from the side glass; and even the wheel design, which is an exaggerated take on the ones you'll find on the original road car. it has a more imposing face. The car's four round headlights lurk behind thin slits in the front fascia, remaining essentially invisible until they're lit - similar to the hideaway nature of the classic M1's flip-up lamps. So far BMW have no plans to put it into production – but have you noticed they did not call the new 1 series M Coupe an M1………………..

Golf Tips And Tricks The Landing Zone When you play a long putt you know one of the most important things is the weight if the ball does not go in the hole it must finish within easy putting distance of the hole, when you play a short game shot the weight is just as important and if you land the ball in the wrong place when you play a chip or a pitch shot into the green it will be short or long, making the up and down that you need harder to achieve. This makes it just as important to practice where you land the ball as it is to get the great finish and in fact impossible to get the great finish unless the ball lands in the right position, here is an easy example:It is a flat green the golfer has decided to chip from the edge using his pitching wedge, with that club a chip will fly 50% and run 50% the golfer must pick his line and then his landing zone along it the right line and the right landing zone will result in a good chip. Next time you practice your short game, take the 5 iron and two tees from your bag, lay your 5 iron just in front of your landing zone and push the tees into the ground forming a gateway to the line you have picked for the chip to run on, about the width of your clubs grip at the length of your driver from the 5iron the idea is to land the ball over the 5 iron and roll it through the
gate towards the hole, you may get things wrong and need to reset the 5 iron and gateway but this will help you to develop a feel for the golf course that will lower your short game averages. By Mark Sibley

A married couple are driving down the N340 doing 80kph. The wife is behind the wheel. Her husband looks over at her and says, "Darling, I know we've been married for 15 years but now I want a divorce." The wife says nothing but slowly increases speed to 90kph. He then says, " I don't want you to try to talk me out of it because I've been having an affair with your best friend, and she's a better lover than You." Again the wife stays quiet and just speeds up as her anger increases. He says, "I want the house." Again the wife speeds up, and is now doing 100kph. He says, "I want the kids too, The wife just keeps driving faster and faster. Now she's up to 110 kph. He says, "I want the car, bank account, and all the credit cards too. The wife slowly starts to veer towards the centre barrier, as he says, "Is there anything you want?" The wife says, "No, I've got everything I need!" He asks, "What's that?" The wife replies just before they wall at 120kph, "'I'VE GOT THE AIRBAG!" Little Tony was staying with his grandmother for a few days.. He'd been playing outside with the other kids for a while when he came into the house and asked her, "Grandma, what's that called when 2 people sleep in the same room and one is on top of the other?" She was a little taken, but she decided to just tell him the truth. "It's called sexual intercourse, darling".Little Tony just said, "Oh, OK," and went back outside to play with the other kids. A few minutes later he came back in and said angrily, "Grandma, it isn't called sexual intercourse. 92
It's called "Bunk Beds". And Jimmy's mum wants to talk to you." Off to Vegas..... A man came home from work one day to find his wife on the front porch with her bags packed. “Just where the heck do you think you're going!”, said the man. “I'm going to Las Vegas', said the wife, 'I just found out I can get $400 a night for what I give you for free! “The man said, “Wait a minute!”, and then ran inside the house only to come back a few minutes later with his suitcases in hand. “Where the heck are you going?”, said the wife. The man said, “I want to see how you're gonna live on $800 a year!''.
Morris is at work one day when he notices that his co-worker, Joe, is wearing an earring. This man knows his co-worker to be a normally conservative fellow, and is curious about his sudden change in fashion sense. Morris yells out, “Hey Joe! I didn’t know you were into earrings.” Joe sheepishly replies, “Don’t make such a big deal out of it… it’s only an earring.” Morris continues to probe, “No really. How long have you been wearing one?” Joe answers, “Ever since my wife, Becky, found it in our bed.”

A look at what's in store for you during October.....
Capricorn
Aquarius
94
With the Full Moon in Aries, Capricorn you will experience a pull in directions - family life vs. career. After the Full Moon has passed you will notice how much more enjoyable family time has become. Friends and socializing will enter the picture later in the month with your social diary filling up nicely; take care to spend an equal amount of time at work and also with your family. From the 22nd onwards you will experience both stress and ease on the career front. Your mind is very busy with ideas this month and you have extra energy for challenging mental tasks. Increased visibility and accountability are likely in October, Aquarius. What you do and say has more impact than usual, so be on your best behavior. Some of you are traveling or taking on more physical activities. Professional matters capture most of your time, however, and the need to set your own pace is strong. If not, you could be feeling a lot of pressure. Don't take on more work than you can handle, as enthusiastic as you are feeling. News from a friend or about travel plans around the 22nd is good.
Pisces
Your energy levels run high this month, Pisces, and it's the kind of energy that is easily channeled into productive activity rather than as stress. Others are attracted to your vitality and enthusiasm. Money might be earned through publishing or promotional activities now, and support is available when you need it most. You could also be spending more money on travel or educational pursuits. Career matters are dynamic, particularly towards the end of October. Finance-related conversations and review are fruitful, especially around the 22nd when new information comes to light.
Aries
Relationships are headline news for you this month, Aries. You have really strong energy in your relationship zone at the moment; some complications are likely at this time take the rough with the smooth. You may be rethinking your needs or those of a partner and dealing with debts from the past. Take your time and don't push matters. Go over your finances carefully, get counseling if needed, and avoid disputes over money. Fortunately, your negotiation skills are at their best around the 19th-20th. Going it alone is not necessary now; maybe it’s time to take some advice.
Taurus
Your physical health improves this month and work matters become busier, Taurus. Relationships are tricky, however. Problems that have been brewing with a partner will start demanding your attention. While you should certainly discuss things, major decision-making is best put on hold. You or a partner need more time and shouldn't be pushed into a corner. New relationships started in October begin with gusto, but then quickly become complicated. Pour your energy into productive paths. Get started on a new health and fitness routine.
Gemini
Complications on the work front are very possible this month, Gemini. Projects may stall or could be in need of review. Try your best to work independently and to set your own pace on the job because teamwork can be challenging now. Overall, however, you are in a playful and demonstrative mood. Love relationships are not as straightforward as you'd like, but as long as you avoid heady discussions, you'll be fine. Others are finding you charming but could be hesitant just for now. A friend requires your support around the 22nd.

Cancer
Leo
Virgo
Libra
Scorpio
Sagittarius
The 7th brings new energy for a spot of DIY, Cancer, but be warned it's not the best month for major changes. Focus on fixing problems rather than redesigning. Career and family projects should come to fruition around the 22nd. More opportunities to enjoy recreation and creative pastimes should arise this month. You'll also attract at least two admirers, especially in the first week of the month. Old flames have a way of reappearing in October, although complications are likely. Review the past but also aim to put it behind you. Work is mostly happy and creative now. The month ahead will be a busy one, Leo, with much emphasis on communication, learning, and family. Making a fresh start with a neighbor or sibling this month. Tensions are possible around the home, however, especially if you are coming across as too bossy in your attempts to take charge. Channel your energy into constructive work around the house, particularly independent tasks. Financial backing is more likely to come now for home improvement endeavors. There are plenty of errands to run and much paper work to do for the whole month, lucky you! You are especially concerned with your finances this month, Virgo. It's an excellent period for reviewing expenses and making budgets. While you could feel a pinch, this only prompts you to take charge of your practical affairs. News of a higher-paying job or pay increase is quite possible in October. A partner's income will be of special interest around the 22nd. Your mind is very busy with ideas this month and you have extra energy for challenging mental tasks. However, fellow students or acquaintances may not be very helpful right now. You are coming out of your shell this month, you will be clearer than ever about wanting to make personal changes. You have the gift of gab in October, and your improved communications skills will serve you well. However, from the 7th forward, others are not always picking up the right signals, so be as clear as you can in your dealings. You have great energy for making money, but problems with purchases made, or changes of mind when it comes to spending, are very likely. Think twice about making big purchases, particularly of comfort or luxury items. While you are keeping others at a distance emotionally this month, Scorpio, you are charged up and ready to pursue your goals. Work is demanding, and you could be facing many deadlines. Stay on top of things. There is no easy road right now. A past love could reappear, or you could be facing some feelings of destiny or fate in your partnerships. Others have your interests in mind, however feelings can be complicated now. If you have money owed to you or have had an item borrowed it will be returned this month, maybe even with interest. Team work, group activities, and networking are big themes for you this month, Sagittarius. Be ready for a social whirl this, a lot is going on behind the scenes on an inner level. Matters from the past, particularly regarding love and relationships, are cropping up now for review. Love is complicated and sometimes confusing. It's best to sort out your feelings before coming to any concrete decisions or conclusions. The 22nd brings strong emotions to the surface and new information about a friend. The 28th brings renewed stamina and energy.
