Galaxy Restaurant Cruise-In

I had been to the Galaxy Restaurant numerous times previously, but this was my first time attending their annual car show. Access couldn’t be any easier as they’re located right next to the I-76 and RT 94 interchange in Wadsworth. Space was plentiful for cruisers and spectators with the restaurant’s huge parking lot and motels located on both sides allowing for overflow space to be used for the cruise-in car show.

This was my third show of the weekend and the second for Sunday. The event was scheduled for 3-7 PM. When I arrived at 3 P.M., the Galaxy lot was just about full and many vehicles were already sitting in the overflow lots. The Galaxy has both patio and indoor seating for food and beverage. A full menu was available inside at the Sports Bar. A simple menu was being served outside with various hot dog styles and pork sandwiches. I ordered a dog with chili sauce and it was served absolutely loaded with sauce. Wow! Just delicious!

Galaxy Restaurant Cruise-In

Yep, some of everything was there to check out. Classic cars, muscle cars, antique cars, custom cars, trucks, street rods, & motorcycles were setup with room to walk around. This event was free admission with dash plaques, trophies, door prizes, 50/50 drawing and live music which were all included in the activity on this Sunday.

This show was fairly large and it was easy to spend several hours walking around and checking out all of the rides which were there. I don’t think you would be disappointed if you put this event on your list of shows to check out.

GASKET GOONS HOT ROD BASH

Each and every year the fine folks better know as the Gasket Goons of Pa. take over the grounds of the Silver Creek AA located in Springtown, Pa. What comes out from this take over is know as the Gasket Goons Hot Rod Bash. In a one day mind blowing event every square inch of the Silver Creek AA is filled to the brim with all sorts of great cars of all shapes and styles. As soon as the sun first starts to shine cars line up waiting to take part in this yearly event.

It seems each and every year that all of the Gasket Goons find more and more space within the Silver Creek complex. Boy do they need it as more and more cars come out to have a fun day out in the hot rod world. Whether it be hot rods, customs, muscle cars, rat rods, gassers, race cars, classics you can find it all here. Rows and rows of cars provide a great way to get some exercise in and check out cool rides at the same time.

The Gasket Goons Hot Rod Bash is a car show for sure but there is so much more for everyone to take part in and enjoy. There is a giant automotive styles theme swap meet with all sorts of cool stuff that is for sale. The bicycle world is featured as well with a super collection of vintage and tricked out bicycles on display. The annual Hot Rod Bash also features the yearly Valve Cover race where folks create works of art out of valve covers and then line up and race each other until there is an overall winner. There is great music all day as well and this year featured two great bands in the form of The Ultra Kings and The Bottle Cap Rockets. In between the

bands the always popular Pin Up Girl Contest takes place with a brand new Miss Gasket Goons Hot Rod Bash is crowned much to the delight of the crowd. If folks need some great food and drink you were in luck as all sorts of great food and drink are available for sale on site as well.

During the run of the show all of the cars are checked out by the folks from the Gasket Goons looking for the best of the best. All of the car owners looked forward to taking home a trophy from this show. For you see each and every year the Gasket Goons make very special one of a kind trophies. These trophies are hand built and from year to year no one design or style is repeated so folks take home a true one of a kind award. This year some of the lucky winners were could be found in the following classes. The Pannel Beaters took home the Best Club Participation, while Bob Fuitano got the Best Motor for his 54 Chevy. Andy Epright got the slammed award for his low 52 Buick. Best Hot Rod award was presented to Al Schaefer, while James Ferrie was awarded Best Truck. Over in the Best Traditional John Ruth got the win, Best Gasser the winner Joe Krasnal. Mike Mees got the trophy for Best Wagon, while EJ Moser got the win for Best Stock class. Paul Cataldi got the best Rat Rod trophy, over in Best Paint the winner is Mike Polizzi. A very special achievement award was presented to Bill Atkinson. Out of all the cars that took part in this year’s Gasket Goons Hot Rod Bash there can only be one Best of Show. For this year’s event that special award went to Anthony Vassallo for his great 1960 Chevy.

Gasket Goons Hot Rod Bash is a show which is fun for the whole family. Where else can you bring out everyone for a great day outdoors. This is my 1973 Chevy impala. It is fully documented and has 2,500 original miles. It was purchased by my grandfather new, my father took care of it after his passing one year after purchasing it as a retirement gift. We still have the original tires on the wheels but replaced them so I could take it to my prom in 1999. It was passed on to me this year to enjoy. It still has a new car smell and the original wiper fluid amongst other original factory details.

This is my 1937 Plymouth full custom, custom frame and Q1A coilovers all around. It has a 450hp 400cu.in mopar moved back 1foot for center gravity. A tremec 6sp manual transmission backed up with a dutchman’s axle. Body has a one off custom tilt frontend, 4 glass fenders Frenched tail lights. The Car has all phantom gauges and custon dash and interior. Doors are changed to suicide doors with power windows and door openers with shaved door handles.

This car has been my cruiser for the last 15 years. It is original, except the interior has been redone. It only has about 34,000 miles on the odometer. Original paint, wide white walls and the windshield visor make it a great cruise car. I’ve driven it to the Summit Meet from Pittsburgh and back with no problems!
