Aaaah, New Year...the time for fresh starts, resolutions, losing seven pounds, horrendous credit card bills, detoxing and the post Christmas blues. If like me you always seem to make your resolutions in a drunken blur on New Years Eve, just after a hearty rendition of Auld Lang Syne (to which I hasten to add I’m the only one who seems to know the words!) and then have quickly forgotten about them by January the 3rd, then check out our Survival Guide on page 42 for the best tips and motivation for actually sticking to those resolutions. Do you remember Back to the Future 2, which was released in 1989? Marty McFly transported himself to the year 2015 and found lawyers had been abolished, and everyone flew around on hoverboards and in flying cars – They obviously didn’t think about people suing each other after the airborne accidents!! We wish you all a very happy, healthy and prosperous 2015...

A Woman’s World ADVICE FOR THE FUTURE... I was walking through town when a dirty, shabby-looking woman asked me for a couple of euros for food. I got ten euros out of my purse and asked, “If I give you this, will you buy wine with it instead of dinner?” “No, I had to stop drinking years ago.” the woman told me. “Will you buy clothes instead of food?” I asked. “No, I don't waste time with new clothes.” the woman said. “Will you spend it at a hair salon instead of food?” I asked. “I haven’t had my hair done in 20 years!” she replied. “Instead of giving you the money,” I said “I'm taking you out for dinner with my husband tonight.” The woman was shocked. “Won't your husband be furious? I know I'm dirty, and smell disgusting.” “That's okay.” I said, “It's important he sees what a woman looks like after she has given up shopping, hair appointments and wine.”

MEN SUMMED UP IN A NUTSHELL... • The nice men are ugly. • The handsome men are not nice. • The handsome and nice men are gay. • The handsome, nice and heterosexual men are married. • The men who are not so handsome, but are nice men, have no money. • The men who are not so handsome, but are nice men with money think we are only after their money. • The handsome men without money are after our money. • The handsome men, who are not so nice and somewhat heterosexual, don't think we are beautiful enough. • The men who think we are beautiful, that are heterosexual, somewhat nice and have money, are cowards. • The men who are somewhat handsome, somewhat nice and have some money and thank god are heterosexual, are shy and never make the first move.

CELEBRITY BIG BROTHER 2015 LINE-UP: Katie Price Rumoured To Enter House With Ex-Husband Alex Reid... Celebrity Big Brother has already seen its fair share of rumoured housemates for January's show, but today's claims that Katie Price and a mystery ex (ALEX REID. Ahem) could be locked in the 'twisted fairytale' themed house together have us chomping at the bit for next year's show. The rumour is that Katie is looking to 'revive' her career on the show, it's being reported that producers are looking to shake things up by forcing her to share the house with one of her exes. The list goes on... Dwight Yorke and Gareth Gates are also being talked about, as well as first husband Peter Andre. And as usual speculation about this year's line-up of housemates has gone into over-drive already, with Perez Hilton, Daniella Westbrook and Katie Hopkins rumoured to be taking part, it’s set to be a good one. all being touted as possible housemates. HURRY UP 7th of January... 9pm Channel 5. NEW SERIES OF THE JUMP TO HIT OUR SCREENS IN EARLY 2015... Presented by Davina McCall the new series will feature the Bobsleigh, Slalom and Ski Cross from the first series, a number of new winter sports will be added to the show. Currentlyannounced celebrities - Dom Parker from Gogglebox, JLS's JB, Joey Essex, Louie Spence, Made in Chelsea's Louise Thompson, Mike Tindall, Phil Tufnell, Sally Bercow and Stacey Solomon - in action. BIG BROTHER GETS MOST COMPLAINTS OF ANY TV SHOW IN 2014... Big Brother topped Ofcom’s list of most complained about programmes last year, with 3,784 people moaning about the show. And it comes as no surprise then that the channel 5 reality show came only a couple of thousand ahead of its sister show, and second placed, Celebrity Big Brother, which had 1,874 complaints.Let’s see if they can manage to beat that redord this year (we hope so)!

NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS You may actually keep…

Are you sick of making the same resolutions year after year and yet you never keep them? Here are some resolutions that you can actually accomplish... • Read fewer books. A little learning is a dangerous thing. Too much of it can really screw around with your brain. • Cut down on exercise. Too much is bad for your health. • Gain weight, at least half a stone. Didn't your mum always say you were a bit skinny. • Watch more TV. It's very educational. Catch up on all those programs you missed down the years. • Drink more. Wasn't it Benjamin Franklin who said, beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy. So be happy. • Work less. Take it easy. All work and no play can make you a dull boy or girl. • Draw up a list of people who were nasty to you in the past year, get your own back on them in the next year! • Play more computer games. Scientists say they're good for you and improve your visual skills. But you always knew that. • Eat more nice things like cream cakes, pizza, popcorn and ice cream. Eat less rubbish like fresh fruit, vegetables and soy nuts. Five a day why not Big Mac’s I say!

ON OUR WAY OUT! My husband and I were dressed and ready to go out to a friends New Years Eve bash. Having been burgled in the past, we turned on a few lamps and the answering machine, and then put the cat in the back garden. When our cab arrived, we walked out of our front door and our rather tubby cat scooted between our legs inside, and then ran up the stairs. Because our cat likes to chase our budgie we really didn't want to leave them un-chaperoned so my husband ran inside to retrieve her and put her in the back garden again. Because I didn't want the taxi driver to know our house was going to be empty all evening, I explained to him that my husband would be out momentarily as he was just bidding goodnight to my mother. A few minutes later he got into the cab all hot and bothered, and said (to my growing horror and amusement) as the cab pulled away. "Sorry it took so long but the stupid bitch was hiding under the bed and I had to poke her with a coat hanger to get her to come out! She tried to take off so I grabbed her by the neck and wrapped her in a blanket so she wouldn't scratch me like she did last time. But it worked! I hauled her down the stairs and threw her into the back garden... She had better not poo in the vegetable garden again." The silence in the taxi was deafening!!..

A Liverpool girl goes to the office to register for child benefit... "How many children?" asks the welfare officer. "Ten" replies the Liverpool girl. "Ten?" says the welfare worker. "What are their names?" "Nathan, Nathan, Nathan, Nathan, Nathan, Nathan, Nathan, Nathan, Nathan & Nathan" "Doesn't that get confusing?" "Naah..." says the Liverpool girl, "It's great because if they are out playing in the street I just have to shout 'Nathan yer dinner's ready!' or 'Nathan go to bed now!' and they all do it" "What if you want to speak to one individually?" says the curious welfare worker "That's easy," says the Liverpool girl... "I just use their surnames" A scouser walked into the local job centre, marched straight up to the Counter and said 'Hi, I'm looking for a job'. The man behind the counter replied 'Your timing is amazing. We've just got one in from a very wealthy man who wants a chauffeur/ bodyguard for his nymphomaniac twin daughters. You'll have to drive around in a big black Mercedes and wear the uniform provided. The hours are a bit long but the meals are provided. You also have to escort the young ladies on their overseas holidays. The Salary package is ÂŁ200,000 a year'. The Scouser said 'You're pulling me chain!' The man behind the counter said 'Well you started it!

Police cordoned off Liverpool City Centre this morning when a suspicious object was discovered in a car. It later turned out to be a tax disk. A Primary Teacher explains to her class that she is a Liverpool fan. She asks her students to raise their hands if they too are Liverpool fans. Everyone in the class raises their hand except one little girl. The teacher looks at the girl with surprise and says, 'Mary, why didn't you raise your hand?' 'Because I'm not a Liverpool fan,' she replied. The teacher, still shocked, asks, 'Well, if you are not a Liverpool fan, then who are you a fan of?' 'I am a Chelsea fan, and proud of it,' Mary replied. The teacher could not believe her ears. 'Mary, why pray tell, are you a Chelsea fan?' 'Because my mum is a Chelsea fan, and my dad is a Chelsea fan, so I'm a Chelsea fan too!' 'Well,' said the teacher in an obviously annoyed tone, 'that is no reason for you to be a Chelsea fan. You don't have to be just like your parents all of the time... What if your mum was a prostitute and your dad was a drug addict, what would you be then?' Mary smiled, 'Then I'd be a Liverpool fan'.

A Liverpool girl enters an adult shop and asks for a vibrator The man says: “; choose one from our range on the wall" She says, "I'll take the red one" The man replies: "That's a fire extinguisher"

The stagesof being drunk Stage 1 - SMART This is when you suddenly become an expert on every subject in the known Universe. You know everything and want to pass on your knowledge to anyone who will listen. At this stage you are always RIGHT. And of course the person you are talking to is very WRONG. This makes for an interesting argument when both parties are SMART. Stage 2 - GOOD LOOKING This is when you realise that you are the BEST LOOKING person in the entire bar and that people fancy you. You can go up to a perfect stranger knowing they fancy you and really want to talk to you. Bear in mind that you are still SMART, so you can talk to this person about any subject under the sun. Stage 3 - RICH This is when you suddenly become the richest person in the world. You can buy drinks for the entire bar because you have an armoured truck full of money parked behind the bar. You can also make bets at this stage, because of course, you are still SMART, so naturally you will win all your bets. It doesn't matter how much you bet 'cos you are RICH. You will also buy drinks for everyone that you fancy, because now you are the BEST LOOKING person in the world.

The stagesof being drunk Stage 4 - BULLET PROOF You are now ready to pick fights with anyone and everyone especially those with whom you have been betting or arguing. This is because nothing can hurt you. At this point you can also go up to the partners of the people who you fancy and challenge to a battle of wits or money. You have no fear of losing this battle because you are SMART, you are RICH and hell, you're BETTER LOOKING than they are anyway! Stage 5 - INVISIBLE

This is the Final Stage of Drunkenness. At this point you can do anything because NO ONE CAN SEE YOU. You dance on a table to impress the people who you fancy because the rest of the people in the room cannot see you. You are also invisible to the person who wants to fight you. You can walk through the street singing at the top of your lungs because no one can see or hear you and because you're still SMART you know all the words.

A Man’s World

THE RIGHT APPROACH...

Two married friends are out drinking one night when one turns to the other and says, “You know, I don't know what else to do. Whenever I go home after we've been out drinking I turn the headlights off before I get to the driveway. I shut off the engine and coast into the garage. I take my shoes off before I go into the house, I sneak up the stairs, I get undressed in the bathroom, I ease into bed and my wife STILL wakes up and yells at me for staying out so late!” His mate looks at him and says, “Well, you're obviously taking the wrong approach. I screech into the driveway, slam the door, storm up the steps, throw my shoes into the wardrobe, jump into bed, rub my hands on my wife's bum and say, ‘How about a bit?...’ and she's always sound asleep.”

FIVE RULES TO A HAPPILY MARRIED LIFE... · It's important to have a woman who cooks, cleans up and also has a job. · It's important to have a woman who can make you laugh. · It's important to have a woman who you can trust and who doesn't lie to you. · It's important to have a woman who is good in bed and who likes to be with you.

· It's very, very important that these four women never meet one another.

Medical Tips

Why are men reluctant to seek medical help?

A survey carried out by Everyman Male Cancer Charity suggested that nearly twice as many men as women had not visited their Doctors in the past year. Evidence suggests fewer men go to the Dentist or the pharmacists for advice and information, or attend clinics, although men are more likely to end up in hospital because they delay seeking medical advice. Even male cancer helplines are used more by women, seeking advise on behalf of partners, fathers or sons and the fact that more women get skin cancer than men, but more men die from it indicates how late men are going to the doctors. Men could really learn from women about attitudes to health!! Historically women have always been the custodians of health. They have cervical and breast screening and they take the kids to the GP. As generally men

don’t do any of that, they are much more reluctant to seek help when they have symptoms. Cancer survival rates in the UK are amongst the lowest in Europe, this is generally because the British don’t have a pro-active approach to their healthcare needs and seek medical assistance later. In Spain the medical facilities were recently voted 2nd out of all EU member states, in their prevention and treatment of cancer. Men tend not to talk about health preferring to discuss the game at the weekend, their car or a partner. Even politics is a more popular subject than health! In this recent survey it was found that men are going to the doctors with very advanced cancers and thus decreased survival rates. Generally survival is 60:40 when it could be as much as 99:1. Evidence yet again that we all need to take a much more pro-active approach to our health. Prevention and early detection is your best form of defense!!

10 Symptoms men tend to ignore:

• Indigestion • Frequency in urinating • Pain or stinging when urinating • Being over weight • Thirst • Skin changes • Lump or bumps • Erectile dysfunction • Changes to bowel habits • Unexplained Pain

“Taking risks and thinking nothing bad will happen is even seen as being part and parcel of being a man.”

KEEPING NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS:

We all start the New Year with such good intentions; losing weight, joining a gym, giving up smoking, spending more quality time with the children, etc. etc. but by the time February is approaching most of those resolutions are just a distant memory. What is it that makes us all give up so easily when we had so much determination just a few weeks previously?

SETTING UNREALISTIC GOALS

This is one of the main reasons people give up trying. Stating that you want to lose two stone in a month sounds very nice but is unrealistic. When this doesn’t happen it’s easy to think, “What’s the point?” The same applies with a new exercise regime or any other good intention. By setting unrealistic goals we set ourselves up for ultimate failure. If however we stated for example that we would like to lose half a stone in a month and achieved this, we feel fantastic. We have done what we set out to do, and have succeeded. So whatever your resolution, make sure it’s achievable and something you will be able to gently build into your life. You don’t need to go to the gym everyday, start off by saying you will try and go twice a week, once you’re into that routine you’ll find it much easier to fit in another one or two trips. Spending less time at work and more time with the family is another example that will have to gradually be built into your everyday life. If you suddenly cut your hours down by ten a week, you’ll feel it’s not an achievable option as the work starts to pile up, but trying to get home just half an hour a day earlier is it a great start which can gradually be increased as you learn to delegate more.

TRYING TO GO IT ALONE

It’s a know fact that if we join a group of like minded, supportive people we are much more likely to succeed than simply going it alone. Joining a slimming club to help you lose weight will not only let you meet people aiming for the same goal, but will also become a valuable support group for times when the going is tough, as well as giving you the extra discipline of being weighed each week. Joining a gym with a friend and arranging to travel there together can make it much harder to say “Oh I can’t be bothered tonight” when it means letting someone else down too. If giving up smoking is your resolution, don’t try it simply on will power alone, there are so many products available and specialist clinics and treatments to help you kick the habit for good, why struggle alone?

FORGETTING WHY WE MADE THE RESOLUTIONS

It’s easy to lose sight of our initial goals, so try to do something visual to remind you, whether it be sticking an unflattering photo to the fridge, an article about lung cancer on the pin board, or a smiling photo of your children on your desk at work, anything that will remind you why you made the promise to yourself in the first place. make yourself some sort of progress chart to monitor how ell you are doing and treat yourself whenever you hit these realistic targets.

Medical Mayhem

Psychiatristic help:

A woman went to a psychiatrist because she was having severe problems with her sex life. The psychiatrist asked her many questions but did not seem to be getting a clear picture of her problems.

Finally he asked, "Do you ever watch your husband's face while you are having sex?" "Well, yes, I did once." "And how did he look?" "Very angry." At this point the psychiatrist felt that he was really getting somewhere and he said, "Well that's very interesting, we must look into this further. Now tell me, you say that you have only seen your husband's face once during sex; that seems somewhat unusual. How did it occur that you saw his face that one time?" "He was looking through the window at us."

Golfing Accident:

A man staggers into a hospital with concussion, Multiple bruises, two black eyes and a 5 iron wrapped tightly around his throat. The doctor asked "What happened to you?" "Well I was playing Golf with my wife when we sliced our golf balls into a field of cows. I found one stuck in a cows arse, I yelled to my wife 'this looks like yours', I don't remember much after that ..."

FINANCIAL NEWS The Euro & World Round Up

Well it’s the New Year and we are hearing the old news again that the ECB will start its bond buying programme, Q.E. Money Printing! as its not looking good for the United States of Europe, the data out of Europe has not been positive, retail sales are down, Spanish Services are down and the euro has weekend, tit-fortat sanctions against Russia have not helped euro exports to Russia, billions of Euros worth of revenue have been lost, nose, face and spite spring to mind. However it does not seem to be doom and gloom in the UK, excellent service figures from the UK pushed the £ a cent higher against the euro in early December. Good news for house buyers as Mr Osborne has reduced stamp duty on UK properties, helping buyers on the property ladder, interest rates have been kept on hold at .50% and there is also talk the £ vs. € could hit 1.30 in the new year, so if you are selling euro for Sterling now is a good time, if you are looking to buy € and sell £ it might be better to wait.

A BIT OF DIY...

After a recent spate of home improvements, four couples were having a dinner party to discuss the additions to their houses. Alan had not recently had a new bathroom. Kara had not yet done her kitchen, but perhaps would update it next. Brian, who is married to Maud, had not had new windows. Laura delighted in showing photographs of her new conservatory. Neither Charles nor David had a new kitchen. Julie had not had new windows. Alan, who also had not had windows, is not married to Laura and Charles is not married to Kara.

Who is married to whom and what work had they recently undertaken, assuming that each couple had one improvement and no two couples had the same improvement.

An efficiency expert concluded his lecture with a note of caution. "You don't want to try these techniques at home." "Why not?" asked someone from the back of the audience. "I watched my wife's routine at breakfast for years," the expert explained. "She made lots of trips to the refrigerator, cooker, table and cupboards, often carrying just a single item at a time. 'Honey,' I suggested, 'Why don't you try carrying several things at once?'" The voice from the back asked, "Did it save time?" The expert replied, "Actually, yes. It used to take her twenty minutes to get breakfast ready. Now I do it in seven.

As you get a little older sometimes you have a little trouble with your computer. Yesterday, I had a problem, so I called Georgie, the 11 year old next door, whose bedroom looks like Mission Control, and asked him to come over. Georgie clicked a couple of buttons and solved the problem. As he was walking away, I called after him, 'So, what was wrong?' He replied, 'It was an ID ten T error.' I didn't want to appear stupid, but nonetheless had to inquire, 'An ID ten T error? What's that in case I need to fix it again?' Georgie grinned. 'Haven't you ever heard of an ID ten T error before?' 'No,' I replied. 'Write it down,' he said, 'I think you'll figure it out.' So I wrote down:

ID10T

I used to like Georgie, the little bugger!

Late Night Phone Call To The Vet: A dog lover, whose dog was a female and 'in heat', agreed to look after her neighbor's male dog while the neighbors were on holiday. She had a large house and believed that she could keep the two dogs apart. However, as she was drifting off to sleep she heard awful howling and moaning sounds, rushed downstairs and found the dogs locked together. Unable to separate them, and perplexed as to what to do next, although it was late, she called the vet,

who answered in a very grumpy voice. After she explained the problem to him, the vet said, "Hang up the phone and place it down alongside the dogs. I will then call you back and the noise of the ringing will make the male stop his business." "Do you think that will work?" she asked. "It just worked on me," he replied.

A fellow was talking to his buddy, and he said, “I don't know what to get my wife for her birthday. She has everything, and besides, she can afford to buy anything she wants, so I'm stumped.” His buddy said, “I have an idea. Why don't you make up a certificate saying she can have 60 minutes of great sex, any way that she wants it. She'll probably be thrilled.” So the fellow did. The next day his buddy asked, “Well? Did you take my advice?” “Yes, I did,” said the fellow. “And... did she like it?” His buddy asked. “Oh yes! She jumped up, thanked me, kissed me on the forehead and ran out the door yelling, ‘I'll be back in an hour!!!’”
