A Woman’s World
Funny things we don’t like to do in front of the other half!!! Not all girls are made of sugar and spice, and all things nice. Everything must be perfect at all times. You don’t divulge the good, the bad, and the ugly to your other half, here are some of the things we get up to behind closed doors...
#1: Shaving, waxing or Immacing: Quick it’s a tache emergency… The older we get the more funny hairs keep appearing from nowhere! Get the Immac out!
#2: Chipping OFF THAT nail polish: The moment you spot the first chip come off, it's just downhill from there. PICK, PICK, PICK!
#3: Being a snoop: Sometimes the information doesn't come as easily as one would expect. Better put the detective glasses on or get those curtains twitching “her at no. 5 has a new personal trainer you know...etc.!”
#4: Using social media to just look: If you have a Facebook, Instagram or Twitter
account it's because you are making your life public. So looking up ex’s, best friends etc. it’s all easy pickings now!
#5: Trying to fit into old jeans. Bodies change shape. Sometimes it's too hard to accept the fact you no longer fit into your size 8 jeans (but they are still there in the back of your wardrobe)!
#6: HAVE A GOOD CRY: Just because… Movies, cute babies, hormones, songs the list goes on! But you always feel a lot better after a good cry!
#7: Eating Straight out of a jar. It's gross when guys do it but it is totally acceptable for a woman to eat out of a jar (spoon meet Mr Nutella, NICE)!
#8: Get on “YOU TUBE” and watch pimple popping, blackhead busting videos.
#9: Dancing in front of the mirror. We all think we are just as good as Beyonce or Jennifer Lopez and our mirror is proof of 1000’s of hours spent perfecting those dance moves."

VICTORIA & HARPER BECKHAM SHOPPING TRIP: Paris is a dream shopping destination for many of us but if Victoria Beckham is your Mum then yes please... With daughter and budding style queen Harper in tow they were hitting Paris’s many designer stores. And shopping for designer clothes is top of the list of activities for the trip as well as picking up gifts for David, 47, Brooklyn, 23, Romeo, 20, and 17-year-old Cruz the bill could hit six figures. With Brooklyn and his wife Nicola still feuding with the Beckhams Victoria has a new awareness of how fragile life and happiness are.
MADE IN CHELSEA’S MILES NAZAIRE & RUBY ADLER: Are they or aren't they hooking up? Since she and Reza split, Ruby has gone on a few dates with new boy Charlie Wicks. Miles, on the other hand, has of course dated half the female population of London and Australia. They are constantly sharing cute pics of each other on social media with declarations of appreciation and love for the other. Very suspicious actions for two people who are not in a romantic relationship. Miles is saying goodbye to MIC so keep an eye on Insta if you want to find out more.
FERNE MCCANN IS WORRIED ABOUT HER FUTURE: She’s finally found happiness with Lorri Haines. But the drama surrounding her will ruin her dream wedding. Ferne claims she has been the victim of an alleged “smear campaign” for a few months now. Ferne’s career has also been affected, as it is thought that her hit ITVBe show is on pause at the moment, only time will tell...

Only in Vegas, Baby!
I am off to Las Vegas soon to get married, hoping to keep the cost down a bit a couple of days ago I asked my wife to be...
“Do Las Vegas churches accept gambling chips?”
Looking into this a bit more before we left...
This may come as a surprise to those of us not living in Las Vegas, but there are more Catholic churches than casinos.
Not surprisingly, some worshipers at Sunday services will give casino chips rather than cash when the basket is passed.
Since they get chips from many different casinos, the churches have devised a method to collect and count all of the offerings.
The churches send all their collected chips to a nearby Franciscan monastery for sorting and then the chips are taken to the casinos of origin and cashed in.
This is done by the chip monks.

A HEARTY VEGGIE/ VEGAN DISH FOR JANUARY
Are you going veggie or vegan as one of your New Years Resolutions? And need some thing a bit more filling than a salad...
Then try this alternative to nut roast a roasted cauliflower stuffed with kale and chestnuts!
Serves: 6
Preparation: Takes 25 Minutes Cooking time: 1 Hours 5 Mins
ROASTED STUFFED CAULIFLOWER
INGREDIENTS
• 1 Large or 2 small cauliflowers (about 850g)
• 5 tbsp Olive oil
• 4 tbsp Breadcrumbs
FOR THE STUFFING
• 250g Kale, chopped
• 1 tbsp Milled linseed (Available at health food stores)
• 1 Onion, chopped
• 2 Garlic cloves, chopped
• ½ Small pack sage, leaves chopped
• ½ Small pack rosemary, leaves chopped
• 150g Cooked chestnuts, finely chopped PLUS 30g For the topping
• 2 Lemons, zested
• Good grating nutmeg
METHOD
STEP 1: Trim and discard the cauliflower leaves. Turn the cauliflower upside-down on a chopping board and use your knife to carefully cut out the stalk and core, leaving a cavity the florets should still be holding together. STEP 2: Bring a large pan of salted water to the boil. Submerge the cauliflower and cook for 7 mins, then remove with two slotted spoons and set aside to steam dry. Add the kale to the pan and cook for a min or so until wilted. Drain, then run under cold water to cool. Squeeze out the excess liquid and roughly chop. STEP 3: To make a linseed ‘egg’ (this will bind the stuffing together), mix the ground linseed with 3 tbsp water and set aside for 5-10 mins until gluey. Meanwhile, heat 2 tbsp oil in a frying pan, add the onion and a pinch of salt, and cook until softened, then stir in the remaining stuffing ingredients, including the kale, and cook for a min or so more. Remove from the heat and season, then put in a blender with 150ml water and the linseed egg and blitz to a thick purée. Transfer to a piping bag. STEP 4: Pipe the stuffing mixture into every nook and cranny of the cauliflower, getting in as much of the purée as you can. Transfer to a baking tray lined with parchment. Can be made up to this point in the morning and kept in the fridge. STEP 5: Heat oven to 200C/180C fan/gas 6. Mix the remaining chestnuts with the breadcrumbs and some seasoning. Spoon the remaining oil all over the cauliflower, then pat on the breadcrumb chestnut mix. Roast for 45 mins until golden brown and tender (place under a hot grill for the last part of cooking time if it needs to crisp-up). Serve with any crisp bits that have fallen onto the baking tray.

15 Strange Phrases from around the world
One of the most enjoyable aspects of learning a new language is picking up the idioms, the funny little sayings, often steeped in local history and culture, that explain the meaning of life and how to live it. (Well, in that particularly country anyway). Here are fourteen explains of peculiar idioms from around the world that on closer inspection are really quite wise.
Pulling an old cow out of the ditch... Bring up an old argument in Holland. Presumably, the argument, like an old cow, should be just left where it was. There is no cow on the ice... Therefore there is no reason to panic, say the Swedes. Pretend to be an Englishman... That is, pretend that you are innocent and have no idea what is going on. The Serbs, it seems, have trust issues with the English.
"Bonjouir, Au revoir"
Straighten the horns and kill the bull... Stuffing something up completely by insisting on correcting a minor flaw. The Japanese are not as pernickety as you thought.
"Hallå... Adjö..."
Not my circus, not my monkeys... Hence, it is not my problem, say the Poles.
"Hola... Hasta luego"
God gives nuts to the man with no teeth... An old Arabic saying that comments on the inherent irony of life. Or the poor state of dental hygiene on some parts of the peninsula.

15 Strange Phrases from around the world
Continued from page 16 here are fourteen explains of peculiar idioms from around the world that on closer inspection are really quite wise.
I'm not hanging noodles on your ears... Russian for 'I'm telling you the truth.' Personally, I'd rather they hang the noodles.
Going where the Czar goes on foot... Going to the toilet in Russia. Apparently, it was the only place the Czar wasn't carried to.
A dog bitten by a snake is afraid of sausages... A Brazilian proverb to explain that once you’ve been hurt you become more careful APPARENTLY!
A camel cannot see its own hump... An old Arab saying that is the equivalent of a pot calling a kettle black.
“Guten Tag!” “Guten Abend”
Feeding the donkey sponge cake... Giving special treatment to someone who doesn't need it, according to the Portuguese.
“доброе утро” “Добрый вечер”
Live like a maggot in bacon... With their unapologetic love for meat, is it any wonder that the Germans regard living like a maggot in bacon as an enviable state of being?
"Hello... Goodbye"
To set the dogs on someone... is to flirt with someone in Latin America. Sounds terrifying. Give someone a pumpkin... In Spain, that's how you stand someone up.

IT’s A FUNNY OLD WORLD!
SPEECH & LAUGHTER THERAPY...
A very pretty young speech therapist was getting absolutely nowhere with her Stammerer's Action Group. She had tried every technique in the book, but still they stammered and stuttered. Finally, totally exasperated, she said; "If any of you can tell me where you were born, without stuttering, I will have wild and passionate sex with you until your muscles ache and your eyes water." The Welshman immediately piped up; "C-c-c-c-c-c-c-ardiff", he said. "That's no use, Trevor" said the speech therapist, "Who's next?" The Scotsman raised his hand and blurted out; "G-g-g-g-g-g-gl-lasgow". "That's no better Hamish". The Irishman took a deep breath, counted to 5 and eventually blurted out; "London". Brilliant, Paddy! said the speech therapist and immediately set about living up to her promise. After 15 minutes of exceptionally steamy sex, the couple paused for breath and Paddy said; ……. ……. ……"d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-erry".
• I was horrified when my wife told me that my six-year-old son wasn't actually mine. Apparently I need to pay more attention when I pick him up from school.
• I was kidnapped by mime artist once. They did unspeakable things to me.
• A friend of mine went bald years ago, but still carries around an old comb. He just can't part with it.
• I'm thinking of a career where I estimate crowd sizes at different outdoor events. I wonder how many people are in that field.

New Year, New Home, New You New Year, New Home, New You
New Year is always a popular time to focus on health and wellbeing, after the gastronomic excesses of the festive season. And where better to enjoy getting fit and healthy than the Costa del Sol? With that in mind, we caught up with Marc Pritchard of Taylor Wimpey España to grill him on the benefits of spending time in the sunshine here.
What health & wellbeing advantages does the Costa del Sol deliver?
The 300+ days of sunshine and warm temperatures mean that you can exercise outdoors here all year round, whether you favour low-impact beach walks, strenuous sea swims or any one of a number of land- or water-based sports. Tennis and padel are particularly popular, while those who prefer to keep fit on the water can choose between kayaking, windsurfing, paddleboarding, snorkelling, scuba diving, surfing, parasailing and a whole host of other water sports. The Costa del Sol is also known far and wide for its outstanding array of golf courses, so if you enjoy keeping fit on the fairways then this is the ideal location. With so many opportunities to nurture your physical health, there’s a natural boost to mental wellbeing that comes from spending time here too. The abundant sunshine certainly helps with supporting positive mental health too. There are also some superb health spas for when you need a spot of pampering.
What about the Spanish diet?
Spain’s gastronomy is just fabulous. Traditional foods in the Costa del Sol include fresh seafood, cured ham and a wide range of locally grown produce, along with some excellent local wines, breads and olive oils.
What’s new on the property front?
At La Cala Golf Resort, we have a brand new development called Solana Village. It is home to a mix of apartments and penthouses with large terraces and glass balcony enclosures. The homes which face east are priced from €295,000 plus VAT and will deliver views of Solana Village’s communal gardens and pools, including the largest pool within La Cala Golf, along with the golf course beyond. The homes that face south, meanwhile, will deliver front-line golf views. Prices for those start from €370,000 plus VAT.

GOLDFINCH
Writer-director James Gunn’s follows his giddily irreverent 2021 effort The Suicide Squad with the latest Guardians, which is sure to have a winning Chris Pratt, an awesome mix...see what we did there? of other actors, and, we’re just guessing, plenty of comedic hijinks. The Oscar-winning animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was a big hit with critics and audiences, and Across the Spider-Verse was one of the most anticipated of 2022… until it got moved to 2023. Shameik Moore will voice Miles Morales again, with Hailee Steinfeld’s Gwen Stacy and Oscar Isaac’s Miguel O’Hara joining him. We also know that Issa Rae is set to voice Jessica Drew (aka Spider-Woman), and it’s likely that Jake Johnson’s Peter Parker will be back as well.
In case you hadn’t heard, multi-verses are going to be all the rage in 2022, and this movie is looking to be DC’s contribution to the trend. Like a lot of the films on this list, we don’t yet know anything about the story, but the casting of Michael Keaton as Bruce Wayne is either a super meta stunt or a big hint as to what we’ll see. There are rumors that the plot will follow the “Flashpoint” storyline from the comics, in which case, yes, expect some crossover shenanigans.

We hope you enjoyed the fes琀ve season and welcome you to 2023. We’re con琀nuing our ar琀cles providing informa琀on for Brits living in the Costa del sol or those planning to do so. We kick off this year with a recap of last year and what’s new for 2023.
Brits Moving to Spain - 2022
If our experience was anything to go by, there was a marked increase in people moving from the UK to the Costa del Sol and Spain last year compared to the year before.
By far the majority were re琀rees applying for the Non-Lucra琀ve Visa, which offers residency to those who have the financial means to support themselves without working. The ‘Golden Visa’ was the second most popular residency op琀on for Brits last year.
Moving to and Living in the Costa del Sol in 2023 – What’s New?
The Digital Nomad Visa is a new residency visa that is available this year for remote or online workers. It allows employed and self-employed individuals to live in Spain and work remotely, either for a company outside of Spain, or for themselves as freelancers.
This new visa is already proving very popular and is sure to take over from the ‘Golden Visa’ as the second most chosen route to residency for Brits moving to the Costa del Sol this year.
Find out more about the Digital Nomad Visa – www.lifestyleservices.es/digital-nomad-visa
This year Brits are once again able to exchange their Driving Licence for a Spanish one, following the final signing off, of the formali琀es on both sides. This has been long awaited by the many hundreds of UK licence holders who didn’t exchange their licences before Brexit, and all those who have moved to Spain since.
This year the Costa del Sol becomes more a琀rac琀ve to the wealthy this year with the removal of Wealth Tax in Andalucia. Those with wealth exceeding €1m, no longer need to worry about being taxed simply for having wealth.
A new na琀onal Wealth Tax star琀ng on wealth above €3m is expected to come into place this year. Even so, this will s琀ll mean the Costa del Sol will be the best choice for many who want to live in Spain, but don’t want to pay Wealth Tax for the privilege!

Our website also has lots of other ar琀cles providing useful informa琀on about moving to and living in Spain.

Well Being 15 FOOD TRENDS IN 2023
&
8) ONLY THE FINEST FOR FIDO
Pets are part of the family, and pet owners are much more focused on their pet's wellness and palate. Expect to see products like bone broth and biscuits that are tasty and made with your furry friend in mind. In the future brands will fine-tune their pet food recipes to make them even more delicious.
9) CLIMATE-CONSCIOUS
Speaking of climate consciousness, a growing number of food and beverage brands will work to limit their impact on the environment. Consumers can expect to see more visibility about a brand's sustainability efforts on packaging labels. Whether it's highlighting certifications or revealing their production process, brands will be proudly displaying their efforts to minimise environmental impact.
10) TINNED FISH REVOLUTION
Foods like sardines, herring, tuna and mackerel are a budget-friendly way to get plenty of Omega 3s without having to fork out for expensive fish like salmon and barramundi. The hashtag 'Tin fish date night' has been trending on TikTok in recent months, with home chefs using tinned sardines, oysters, or mussels as a hero ingredient in their meals.
11) MEDICINAL MUSHROOMS
Another big food trend set to hit the mainstreamthis year is 'medicinal mushrooms' or adaptogens. Adaptogens are plants and mushrooms that help your body respond to stress, anxiety, fatigue and overall wellbeing. Boosting your dietary intake with adaptogens can help your physical performance. In LA athletes in particular are adding adap-
togens to their coffee which "shrooms" would you like in your drink?
12) PLANT-BASED EVERYTHING
Plant-based dairy products and meat alternatives only set to get bigger and bigger this year. Look out for plantbased bowls if you aren’t decided most could convert even the most dedicated of meat eaters.
13) MOOD FOOD
A fancy way of saying “ordinary food with cannabis infused”, mood food has been growing in popularity on social media for some time. YouTube channels such as The Cannabis Cooking Channel all point toward a sustained interest in marijuana-infused entrees, deserts, and even cocktails.
14) ALCOHOL-FREE COCKTAILS
Mocktails we shall always have with us; the Shirley Temple is one of the most famous, but so is the “virgin” Cosmo, guilt-free Margaritas, and much more. But a lots more people are taking to the wagon - there are now a lot more alcohol free versions of popular drinks coming to the market.
15) BUTTER BOARDS
Butter boards have become a viral Tik Tok sensation. What are they? Think charcuterie board with a butter base. Butter boards are wooden serving boards topped with a thick coating of butter. Toppings are then added to the butter. Once you’ve added your toppings to the butter, slather it on to french bread, crostini, challah, or even crackers.

WHAT IS STREP A?
We are hearing a lot in the news about Strep A at the moment… Here are the facts about the symptoms etc. Strep A is a common type of bacteria. Most strep A infections are mild and easily treated, but some are more serious.
Symptoms of a strep A infection...
Common symptoms of strep A include:
•FLU-LIKE SYMPTOMS (such as a high temperature)
•SWOLLEN GLANDS OR AN ACHING BODY
•SORE THROAT (strep throat or tonsillitis)
•A RASH THAT FEELS ROUGH, LIKE SANDPAPER (scarlet fever)
•SCABS AND SORES (impetigo)
•PAIN AND SWELLING (cellulitis)
•SEVERE MUSCLE ACHES
•NAUSEA AND VOMITING
Most strep A infections are not serious and can be treated with antibiotics. But rarely, the infection can cause serious problems. This is called invasive group A strep (iGAS).
What to do if your child is unwell: It can be difficult to tell when a child is seriously ill, but the main thing is to trust your instincts. You know better than anyone else what your child is usually like, so you'll know when something is seriously wrong. If your child does not seem to be seriously ill, you can usually look after them at home. They should feel better in a few days. If they're uncomfortable, you can give them children's paracetamol or children's ibuprofen. Check the leaflet to make sure the medicine is suitable for your child and to see how much to give them.
Treatments for a strep A infection: Most strep A infections can be easily treated with antibiotics. If you or your child has a strep A infection, you should stay away from nursery, school or work for 24 hours after you start taking antibiotics. This will help stop the infection spreading to other people. Serious strep A infections (invasive group A strep, iGAS) need to be treated in hospital with antibiotics.

STRANGE BUT TRUE Strange but true...Strange
THEIR HANGING COFFINS... TAKING BURIAL TRADITIONS TO NEW HEIGHTS! There are cemeteries suspended from cliffs in Sagada, Philippines!
They were put there by indige nous people following ancient traditions which are said to stem from the belief that the higher the dead are to the sky, the more elevated their spirits are in the afterlife! The practice dates back thousands of years but is no longer prevalent, with buri als on the cliffs only taking place once every few years!
The body is wrapped tightly in fabric and carried up the mountain to be placed in its coffin. Some coffins are noticeably shorter; this is because it was once common practice to fold the deceased into the fetal position sometimes
breaking bones in the process since it was believed the body should leave this world as it entered it. Nearly all of the coffins are marked with the name of the person inside it. Overtime, the coffins deteriorate from exposure to the elements and fall to the ground below. Some of the coffins are over a century old! Since the hanging structures draw a number of tourists, many of the local residents will accompany tourists on the hike to witness the burial cliffs and offer insight into their traditions and culture.
No one is completely sure why the practice began. One belief is that the cemeteries served to place the bodies closer to their ancestral spirits, while others think they provided a creative way to keep bodies out of the waterlogged soil.

HELP FOR HORSES
The Andalusian Rescue Centre for Horses and Donkeys (ARCH) is open to the public on Sunday mornings from 10.00am until 2pm. Visitors can meet the current rescue cases and volunteers are happy to share their many and varied stories and talk about the work of the charity. Children (and adults) can pet and groom the gentler donkeys and ponies. Situated between Coin and Alhaurin el Grande, the Centre was founded 13 years ago and since then has saved the lives of countless abused or abandoned equines. Volunteers come from many walks of life, all age groups and many nationalities – sharing a common passion for horses. Although ARCH works closely with the Spanish authorities (most of the animals rescued come through SEPRONA, the animal welfare arm of the Guardia Civil, or from the local Police), the charity depends on donations, fund raising and on the income from its charity shop in Alhaurin el Grande.
Being involved in rescuing animals is a never-ending and frequently a heart-rending task. As ARCH President Jill Newman-Rogers says “You grieve for the ones you cannot save and then you have to move on to the ones you can. If you lose the battle then at least you know you tried and gave them loving care for their last days.”

NEWTOTHEMARKETIN2023
More EVs come onto the market this year – but don’t worry – there are still a few V8s coming over the next few years! Here’s some of the new cars we will see on the roads in 2023
Alfa Romeo is late to the EV party, but is hoping its first battery-powered model will charge to the top of the class when it arrives. The small all-electric SUV with near-silent progress, and distinctive design cues heavily influenced by the larger Tonale mean it should still turn heads.
However Alfa are Petrol heads, they have a new V6-powered mid-engined sports car with a carbon fibre chassis and a design inspired by the firm's iconic models from the past, Alfa's twoseater described by their bosses as “vey expensive” could face off rivals from McLaren, Porsche and Lamborghini.
Aston Martin have a even sleeker coupé version of the DBX. It promises to be even more invigorating to drive than the standard car. It shares its front end with the SUV, but it gets a lower roof that flows down into a wider, more purposeful rear. Under the skin it’s likely to get a more focused suspension set-up that offers sharper handling without sacrificing comfort.
Fiat has an all-new Panda. The all-electric newcomer will have a rugged and utilitarian character inspired by the original 1980 Panda, Designed to be affordable to buy and cost-effective to produce, the Panda will be a practical stablemate to the stylish and upmarket 500. The Italian brand is also planning a larger EV SUV version of the Panda.
Jeep won’t be abandoning its roots of rugged, utilitarian 4x4s in the electric age. The new Wagoneer S, is expected to take on established premium marques such as Mercedes and BMW, although trademark Jeep cues such as square wheel arches and vertical grille bars will remain. It will have a 0-60mph time of around 3.5 seconds and approximately 400 miles of range.

WHO AM I?
You will know that I am coming From the jingle of my bell, But exactly who I am is not an easy thing to tell. Children, they adore me for they find me jolly, but I do not see them when the halls are decked with holly.
My job often leaves me frozen, I am a man that all should know, But I do not do business in times of sleet or ice or snow. I travel much on business, But no reindeer haul me around, I do all my traveling firmly on the ground.
