MARBELLA CRUISERS
You will know that Marbella Cruisers always negotiate their cruise prices with a minimum of 100 passengers. This secures ‘GROUP PRICES’ which are the ‘LOWEST CRUISE PRICES’ you can get. PLUS, and equally important, our prices always include dining, of course, in a choice of restaurants, plus all your drinks are always included at every bar and restaurant 24/7, and gratuities are included! Yes that is correct you don’t have to pay tips which most cruise lines now add to your final bill.
WE ARE WITH YOU THROUGHOUT THE CRUISE
If you are new to cruising, you will find our company, door to door’ can be quite helpful. We are available, at the same place on the ship, at the same time every day to answer questions and to help you make the most of everything the ship has to offer. On excursion days you will find us at the bottom of the ships exit gangway to show you to your coach and introduce you to your tour guide. When necessary we secure ‘GROUP’ discounts on hotels and we arrange coaches to take us from the hotel to the ship.
SAVING YOU BETWEEN £350 AND £600 PER PERSON PER CRUISE
When the saving on your cruise price is added to the discounts we get on our ‘GROUP EXCURSION’ prices the average saving per person, based on the last 700 passengers that booked with Marbella Cruisers, is between £350 and £600 per person depending on the duration of the cruise. (7 or 14 nights) There is no fee to join Marbella Cruisers, just a €50 organization/administration fee P.P on each cruise, to contribute to the advertising costs to ensure a minimum of 100 passengers on every cruise which then secures our ‘GROUP PRICE’. As soon as a cruise is announced we reserve a range of the best positioned cabins on a selection of the more popular decks and we negotiate hard.
YOUR CRUISE PAYMENTS ARE FINANCIALLY PROTECTED
Every cruise deposit and every cruise final payment is, for your protection, made to Travelfinders, a London based company, registered with all the relevant financial protection agencies and has been under the same ownership for 32 years. Every booking Marbella Cruisers has made over the past 5 years (that’s 700 passengers) has been through Travelfinders and not one complaint.

Labels for Dummies...
In case you needed further proof that the Human Race is doomed through stupidity, here are some actual label instructions on consumer products:
On Tesco’s Tiramisu dessert (printed on bottom): ‘Do not turn upside down.’ (well...duh, a bit late!)
On Marks & Spencer Bread Pudding: ‘Product will be hot after heating.’ (really after heating, it’s a funny old world...)
On packaging for a Rowenta iron: ‘Do not iron clothes on body.’ (but wouldn't this save me time?)
On Boot's Children Cough Medicine: ‘Do not drive a car or operate machinery after taking this medication.’ (We could do a lot to reduce the rate of construction accidents if we could just get those five year-olds with head-colds off those bulldozers.)
On Nytol Sleep Aid: ‘Warning: May cause drowsiness.’ (I'm taking this because?)
On most brands of Christmas lights: ‘For indoor or outdoor use only.’ (as opposed to what?)
On Sainsbury's peanuts: ‘Warning: contains nuts.’ (talk about a news flash)
On an American Airlines packet of nuts: ‘Instructions: Open packet, eat nuts.’ (gosh I hadn’t thought of doing that, odd) Continued on page 22....
Labels for Dummies...
Continued from page 20...
On a child's Superman costume: ’Wearing of this garment does not enable you to fly.’ (Well maybe not the to blame the company for this one..... Maybe the parents?)
On a Swedish chainsaw: ‘Do not attempt to stop chain with your hands or genitals.’ (Oh my God...was there a lot of this happening somewhere?)
On some Swanson frozen dinners -’Serving suggestion: Defrost.’ (But, it's just a suggestion.)
On a blanket from Taiwan: ‘Not to be used as protection from a tornado.’ (REALLY! Why not?)
On a helmet mounted mirror used by US cyclists: ‘Remember, objects in the mirror are actually behind you.’ (Thanks for that gentle reminder!)
On the bottle-top of a UK flavoured milk drink: ‘After opening, keep upright.’ (They spoil all the fun!)
On a New Zealand insect spray: ‘This product is not tested on animals.’ (Obviously highly efficient then!)
On a Japanese food processor: ‘Not to be used for the other use.’ (Now, could somebody out there help me on this. I'm a bit curious.)
On a Sears hair dryer: ‘Do not use while sleeping.’ (but that's the only time I have to do my hair!)
Alan’s Predicament...
THE CONFESSION
Hi Bob, This is Alan next door. I have a confession to make. I've been riddled with guilt these past few months and have been trying to pluck up the courage to tell you to your face, but I am at least now telling you in text as I can't live with myself a moment longer without you knowing. The truth is I have been sharing your wife, day and night when you're not around. In fact, probably more than you. I haven't been getting it at home recently, but that's no excuse, I know. The temptation was just too much. I can no longer live with the guilt and I hope you will accept my sincerest apologies and forgive me. It won't happen again.
suggest a fee for usage, and I'll pay you.
Regards, Alan.
THE ACTION TAKEN
Bob, feeling insulted and betrayed, grabbed his gun, and shot his neighbour dead. He returned home where he poured himself a stiff drink and sat down on the sofa. He took out his phone where he saw he has a subsequent message from his neighbour.....
THE SECOND MESSAGE
Hi Bob, This is Alan next door again. Sorry about the typo on my last text. I expect you figured it out anyway, & that you noticed that darned Autocorrect changed 'Wi-Fi' To 'Wife'. Technology hey?
Regards, Alan.
This root vegetable, which is harvested all summer into late Autumn, stores well and keeps for months.
If you've never tried beets in a curry before, you're in for something special. Beetroot's sweet, earthy flavour is a great match with the spices and it cooks up beautifully, too. You’ll love it!
Serves 4
Preparation 30 minutes
Cooking time 1 Hour
BEETROOT CURRY
INGREDIENTS
• 14 g Dried curry leaves
• 2 Teaspoons black mustard seeds
• 1 Teaspoon hot curry powder
• 2 Tablespoons desiccated coconut
• 6 Spring onions
• 3 Cloves of garlic
• 5 cm Piece of ginger
• Vegetable oil
• 1 kg Mixed beets, (about 12 medium-sized)
• 250 g Ripe cherry tomatoes
FOR THE TEMPER:
• 3 cloves of garlic
• 1-2 fresh long red chillies
• 5 cm piece of ginger
• 7 g dried curry leaves
METHOD
• 320 g Wild rice
• 1 x 400 ml Tin of light coconut milk
• 1 Lemon
• ½ A bunch of fresh coriander, (15g)
• 1 Lime
STEP 1: Place a large pan over a medium heat. Add the curry leaves, mustard seeds, curry powder and coconut and toast for 1–2 minute or until fragrant. Tip into a food processor and blitz well. STEP 2: Trim the spring onions and add to the food processor. Peel and chop the garlic and ginger and add to the food processor along with the vegetable oil. Pulse until the mixture forms a paste. STEP 3: Peel the beetroots and chop into 2cm cubes. Place the pan back on the hob over a medium heat, add the paste and cook for a few minutes. Add the chopped beetroot. Reduce the heat to low and cook for 25 minutes or until sticky and gnarly, stirring often. STEP 4: Tip in the cherry tomatoes and cook for 5 minutes, before starting to break them up with the back of a wooden spoon. Meanwhile, cook the rice according to the packet instructions. STEP 5: After 10 minutes, or once the tomatoes have completely cooked down, stir in the coconut milk and a squeeze of lemon juice. Increase the heat and cook for 5 minutes, until the sauce has thickened. Season to taste. If you want the curry a little looser, add a splash of water before serving. STEP 6: For the temper, place a frying pan over a medium heat and add the oil. Add all the temper ingredients and heat for 1–2 minutes, until the spices start to pop and smell aromatic. Turn off the heat and tip into a bowl lined with kitchen paper. STEP 7: Pick the coriander leaves and cut the lime into wedges. Serve the curry with the rice and temper, coriander leaves scattered on top and the lime wedges on the side for squeezing over.

Dave & Megan get married...
Dave had proposed to Megan and been accepted. At the time of acceptance Megan told Dave that she had to share with him something about her past life.
“No”, said Dave, “ I won’t hear of it.” You can tell me after we are married nothing will stop me loving you though…. All progressed nicely… After they were married and had set off for their honeymoon in the Caribbean, Megan again brought up the subject of her dreadful secret.
Again Dave was quick to say he didn’t want to hear it but Megan insisted, at which point Dave said “I tell you what tell me later when we are in bed together, that will be soon enough.”
That night as they got into bed Megan declared, “well, Dave, now I really do have to tell you my secret. You see, I’m still a virgin.”
Dave didn’t say a word but put on his clothes left the hotel room and travelled all the way back to his mothers house.
“It’s no good”, said Dave, “I’ve have to leave Megan; it turns out she’s a virgin.”
“Well Dave”, said his mother, “in that case you were quite right to come home. If she’s not good enough for the rest of the village, she’s not good enough for you.”
A quick-witted pup!
As a butcher is shooing a dog from his shop, he sees 10 euro and a note in his mouth, reading: "10 lamb chops, please."
Amazed, he takes the money, puts a bag of chops in the dog's mouth, and quickly closes the shop. He follows the dog and watches him wait for a green light, look both ways, then trot across the road to a bus stop. The dog checks the timetable and sits on the bench.
When a bus arrives, he walks around to the front and looks at the number, then boards the bus.... The butcher follows, dumbstruck.
As the bus travels out into the suburbs, the dog takes in the scenery. After a while he stands on his back paws to push the "stop" bell, and then the butcher follows him off. The dog runs up to a house and drops his bag on the step and barks repeatedly. No answer. He goes back down the path, takes a big run, and throws himself (Whap!) against the door. He does this again and again.
But still no answer.
So he jumps on a wall, walks around the garden, barks repeatedly at a window, jumps off, and waits at the front door. Eventually a small guy opens it and starts cursing and shouting at the dog.
The butcher runs up screams at the guy:
"What the hell are you doing? This dog's a genius!”
The owner responds…. "Genius, I don’t think so!
That's the second time this week he's forgotten his key!”

IT’s A FUNNY OLD WORLD!
IT’S THE NEWLY TRENDY ‘BEER-ME’ DIET!
It seems that a lot of people are dieting recently, trying every thing from an all-carbohydrate to an all-protein mix. I have another suggestion, one that has worked through the ages: The "BeerMe" diet. Personally, I have a "liquid dinner" every time I go to the pub on Friday night!
FACT: On the "Beer-Me" diet you can eat anything you want. The only rule is that you cannot consume any food until you have consumed at least half of the day's required beers. This way the food will probably only stay in your body a short time, until you again exercise the deep knee bends, quick walk and, this time, the "lean-over-and-hurl" stomach crunches.
FACT: The "Beer-Me" diet is good for your heart. After just one day of consuming your required 12-15 beers, you will certainly want to consume some aspirin, which is med ically proven to help prevent heart attacks.
FACT: Beer drinking is often done in bars, where other forms of exercise are common. Dancing, for example, is a good way to build up a thirst, as is chasing members of the opposite sex. If you really want to maximize your workout, try actually walking up to the bar, versus using a waitress. To take this to the extreme, you could even get up and get someone else a beer-perhaps someone who is newer to the diet plan than yourself.
FACT: The average diet recommends a daily caloric intake of 1,500 calories for women, 1,800 for men, if you want to lose the medically safe two to three pounds a week. On the "Beer-Me" diet, that equates to at least 12 beverages a day for women, and 15 for men. A measurable goal I think.
Masterplanned by the well-respected Costa del Sol architectural firm of Melvin Villaroel, the Costalita area of Estepona is located on the beach side of the coastal road, to the east of the town and between the Arroyo Taraje and Saladillo-Benamara, conveniently close both the centre of Estepona, as well as to Marbella and Puerto Banús.
Developed by Urbis as a series of private communities centered around landscaped gardens and luxurious pools, the traditionally inspired, whitewashed Andalusian design of Costalita houses both apartments, ranging in size from one-bedroom units up to three- and four-bedroom duplex penthouses with private rooftop pools.
Costalita is home to the four-start Iberostar Costa del Sol hotel and two popular beachfront restaurants, La Antigua and Pepe Beach Restaurant.
The wonderful front line beach 5 star Villa Padierna Hotel Beach Club and water sports centre. Villacana Pony Club within a few minutes walk, one of the few stables that still do early morning beach riding. For the sports enthusiasts there is the Villa Padierna Paddle & Tennis Club. El Paraiso Golf, Los Flamingo Golf, Guadalmina & Atalaya Golf are all very local. Costalita offers the ideal combination of quiet, secure surroundings with easy access to the vast array of local services found along the N340 strip.
Golfers can’t get enough of the Costa del Sol!
Blue skies, green fairways, warm sea breezes… what’s not to love about golfing in the Costa del Sol? The area attracts golfers from within Spain and from around the world. In fact, Spain attracts 1.2 million golfers from overseas annually, making it the world’s leading destination for international golf tourism. To explore the attractions of golfing in Spain, we caught up with Marc Pritchard of Taylor Wimpey España, which has been building golf and beach homes along with Spanish coast for more than 60 years.
Why do golfers love the Costa del Sol?
Championship-level courses with challenging terrain and spectacular views are one reason that many golfers return to the Costa del Sol year after year. The fact that the area is home to more than 70 courses also means that golfers have plenty of choice over where to play. The Costa del Sol also offers golfers plenty to do when they’re off the course. Research by IE University, the Spanish Association of Golf Courses and the Royal Spanish Golf Federation shows that 88% of golfers’ expenditure is spent outside of golf courses when the visit the Costa del Sol. The huge range of restaurants, bars, shops, spas and other leisure venues mean that visitors to the region are spoiled for choice. What kind of golf properties are available?
Demand for Taylor Wimpey España’s homes in Spain is above pre-Covid levels and reservations by British buyers were up 38% in the year to September, compared to 2021. The Costa del Sol has long been the company’s most popular area with British buyers. Taylor Wimpey España has a string of developments in progress, meaning that golfers have a wide range of properties to choose from. Buyers are seeking spacious homes with high-end fixtures and fittings, in locations that deliver all the serenity that comes with a golf property but all the convenience that comes with having plenty of amenities nearby. Both Sunny Golf – the newest development at Malaga’s Estepona Golf resort – and the latest phase of the popular Green Golf development (also at Estepona) tick all the right boxes when it comes to providing golfers with what they seek. Sunny Golf will consist of 69 twoand three-bedroom apartments with panoramic views over the course, costing from €230,000 plus VAT. The new phase of Green Golf, meanwhile, will encompass 48 houses with three bedrooms and three bathrooms, priced from €348,000 plus VAT. Both developments come with communal pools and prettily landscaped gardens, while individual homes feature large terraces and light-filled, open plan living spaces.

SOME OF THE BIGGEST SCAMS IN HISTORY
ESTATE SCAM
This scam, took place over a 70 year period ending in 1936, it involved 28 swindlers who convinced people across America that a wealthy individual named Jacob Baker of Philadelphia had died, leaving his estate behind with no heirs. The fraudsters contacted people named Baker, saying that they represented the estate and would stake a claim to the property in exchange for a small fee. Approximately 3,000 people responded to the mail, handing over nearly 3 million USD to the scammers.
CHARLES PONZI
EARNS INFAMY FOR HIS NAME
Charles Ponzi, the creator of the original pyramid scheme, was born in Italy and first arrived in Boston in 1903, bearing 2.50$ to his name. His initial hustles were restricted to forging checks and assisting illegal migrants, serving a five-year term in U.S. prison for his troubles. In 1920, Ponzi discovered arbitrage in the form of international postal reply coupons, each worth 5 cents. Coupons purchased in Spain at a pre-set exchange rate could be redeemed for a nickel back in the U.S. He did just that, first recruiting people from the poorer economies in Europe to send him postage coupons, which he then sold in the U.S. for a profit. But Ponzi had grander ambitions and started to recruit ordinary people, promising them anywhere between 50% to 100% returns on their investment. Thousands of people entrusted him with their money. Ponzi used the incoming cash flow from new investors to pay off old ones, and many people simply reinvested their returns with him anyway. These kinds of outsized returns started to attract scrutiny, and an investigation by The Boston Post revealed that the business was a scam. It was ascertained that Ponzi had swiped up to 20 million USD from investors, which earned him another jail sentence. He was later deported back to Italy..
THE INTERNET HAS PAVED THE WAY FOR WELL-KNOWN SCAMS SUCH AS THE “NIGERIAN PRINCE” OR THE “WEALTHY WIDOW BENEFACTOR,” AS WELL AS THE RECENTLY TRENDING VENMO AND PAYPAL SCAMS, AND DATING-APP CRYPTO SCAMS. BUT PEOPLE LOOKING FOR CREATIVE METHODS OF FRAUD HAD BEEN A STAPLE OF SOCIETY WELL BEFORE COMPUTERS WERE EVEN A THING.
VICTOR LUSTIG TRIED TO SELL THE EIFFEL TOWER, TWICE
ALVES DOS REIS
PRINTED HIMSELF REAL MONEY
The Eiffel Tower was constructed for the 1889 World’s Fair, coinciding with the 100-year anniversary of the French Revolution. At the time, it was the tallest structure built by humans and kept that title for 41 years (until the Chrysler Building in New York surpassed it). In 1925, when Victor Lustig was 35 years old, he learned how expensive the tower had become to maintain. He subsequently came up with the idea to sell the Eiffel Tower to a scrap metal dealer. Lustig found a scrap metal dealer in France to give a quote and even managed to have a sizable bribe added in. He got away with it, too; the scrap metal dealer was so ashamed of being tricked that he didn’t go to the police. After the scam, Lustig moved to Vienna with suitcases full of cash. He considered the fraud so successful that he moved back to Paris the next month to do it again with a different scrap metal dealer. Although he did not succeed a second time, he was still able to evade arrest.
Alves dos Reis was born in Lisbon in 1896. When he was 28 years old he printed himself so much money he caused an economic crisis that led to a nationalist military coup d’etat. Reis forged a contract with the Bank of Portugal that authorized him to print a new set of banknotes he approached the company that previously printed Bank of Portugal notes, Waterlow & Sons, to make all the new cash. As the printers used legit, original plates to print the banknotes, the forgeries were perfect. Reis had 200,000 bank notes printed, worth almost 1% of Portugal’s entire GDP, comparable to about 2 billion USD in currency today. At one point, half of the 500 escudos notes in circulation were fake. Reis had so much money, the businesses, real estate, and luxury goods he bought created a boom in the economy. Reis used a bank he acquired in Angola, a Portuguese colony to launder the money before, brilliantly, he attempted to buy himself a stake in the Bank of Portugal to retroactively approve his unauthorized notes. Eventually, Reis was found out by journalists of O Século, a newspaper owned by tycoon Alfredo de Silva, he saw Reis as a competitor. The extent of Reis’ conspiracy was so large that few believed it could have been carried out by a single person. The courts suspected that corrupt employees of the National Bank helped Reis, and he also had support from the German government who were making an attempt to take over control of Angola. Reis received a 20-year prison sentence, he only served 15 years as he died of a heart attack in 1955.
WILLIAM THOMPSON: THE ORIGINAL CON MAN
William Thompson lived in the mid-19th century in New York City and was likely the first person to become widely known as a “confidence man”. As a con man, Thompson would exploit the naivete of people he met. Thompson would walk up to people in a friendly way, greet them and give the impression the two had met before. After gaining the trust of a stranger, Thompson would simply ask: “Have you confidence in me to trust me with your watch until tomorrow?”
Unbelievably, this worked. Thompson managed to repeat the trick on various people before authorities caught up with him.

STAN’S HEART ATTACK...
The medics rushed Mr. Smith to the hospital in the middle of the night, apparently with a massive heart attack. The doctors work on him all night and morning and finally discharge him to intensive care, where therapy continues.
After a couple of days, Mr. Smith’s Doctor comes into his room and says, 'Stan, I'm happy to tell you that you are completely well. You have the heart function that you did when you were a fifteen-year-old lad. We're going to send you home tomorrow. You don't have to worry about your heart; do any physical exercise that you like.'
Mr. Smith goes home and that evening is talking with his wife. 'Dee, you'll never believe it! I'm com pletely well. I have no worries with my heart. Tonight, Darling, you and I are going to make love like you've never had before - wild, passionate sex!'
Dee thinks for a minute and says, 'I don't know, Stan. I've heard about active sex and heart condi tions. I don't want it to be on my conscience if you die while we are making love. Maybe, just maybe, if your doctor wrote a note to me saying that everything was okay, maybe I would have such sex with you.' Mr. Smith was dejected, but the next day he was in his doctor's office. His doctor tells him, 'Sure, sure, Stan, no problem, I'll write the note. Let's see, here's my prescription pad: 'Mr. Stan Smith, a patient of mine, has the heart function of a fifteen-year-old lad, and can have mad, passion ate, adventurous sex any time that he so desires, signed, Dr. Aaron Katz.' Now, I'll just address this. By the way, Stan, what's your wife's first name?' ‘Uh, Doctor, could you just make that, 'To Whom It May Concern'?'

ACUPUNCTURE...
Acupuncture involves the insertion of very thin needles through your skin at strategic points on your body. A key component of traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture is most commonly used to treat pain. Increasingly, it is being used for overall wellness, including stress management.
How acupuncture works: Western medical acupuncture is the use of acupuncture following a medical diagnosis. It involves stimulating sensory nerves under the skin and in the muscles. This results in the body producing natural substances, such as pain-relieving endorphins. It's likely that these naturally released substances are responsible for the beneficial effects experienced with acupuncture.
A course of acupuncture usually creates longer lasting pain relief than when a single treatment is used.
Traditional acupuncture is based on the belief that an energy, or "life force", flows through the body in channels called meridi ans. This life force is known as Qi (pronounced "chee").
Practitioners who use acupuncture in the traditional way believe that when Qi does not flow freely through the body, this can cause illness. They also believe acupuncture can restore the flow of Qi, and so restore health.
Uses of acupuncture
How acupuncture is performed
An initial acupuncture session usually lasts 20 min utes to 1 hour and involves an assessment of your general health, medical history and a physical exami nation, followed by insertion of the acupuncture nee dles. Courses of treatment often involve several separate sessions, but this can vary. INSERTION OF THE NEEDLES.
are inserted into specific places on the body, which practitioners call acupuncture points.
the session, you'll usually be asked to sit or lie down. You may also be asked to remove some clothes so the practitioner can access certain parts of your body.
The needles used are very fine and are usually a few centimetres long. They should be single-use, pre-ster ilised needles that are disposed of immediately after use. Acupuncture practitioners choose specific points to place the needles based on your condition. Several points may be used during a typical session, depend ing on the number of symptoms you have.
safety & regulation
If you choose to have acupuncture, it is recom mended that you check the acupuncture practi tioner is either a regulated healthcare professional. Or you get a recommendation. There is no regula tion for the practice of natural therapies in Spain.
The needles may be inserted just under the skin, or deeper so they reach muscle. Once the needles are in place, they may be left in position for a length of time lasting from a few minutes up to around 30 minutes. You may feel a tingling or a dull ache when the nee dles are inserted but you should not experience any significant pain. If you do, let your practitioner know straight away.

Agnes married and had 13 children. When her husband died, she married again and had 7 more children. Again, her husband died. So Agnes remarried and this time had 5 more children. Alas, she finally died. Standing before her coffin, the preacher prayed for her. He thanked the Lord for this very loving woman and said, Lord, theyre finally together. One mourner leaned over and quietly asked her friend, "Do you think he means her first, second or third husband?" The friend replied,
"I think he means her legs."
Father O'Mally has been preaching at his church in Ireland for so long, that he decides to take a vacation. He has never been married and he is curious as to what an American endures in everyday life. So, he decides to go to the States. He hops on the plane bound for Nevada. He arrives in the Airport in Las Vegas. As he is
exiting the plane, someone in the airport runs up to him and exclaims, "Elvis! Oh my God! It's Elvis! I knew you weren't dead Elvis! How have you been?"
The Father looks at her and says, "Get outta me face. Can't you see I'm not Elvis? I don't look a thing like Elvis." The father moves on to his cab waiting outside. He hops in his cab and he's a little upset so he tells the cabby, "Take me to my hotel and step on it."
The cabby turns and says, "Sure thing sir - Oh my God! It's Elvis! I knew you weren't dead! I'm your number one fan! It's so great to see you!"
"Shut up, you imbecile. I'm not Elvis! Now turn around and drive!" So, the cabby speeds up to the hotel. Father O'Malley gets his things and walks up to the hotel check-in counter. "Oh my God! Oh my God! It's you!" screams the hotel clerk. "You're back Elvis! I knew this day would happen. We saved everything just the way you like it! Free cheeseburgers, peanut butter and banana fried sandwiches, masseurs, complementary hookers and a full liquor bar! I'm so glad you're back!"
Father O'Malley looks at the hotel clerk and says, "Thank you. Thank you very much!"
