A Woman’s World

MARKETING FOR US LADIES….!

• You see a gorgeous bloke at a party. You go up to him and say, "I'm amazing in bed." That's Direct Marketing. • You're out shopping for knickers with a bunch of girlfriends and see a gorgeous hunk buying some sexy lingerie. You persuade one of your mates to go up to him and point to you and whisper in his ear: "She's amazing in bed." That's Product Endorsement. • A gorgeous hunk saunters up to you at a Christmas party, notices the wedding ring on your left hand, and realises though you may be amazing in bed, he will never know for sure. He's been a victim of False Advertising. • You see a guy at a party that makes your knees shake and your knickers melt. You go up to him and get his mobile number. The next day you call him and say, "Hi, I'm amazing in bed." That's Telemarketing. • You're in a bar and see a gorgeous guy drinking on his own. You hitch up your skirt, fluff your hair and walk up to him and buy him a drink. You drop your handbag and when he stoops down to pick it up, you accidentally brush your lips against his and murmur: "By the way, I'm amazing in bed." That's Public Relations. • You're out walking and a drop-dead gorgeous hunk comes up to you and says straight out: "I hear you're just so amazing in bed." That's Brand Recognition.

DANNIELLA WESTBROOK FOR CELEBRITY BIG BROTHER... Christmas is coming and the goose is getting fat, which can mean only one thing. It's time to speculate about who's going into Celebrity Big Brother next year! The rumour mill reckons that former EastEnders starlet and the women with the most famous septum in Britain is being lined up for a slot on the show. Because she did so well in I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! right? LOL – she quit after nine days saying she missed her kids. Which is actually rather sweet. It's thought that Danni has signed a £250,000 deal to appear in January's series of Celebrity Big Brother. And could be a profile and cash boost for the much-loved star, who has been spotted working in an East End pie and mash shop. Danni in CBB? Bring it on.

IS SPENCER MATTHEWS GOING TO REHAB? His family are said to be “distraught”.The former Made in Chelsea star was forced to leave the jungle after just three days. It's thought that he rowed with show producers after they refused to give him the “steroid-based medication” he’d been taking to bulk up for a charity boxing match. Now it's thought that a stint in rehab could be the next step for the disgraced reality TV star. It's not clear whether Spencer tried to smuggle the drugs in with him, or had asked show bosses for them when he was in camp. But what is clear, is that leaving was not his choice. ‘SHE’S THE ONE’... TOWIE’s James Argent breaks his silence on proposal plans with Lydia Bright, it looks like it’s almost time for Arg to pop the question. So when’s it going to be, Arg? Asked if he would be proposing over the festive season, he said: ‘It’s not far off until Christmas, I’m not quite prepared as of yet.’ The TOWIE veteran added: ‘When the time’s right, it’s right.’ Well…we’re on tenterhooks, then! Take your bets, folks…

IT’S A CRACKER...

They're corny and seldom improve with the telling, but Christmas lunch wouldn't be complete without the chorus of groans that corny cracker jokes always provoke.

Here are some of the classics.... What does Santa suffer from if he gets stuck in a chimney? Claustrophobia! What do they sing at a snowman's birthday party? Freeze a jolly good fellow. Why does Santa have three gardens? So he can 'ho ho ho'! What does Miley Cyrus have at Christmas? Twerky! What do vampires sing on New Year's Eve? Auld Fang Syne. Why did Santa's helper see the doctor? Because he had a low "elf" esteem! What happened to the man who stole an Advent Calendar? He got 25 days! What do you get if you cross Santa with a duck? A Christmas Quacker!

16

What is the best Christmas present in the world? A broken drum, you just can't beat it! How did Scrooge win the football game? The ghost of Christmas passed! Who is Santa's favorite singer? Elf-is Presley! What do Santa's little helpers learn at school? The elf-abet! Did Rudolph go to school? No. He was Elf-taught! What do you get when you cross a snowman with a vampire? Frostbite! Who hides in the bakery at Christmas? A mince spy! What does Santa do with fat elves? He sends them to an Elf Farm! What did Adam say to his wife on the day before Christmas? It's Christmas, Eve! How many letters are in the Christmas alphabet? 25. There’s "no EL"! What's the most popular Christmas wine? 'I don't like Brussels sprouts!' We hope you have a cracking Christmas!

A GOLF TRIP IN... Deepest, Darkest Ireland On a golf tour in Ireland, Tiger Woods drives his Mercedes into a petrol station in a remote part of the Irish countryside. The pump attendant who knows absolutely nothing about golf, greets him in a typical Irish manner completely unaware of who the golfing pro was.

"Top of the mornin' toyer, sir" says the attendant. Tiger nods a quick, 'hello' and bends forward to pick up the nozzle. As he does so, two tees fall out of his shirt pocket onto the ground.

"What be those?" asks the attendant. "They're called tees," replies Tiger.

"Well, what on this God's earth are dey for?" inquires the Irishman. "They're for resting my balls on when I'm driving," says Tiger.

“Jaysus," says the Irishman, "Mercedes think of everything!"

Life from a different perspective… A boat docked in a tiny seaside village. A businessman tourist complimented the local fisherman on the quality of his fish and asked how long it took him to catch them. "Not very long," answered the fisherman. "But then, why didn't you stay out longer and catch more?" asked the businessman. The fisherman explained that his small catch was sufficient to meet his needs and those of his family. The businessman asked, "But what do you do with the rest of your time?" "I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, and take a siesta with my wife. In the evenings, I go into the village to see my friends, play the guitar, and sing a few songs... I have a full life." The businessman interrupted, "I have an MBA from Harvard, and I can help you! You should start by fishing longer every day. You can then sell the extra fish you catch. With the extra revenue, you can buy a bigger boat." "And after that?" asked the fisherman. Then the businessman replied… "With the extra money the larger boat will bring, you can buy a second one and a third one and so on until you have an entire fleet of trawlers. Instead of selling your fish to a middleman, you can then negotiate directly with the processing plants and maybe even open your own plant. You can then leave this little village and move to the city, Los Angeles, or even New York City! From there you can direct your huge new enterprise." "How long would that take?" asked the fisherman. “Twenty, perhaps twenty-five years," replied the businessman. "And after that?" “Afterwards? Well my Friend, That's when it gets really interesting," answered the businessman, laughing. "When your business gets really big, you can start selling stocks and make millions!" "Millions? Really? And after that?" said the fisherman."After that you'll be able to retire, live in a tiny village near the coast, sleep late, play with your children, catch a few fish, take a siesta with your wife and spend your evenings doing what you like and enjoying your friends."

There was a very, very tall coconut tree and there are 4 animals, a Lion, a Chimpanzee, a Giraffe, and a Squirrel, who pass by They decide to compete to see who is the fastest to get a banana off the tree

Who do you guess will win? Your answer will reflect your personality So think carefully..... Try and answer within 30 seconds.....

Got your answer? If your answer is: Lion = you're dull Chimpanzee = you're a moron Giraffe = you're a complete idiot Squirrel = you're just hopelessly stupid

A COCONUT TREE DOESN'T HAVE BANANAS Obviously you're stressed and overworked You should take some time off and relax!

Think you’ve been clever this year? Been out shopping already for that special someone in your life? Before you get too smug about the fantastic pressie you’ve bought your other half with your clubcard points check out Christmas present guide of what not to buy them...

Top worst gifts to buy a woman 1)

Never give a woman any kind of household appliance or something that is going to make ‘housework’ easier. For instance, a blender, a toaster, a new vacuum, or anything in a informercial. One allowed choice is a new washing machine with a turbo spin cycle. (Makes laundry day go by pretty fast when you can at least sit on it during spindry and end up smiling the rest of the day.)

2) Any bulk cleaning supplies, “Honey, I got

you that large box of Persil you’ve been after.” “This Mr Muscle oven cleaner should last you a while.” All I can say is, if you do, be prepared to run.

3) Do not buy gifts for yourself and pretend

they are for her. “Honey, I'm sure you'll get a lot of use out of the new drill I bought you.” By then she will have put it to good use by drilling a quarter inch hole into the side of your skull for even thinking she would accept such a lame gift.

32

4) Any lingerie made of flannel, such as a pair of feet pajamas, a Little Mermaid or Barney cartoon character nightie. It gives her the idea that you do not consider her the beautiful woman that she is. Take out that wallet and buy her something sexy from Ann Summers. 5) Do not give her a gift certificate to Weight Watchers. Most men would know better, especially the ones who have learned the correct response to “Do these trousers make me look fat?” If you are one of the poor souls who still doesn't get it and purchased a gift like this, be prepared for the silent treatment for at least a month. A better alternative would be hiring a Chippendale dancer as a personal trainer to get her motivated into getting fit. 6)

Last but not least, never buy a woman anti-wrinkle cream, or a book on “How not to be nasty Sunday through to Saturday.” These are not considered gifts, they are considered reasons for seriously injuring the person who bought it and just may stand up in court of law.

A VERY CLEVER COMPUTER…

A Man’s World

One day, Pete complained to his friend, "My elbow really hurts. I guess I should see a doctor." His friend said, "Don't do that. There's a computer at the pharmacy that can diagnose anything quicker and cheaper than a doctor. Simply put in a sample of your urine, and the computer will diagnose your problem and tell you what you can do about and it will only cost you €10.00." Pete figured he had nothing to lose, so he filled a jar with a urine sample and went to the drug store. Finding the computer, he poured in the sample and deposited the €10.00.

The computer started making some noise and various lights started flashing. After a brief pause, out popped a small slip of paper which read: 1. You have tennis elbow. 2. Soak your arm in warm water, avoid heavy labor. 3. It will be better in two weeks.......

38

That evening while thinking how amazing this new technology was and how it would change medical science forever, he began to wonder if this computer could be fooled. He decided to give it a try. He mixed together some tap water, a stool sample from his dog, and urine samples from himself his wife and his daughter. He went back to the pharmacy, located the computer, poured in the sample and deposited the €10.00. The machine again made the usual noises, flashed its alights, and printed out the following analysis: 1. Your tap water is too hard. 2. Get a water softener. 3. Your dog has ringworm. 4. Bathe him with anti-fungal shampoo. 5. Your daughter is using drugs. 6. Put her in a rehabilitation clinic. 7. Your wife is pregnant ....... twin girls. They aren't yours. Get a lawyer. 8. And if you don't stop playing with yourself, your elbow will never get better.

forty-five it’s years time for that divorce... A man in Scotland calls his son in London the day before Christmas Eve and says,“I hate to ruin your day but I have to tell you that your mother and I are divorcing; forty-five years of misery is enough.” 'Dad, what are you talking about?' the son screams.

“We can't stand the sight of each other any longer” the father says. “We're sick of each other and I'm sick of talking about this, so you call your sister in Leeds and tell her.” Franticly, the son calls his sister, who explodes on the phone. “Like hell they're getting divorced!” she shouts, “I'll take care of this!” She calls Scotland immediately, and screams at her father “You are NOT getting divorced. Don't do a single thing until I get there. I'm calling my brother back, and we'll both be there tomorrow. Until then, don't do a thing, DO YOU HEAR ME?” and hangs up. The old man hangs up his phone and turns to his wife. 'Sorted! They're coming for Christmas - and they're paying their own way.'

Hangover Cures...

It’s that time of year when we all get a little merry and maybe have a bit more Christmas cheer than is good for us! If you have overdone it at the Christmas do here a few hangover facts and cures…. Splitting headaches, sickness, dizziness, dehydration: anyone who's ever drunk too much knows the consequences of it.

BEFORE THE BIG NIGHT... Line your stomach: You’ve

probably heard people waffling on about how dangerous it is to go out on an empty stomach, well turns out there’s truth to that. If you eat a greasy meal before you go out the fat will help to line the walls of your stomach, which slows down the rate of alcohol absorption (note, it doesn’t stop it, just slows down) which means you’ll be less likely to wake up with a splitting headache. Drinking a full glass of milk will also have the same effect.

Drink LOADS of water:

Drinking alcohol blocks the creation of a chemical called vasopressin. This means that your kidneys will send water straight to

AFTER THE BIG NIGHT... Painkillers: Your first thought

will probably be to reach for some painkillers, and it’s not a bad shout as they will help with your headache – just make sure to pick the right ones. Aspirin will do the trick, but it can wreak havoc if you’ve got a sensitive stomach and leave you feeling sick and worse than you were before. Much safer to just stick to the ibuprofen, but only the recommended dose. Extra tip: If you can manage it get up at around 7am, drink loads of water, take an Ibuprofen and then go back to sleep. You’ll wake up healed (kind of)!

know, this one is getting a bit repetitive now. But seriously, you need to make up for all that water you lost last night. If you do manage to drag yourself out of bed the make sure to take a bottle with you on your travels.

Don’t start drinking again:

Don’t overdo it on the dance moves: Now we love a

AU REVOIR AVOCADO! The six new superfoods that promise to get rid of FAT – If

you are looking to kick start your healthily eating after Christmas here are some of the latest. Cinnamon raises metabolism whilst wormwood tea helps get rid of toxins. Drink a tablespoon of coconut vinegar to kick start your morning. Fat-busting foods are not new with avocados, chillies and green leafy vegetables all hailed as saviours in the fight against flab. But now there are six new super foods which promise to cut through fat faster, resulting in a leaner and more toned figure.

COCONUT VINEGAR

Coconut vinegar is very similar to other vinegars in its fermentation and used primarily in Southeast Asian cuisine. It is a great food, as it is very low in calories and carbohydrates, placing it very low on the glycemic index, which means it will not raise your blood sugar levels. It is also high in minerals, especially potassium, which helps you control your blood sugars and speeds up the metabolisaiton of sugar as a whole. Mix it with a tablespoon of warm water and use it as a detox to kick-start your morning, or alternatively, add a dash to your salad dressing!

CINNAMON

This spice can help raise the speed of your metabolism. Cinnamon also helps prevent an increased storage of fat, which aids you in losing weight. Cinnamon can also lower blood sugar levels, high levels of which are closely linked to weight gain and obesity. You can have cinnamon as a hot drink, by adding it to your tea, or alternatively, you can sprinkle it on your morning cereal and even add it to various pastries.

seaweed, it can be added as an accompaniment to your dinner or lunch, or as a delicious sushi seasoning, if you make sushi yourself.

TURMERIC MILK

Turmeric stimulates your gallbladder to produce bile acids. Bile acids helps you break down food and digest fat, which is why turmeric can improve your digestion system and help you control your weight and help prevent bloating and gas. The best way is to just drink it as it is, however, make sure it is to your taste, as it can be quite spicy!

POMEGRANATE JUICE

Pomegranates are rich in fibre, which makes you feel more full after you have eaten and will (hopefully) mean you consume fewer calories later. The anti-oxidants in pomegranates can also encourage healthy digestion and in turn help you control your body weight.

WORMWOOD TEA

Wormwood is a good way to detoxify your body. It speeds up your metabolism and digestion, making KELP your body rid itself of toxins much quicker. However, Kelp is a favourite with the Japanese, which they con- make sure that you drink it in moderation and for no sume in large quantities. 80 and still causing choas....

Jane and Arlene are outside their nursing home, having a drink and a smoke, when it starts to rain. Jane pulls out a condom, cuts off the end, puts it over her cigarette, and continues smoking.

Arlene: What in the hell is that?

Jane: A condom. This way my cigarette doesn't get wet.

Arlene: Where did you get it?

Jane: You can get them at any pharmacy.

The next day, Arlene hobbles herself into the local pharmacy and announces to the pharmacist that she wants a box of condoms. The pharmacist, obviously embarrassed, looks at her kind of strangely (she is, after all, over 80 years of age), but very delicately asks what size, texture, brand of condom she prefers. 'Doesn't matter Sonny, as long as it fits on a Camel.' The pharmacist fainted.

WHAT CAR WOULD SANTA DRIVE?

What if Santa couldn't find his sleigh? And OK, what if he also developed a sudden fear of flying? We all know that on Christmas Eve, Santa jumps into his sleigh with a humongous bag of presents and visits every house in the world with the aid of his magic and his eight-strong team of reindeer.

But what if Santa decided he wanted a car one year, or needs something else to drive after Christmas? He would obviously need something speedy so we’d be tempted to put him in something like the Ferrari, or a Bugatti Veyron - painted in red of course to match his suit, to ensure he gets to every house and keeps up his Christmas speed for the rest of the year. However he’d need loads of boot space to fit all those presents in, so perhaps a sports car wouldn’t really be suited. Lexus seem to think he’d be mightily impressed with one of there offerings and Land Rover have designed him a

new sleigh but we think he’d need something BIGGER. Although with his penchant for magic, he might prefer something a bit more futuristic; think electric cars or something out of Knight Rider. Whatever he chooses of course will be red, but on Christmas Eve nothing beats hearing sleigh bells and leaving carrots out for the reindeer. 50

• Put the gelatine in a bowl of cold water to soak. Measure the custard powder into a large bowl, add 3 tbsp of the milk and mix to a paste. Heat the remaining milk and 100ml of the double cream in a small pan. When steaming, pour over the custard paste and whisk until smooth. Pour back into the pan and heat, whisking continuously until thick. Remove from heat. Squeeze excess water from the gelatine leaves and whisk these into the custard. Rinse the bowl, pour the custard back in, then cover the surface with cling film. • Grease a 23cm springform tin and line with a double layer of cling film to cover the base and sides. Wrap the outside of the tin in foil – this will catch any jelly leaks. Blitz the biscuits to fine crumbs, add the butter, and blitz again. Tip the mixture into the base of the tin and push down firmly with a spoon. • Put the cream cheese, sugar and vanilla into a large bowl, and mix together using an electric hand

whisk until well combined. Give the custard a quick whisk to loosen it a little, then add to the cheesecake mixture and whisk to combine until smooth. Pour into the tin and level the surface. Tap the tin to knock out any air bubbles (it’s essential there are no gaps between the cheesecake and the cling film or the jelly will flood out in the next step). Chill for 4 hrs. • Make up half the jelly following pack instructions, then leave to cool for 30 mins. Pour over the cheesecake, top with frozen berries and put in the fridge for 1 hr. Make up the remaining jelly 30 mins before removing the cheesecake from the fridge. Pour over the second layer of jelly and leave to set for 1 hr more. • Put the remaining cream, icing sugar and Sherry (if using) in a bowl and whisk until softly whipped. Transfer to a piping bag. Remove the cheesecake from its tin, peel away the cling film. Place on a plate. Best served on the day, but will keep in the fridge for 3 days.

What does your name say about how generous you are? It’s that time of year when you can’t wait to see what’s under the tree, lovely parcels in abundance??? Apparently not if your friend/spouse or relation is named Adam or Patricia... A study (conducted in the UK) of 100 names found out who were the meanest gift givers at Christmas. People called Adam and Patricia share a surname... and it’s Scrooge! Those called Paul and David topped the list for generosity when it came to men. Their big-hearted habits are echoed by the regular charity donations of megastars Paul McCartney and David Beckham. Next most generous male name is Mark. At the bottom of the generosity table were Adam, Lee and Ben. The most generous women were called Rebecca, Karen and Julie. Women named Patricia, Diane and Janet are most likely to be stingy over the festive season. The website GettingPersonal.co.uk used data from more than 250,000 gifts givers to compile their list. The league table is based on the number of gifts purchased and total amount spent. John Smith, the website’s co-founder, said: “We thought it would be interesting to see whether there was any link between peoples’ names and their gift giving. “The generosity list is just a bit of fun. Obviously there are lots of generous Adams and Patricias in the UK!”

FINANCIAL NEWS The Euro & World Round Up

Euro zone business growth at four-year high

Manufacturing and services output in the euro zone rose above expectations last month, according to flash figures from Markit, despite the series of terror attacks in Paris in early November 2015.

The composite purchasing manager's index (PMI) came in at 54.4, up from 53.9 in October and above expectations for a reading of 53.9 from analysts polled by Reuters. The 50-point mark separates expansion from contraction and the index this month indicated the fastest rate of expansion of output since May 2011.

Despite a slow economic recovery in most of the euro zone over recent years, unemployment remains a problem and is stubbornly high in several countries. While Germany has the lowest rate of unemployment, at 4.5 percent in September, according to Eurostat, joblessness in Greece and Spain remains high, at 25 percent in Greece (in July) and 21.6 percent in Spain.

56

For young people aged 16-25, the statistics are even worse. The IPPR said that policymakers needed to respond "by minimizing the long-term erosion of skills as a result of recession, and investing to reshape and re-skill the labor force for the jobs of the future." Young people, it emphasized, needed to be supported in their transitions from education to work with better careers advice, more integrated work experience opportunities and greater employer involvement in the education system. The EU is not complacent about the need to boost jobs but it is easier said than done in a region with diverse economies, labor forces and output. In 2014, the EU launched a 315 billion euro investment offensive designed to boost jobs and growth in the region but it will take time for that project to be implemented and take effect.

A Christmas Gift A guy's wife was nagging him hard for a four-wheeler but still he bought her a beautiful extravagant diamond ring for Christmas. The husband's friend was amazed at his decision and asked him in secret, "Why couldn't you buy a car instead of the diamond ring?" The husband smiled and answered, "Fake cars are not easy to find."

Tampax are replacing the string on

tampons with a piece of tinsel... but just for the Christmas period only There was once a great czar in Russia named Rudolph the Red. He stood looking out the windows of is palace one day while his wife, the Czarina Katerina, sat nearby knitting. He turned to her and said, "Look my dear, it has begun to rain!" Without even looking up from her knitting she replied, "It's too cold to rain. It must be sleeting." The Czar shook his head and said, "I am the Czar of all the Russias, and Rudolph the Red knows rain, dear!" Why did no one bid for Rudolph and Blitzen on eBay? Because they were two deer! It was just before Christmas and the magistrate was in a happy mood. He asked the prisoner who was in the dock, 'What are you charged with?' The prisoner replied, 'Doing my Christmas shopping too early.' 'That's no crime', said the magistrate. 'Just how early were you doing this shopping?' 'Before the shop opened', answered the prisoner. 68

At a monastery high in the mountains, the monks have a rigid vow of silence. Only at Christmas, and only by one monk, and only with one sentence, is the vow allowed to be broken. One Christmas, Brother Thomas is allowed to speak and he says, "I like the mashed potatoes we have with the Christmas turkey!" and he sits down. Silence ensues for 365 days. The next Christmas, Brother Michael gets his turn, and he says "I think the mashed potatoes are lumpy and I hate them!" Once again, silence for 366 days (it's leap year). The following Christmas, Brother Paul rises and says, "I am fed up with this constant bickering!" What's green, covered in tinsel and goes ribbet ribbet? Mistle-toad! Why is it getting harder to buy Advent calendars? Because their days are numbered!
