When I first started Could I Have That seven years ago, I was living on my own and having a blast being twenty something. Over the years I’ve shared different aspects of how my lifestyle has changed from learning how to cook, moving in with my boyfriend, getting engaged, planning a wedding, remodeling our home, traveling and then (drum roll) starting a family. Becoming a mom feels like the greatest achievement to date for me. I love, love, love it. And while I do work a majority of the week I still find a day here and there to just be a mom because I love it so much. From that place I wanted to share more about my experiences, wishes and inspirations surrounding motherhood without bombarding Could I Have That? With baby-related posts. In other words, I didn’t want to become a mommy blogger. So I had this thought, what if I produced a mini magazine to house it all in? That way if you are a parent, you can find all the fun content in one place. I hope you enjoy the first issue of Could I Have That? Mini as it won’t be the last! It’s been a labor of love that all my friends have contributed to. xx,

ARNA BAJRAKTAREVIĆ B O R N : BOSNIA F AV O R I T E C H I L D H O O D M E M O R Y: I spent my early childhood in Northwest Germany. I still love the layers, cool rainy days and riding bikes through lush forest that this time evokes. To this day, my preferred season is fall. I remember complaining about the heat during our long drive to Slovenia for summer vacation but once we arrived at the Adriatic, it was summer love. Those three weeks of childhood bliss in that little town of PortoroŞ are ingrained in my memory forever. We stayed in a bungalow resort and walked to the sea daily. Evenings

I was raised in a tiny town in the mountains of Colorado, but my family made annual trips to the ocean throughout my childhood. Whether it was the rugged Big Sur coastline or the pristine turquoise Caribbean beaches, I was captivated by the ocean at a young age. Honestly, being near the water is the main reason for my move to California about eight years ago. I live for warm sun, swaying palm trees, gentle crashing waves and an iced latte in my hand on the weekends here in Santa Barbara.

BEAUTY COUNTER

SAFE & SOUND It’s alarming when you hear that so many beauty products contain ingredients that can cause us harm and yet they’re still allowed to be used. Beauty Counter, one of my newfound favorites, is on a mission to inform people and create safe, effective and aesthetically cool products. I’ve become addicted to their sunscreen, lip gloss, mascara, face lotion and more so when I heard they were releasing a line of baby products I immediately scooped them up. The Protective Balm literally cured Elin’s diaper rash and the Soothing Oil has become a bedtime routine ritual—after the bath she loves getting a little leg/foot massage. Shop more from this amazing line

here. @beautycounter

JENNIFER FISHER

IT'S PERSONAL For years I’ve worn different pieces from Jennifer Fisher’s eponymous line of jewelry. Each piece reminds me of a time of my life and I’ve become more and more addicted to my growing collection of charm necklaces, cuffs and rings. When Elin was born I knew it warranted a new addition so

the burnish white diamond cuff. To this day it’s by far my most I picked the one I’d had my eye on for a few years —

coveted piece yet and I can’t wait to pass it down to her someday. For more personalized jewelry ideas be sure to check out Jennifer’s website here. @jenniferfisherjewelry

A P E R S O N A L FAV O R I T E :

YEARLING BY DOEN When you’re favorite line comes out with children’s pieces it’s pretty exciting. Doen has been on repeat in my world lately so I was beyond excited to put Elin in their newest mini Tulsi dress. 100% of the proceeds for this sweet number go to Room To Read, a non profit that supports child literacy around the world.

LOVE CHILD PHOTO

FREEZING TIME It’s amazing how fast our babies grow. One second they're curled up like a ball in your arms sleeping ninety percent of the time and the next they’re running around talking up a storm and reorganizing your shoe closet. It’s the photos that become like gold and remind us of each sweet little stage as time goes on. But what if we had something better than a 100+ goofy iPhone photos. Enter Love Child Photo, a modern pop-up studio that captures kids in the most authentic, beautiful way you could imagine. Head over to

their website to register your town as their next pit stop or sign up for the next nearby location.

@lovechildphoto HOPE AND FORTUNE

COZY UP London-based fabric junkie and travel enthusiast Louise Holmes, recently launched Hope & Fortune a line of incredibly soft baby blankets made with organic cotton in the sweetest prints you can imagine. Think muted shades, delicate prints and faded stripes. “I want to make blankets that are beautiful, ethical and organic and create a community where all mothers and babies are celebrated, “ says Holmes. One percent of each sale goes towards Mothers2Mothers.

GJENMI JEWELRY

MAMMA AND ME When you can slip on a necklace, wear it everyday, layer it with other pieces and forget about it until someone compliments you on it, you know it’s good. I have a few Gjenmi favorites that I wear on the regular so when designer Jennifer Pak (also a mama) came out with this sweet collection of mamma and me pieces, I had to share the news. Elin now says, “necklace” in the most adorable high pitched way and loves that we both have the same one.

Playtime is always more fun with a little bit of dress up! Even though she is still young, I love finding ways to be creative with Elin. From music class to a little pretend play dress up, I love seeing the world through her eyes and supporting her little creative spirit. On a warm afternoon, we sat down with my friend Lindsay and her daughter, Ava, to make some pretty little flower crowns for the girls. In the end, I think Elin was more into smelling the pretty flowers than wearing them, but the overall process was enjoyable and we were successful in getting Ava to wear one for a little while. For a bit of summer fun, here's our quick little guide to building your own!

The frame for the crowns is the paper wrapped wire strips. We chose to use these specific strips because they are easy to work with and generally already cut to a decent size. You could also fashion a frame out of regular wire. The paper wrapping adds to the aesthetic, but is not necessary. Measure and bend the wire around the head to the desired size. Some flower crowns are more of a headband and may not wrap all the way around. Bend loops on either end for tie off ribbon.

Choose your greens and flowers. Start your crown with a layer of pretty greenery that covers the wire. This will help create fullness and add texture. Once you have your greenery, you’ll tape it to the crown with your floral tape.

With the greenery in place, it’s time to add your flowers. To attach each flower to the crown, cut the flower stems to at least 3 inches long, and, using floral tape, tape the stem to the crown. You may want to wrap the floral tape several times to ensure that the stems are secure. You can either pile on flowers equally around the whole crown, or choose a larger, focal bloom for the front or side of the crown.

Once you feel happy about the fullness of the crown, it's always fun to add a little lace or ribbon for added texture. We made half crowns and added lace to the ends of the wire for tie off.

Honestly, there is no wrong way to make flower crowns. There's so many great variations and it's fun to include the kids' creativity!

the hamptons

FEATURED: The Ancient Highway Residence, East Hampton New to Kid & Coe for summer season 2016, this light filled family home is full of interesting art including Tom Kelly and Slim Aarons photographs and is right between Sag Harbor and East Hampton, with a beach nearby for every day of the summer.

SPECS: Sleeps 8 plus 4 babies PRICE: Starts at $1,200 /night

splurge KID&COE TIPS FOR THE HAMPTONS: • The most expensive properties are closest to the beach and have a pool. So if you can cope with a short drive or walk to the beach or a property without a pool, that will certainly save you $$. • Most Hamptons properties are rented by the month as a minimum during the season (May - September) and many of them are large enough for at least two families, so grab a friend and her family and split the cost with them to make your money go further. • Note that a lot of beaches require permits -our homeowners may be able to help arrange them to make your stay easier.

DESTINATION:

portugal

FEATURED: The Casa do Oc, Alentejo, Portugal Portugal is a fantastic value destination right now, with superb design properties like this one for a snip of the price you would find elsewhere. Alentejo wines include Touriga Nacional, Aragonez, Arinto, Fernão Pires, and Roupeiro and are typically full-bodied. • What else to buy in the region? Alentejo is famed for its cork trees, and upmarket boutiques sell anything from shoes and bags to cell phone cases made out of the material.

ELIN'S ROOM

refreshed M AY 2 0 1 6

When I originally designed Elin’s room I had no idea whether we were getting a boy or a girl since we waited to find out. So I happily went with a color palette of soft, neutral shades like white, gray, flax and slate (see inset). I loved the feeling of the room from the start. It’s always felt calm, cool and tranquil. It was a perfect vibe to welcome a baby in and I’m convinced it contributed to her good sleeping habits. But as Elin has grown I’ve had to make a few adjustments to fit her different milestones, toy collection and levels of play. I also decided it was time to welcome a little color into the room. It all started with a pillow that I found at Atelier Atsuyo et Akiko in New York that says, “Bon Nuit” in hot pink. The (almost) neon shade next to the neutral room was just what the space was needing. So I went on a mission to find a few more hot pink accents to freshen up the space. My next mission was finding a good system for all of Elin’s toys and books. We were constantly cleaning them up and running out of storage space. So I found a simple, low bookshelf and used some of the cubbies for books and some for baskets with toys. Now Elin can reach them herself and everything has a place. The final addition to the room has been our favorite by far. Every once in awhile I’d find Elin sitting next in her room flipping through books all on her own. It was amazing to see her being so independent and entertaining herself so I wanted to create a place in her room to encourage it even more. I remember loving forts as a kid so I started doing a little research. A teepee would have taken up too much space so I went with a linen canopy I found in a dusty rose color. We put twinkle lights inside and made it a cozy nook with a sheepskin rug and a custom pillow from Diani Living. Every night Elin darts into the canopy and points up and says “tar!” So we turn on the twinkle lights and read books together and it’s becoming one of the sweetest routines of our day.

th n i t u O 5 TIPS FOR A PICNIC WITH THE KIDDOS

1. Think about the sun. Pick a shady spot or plan ahead with sunscreen and an umbrella. 2.

Invest in reusable bamboo or plasticware.

3. Don’t forget water for the kids and of course, wine for the mamas. 4. Pack light. It’s tempting to bring a lot of stuff, but really you should only need one load of things. 5. Do the laundry right when you get home to avoid food and stains drying.
