Dear members, Happy New Year! I hope you have had a restful Christmas break and are excited for the term ahead. This is our committee’s final term in office (terms running March-March). We still have one third to go, but we have achieved so much in such a short time. We have gained nearly 800 new members, a 53% increase from previous years. Welcome to each and every one of you, I hope that you enjoy years of CULS benefits to come! We have established a thriving new Welfare department, which continues to expand this term with events such as our ‘CULS Cupid’ Valentine’s Surprise. ‘Puppy Therapy’ has been a highlight of my time as President. We also hosted our first ever CULS Summer Socials, connecting our members both online and in-person during Summer 2021. Our Law Ball Launch Social was such a success we are hosting another this term for our Lent Gala on the 2nd of February! Our Summer Garden Party 2021 was its greatest to date, expanding into a large-scale event. We founded a ‘Membership Discounts’ scheme, partnering with a variety of restaurants, cafés and bars around Cambridge. Our Per Incuriam department has extended our links abroad with Columbia. Our Pro Bono team have newly collaborated with UCL and LSE on ‘Pro Bono at the Bar’. With much more I could mention, I will forever cherish the memories CULS has provided.
In the term ahead, we have a lot to look forward to. We have diversified our Careers offering with an additional focus on careers at the Bar, practising Human Rights, and legal careers across the globe. Our Welfare and Socials calendar are packed, with events every week. Non-Lawyers will gain from tailored application support and advice. We will be hosting some exciting new Alumni events; namely, our Alumni-Student Dinner, where current students will have the opportunity to dine with alumni, and a new Annual Alumni Dinner solely for our past members. The pages ahead reveal copious opportunities for our members to engage with the Society. I hope you have a wonderful Lent term with us. Finally, I would like to thank our dedicated CULS Committee. It has been a joy to work together this past year to achieve all that we have. Additionally, thank you to our sponsors for their generous support of our society. Thank you also to Richard Briggs for allowing me to use his beautiful artwork throughout this Term Card, and to Mateo Aboy for his incredible Law Faculty sketch on the front cover. Best wishes, Katie Adamson CULS President 2021-22

If you are a 1st or 2nd year student, sign up to be mentored by a student in the year above. 3rd year students will be paired up with an Alumnus.
