T
he Hartville Marketplace & Flea Market is no stranger to anything nostalgia and/or the hosting of large events. The Americana Cruise felt like a perfect fit with a very huge parking lot for the show vehicles and the indoor market was a delight for anyone looking for something different or, perhaps, just a brief respite from the bright sun. Hot rods, customs and lead sleds, numerous styles of trucks were on display. Petroliana, gas and oil items, general and American antiques could also be found and were available for purchase. Several food trucks brought out an excellent variety of tasty food and indoor restaurants were handy too. Thursday was a setup day which many took advantage of. Friday there was a “road tour” cruise to the MAPS Museum at the Canton-Akron Airport to check out their amazing display of historic and military airplanes. Later that same day, there was another “road tour” cruise over to Maize Valley Farms. Maize Valley is defined as a winery, craft brewery, farm market and family fun zone destination. They specialize in great food and special events. This was a good one last year so hopefully you had time to check it out this year! That’s all I have - Joe

J
alopyrama is one of those shows that car lovers look forward to each and every year with great anticipation. For the past 16 years that anticipation has been and continues to be rewarded to all that make it out to take part in the show. Whether you have a car on display or just come to check out the show it is really one of those shows that packs a great deal to all that enter. Jalopyrama is in the second year of its new home in the Talbot County Community Center located in Easton, Maryland. This new home is a great place to have a car show as it serves as a hockey rink during its normal life, which is a perfect setting for a show. For the simple reason hockey rinks have great lighting which can only be described as being perfect balance all around the rink. This idea lighting allows for all the cars that parked on what normally is the ice rink to be seen in the idea backdrop. Each year Mike Szuba and the Rusty Nuts Hot Rod Group work very hard in putting together the finest collection of pre 1963 cars. Every show has its own selection of cars which are the featured group and these are the ones which are on display inside of the Talbot County Community Center. For the 16th 2021 edition of Jalopyrama the cars that were on display came in the form of Woodies, Wagons and Tubs. Szuba and his team put together a jaw dropping collection of cars for folks to check out. If you were into surfing wagons then there were Woodies of all shapes and styles ranging from the decades of 30’s, 40’s and 50’s. If you wanted to check out classic wagons from almost every year in the 50’s you were in luck once again as all sorts of wagons from Chevy’s, Plymouth, Pontiacs and almost any other classic wagons could be found at the show. If you were into the tubs class of cars you were

in luck as well as all types of styles of these classic were on hand at the 16th Annual Jalopyrama. From the time the doors are opened up till this one day show comes to a close there is so much to see and do. In addition to the car show inside of the Talbot County Community Center there is another huge show that takes place outside in the parking lot that surrounds the Talbot County Community Center. The parking lot is filled to the brim with even more cool classic pre 1963 cars. For here folks can check out Customs, Hot Rods, Rat Rods, Gassers, Vintage Race Cars, Muscle cars, and just about anything else you can imagine. A huge swap meet takes place as well outside and inside with all sorts of great items just waiting to be snatched up and taken home to start or finish a project or just hang up in the garage, basement or anywhere else in the house. If you wanted to take home a unique piece of artwork then you were in luck as well. During the run of the show a great group of pin-stripers are hard at work, as Pin-stripers Panel Jam are hard at work making one of kind pieces of artwork. Once all of the artwork are completed they are put up for auction along with even more pieces of great stuff just waiting to be purchased during the live auction that is held at the show. As in the past the East Coast Hot Rod Preservation Alliance Inc. a 501c3 non-profit is the sponsoring organization for Jalopyrama. The Jalopyrama is a benefit show supporting charitable organizations in the Talbot County. So in addition to putting on a great show Jalopyrama does a great deal of good for the community which allows the show to be put on is a win win for all that take part in this special show.

With the 16th Annual Jalopyrama wrapped up there is no doubt that Mike Szuba and all of his hard working staff are already putting their heads together and getting to work on the 17th Jalopyrama which will once again be held at the Talbot County Community Center in Easton, Maryland. With the show once again being held in the month of May the 2022 edition of the show will have the feature group of cars in the form of Deuces and 40’s taking their place inside of the hockey rink. So if you are in the Easton Maryland area you should make plans to come out and check out the next running of Jalopyrama you will have a great time checking out all the cool cars that can be found on display, it is a real true step back into the fun early days of hot rodding and custom car show world. ~John

Phillip’s 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu North Ridgeville, OH. Here’s my 1971 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu. It has a 307 SBC V8 and a Turbo 350 Automatic. The car is finished in a Crystal Red Metallic base. The 2:56 ratio rear end is all original. The Chevelle has an aftermarket Edelbrock 650 CFM 4-barrel carburetor and an aftermarket Edelbrock intake manifold with a 14’ air cleaner. It has Hooker Headers, which are complimented by an aggressive sounding custom dual 3” exhaust. At the moment the Chevelle has 33,000 original miles on it. The car retains its original interior, which is in excellent shape. The front and rear seats, headliner, dash, dash pad, door panels, and interior trim are in impeccable condition. The car’s exhaust system compliments the engine well with a deep, throaty, muscle care sound. Cutout exhausts also installed. The car sounds super aggressive coming down the road!
