I am your Division 05 North Lieutenant Governor, Eric Kor. I am so psyched for a golden year this new term! This past month has been slow and easy, but be prepared to work hard the next few months during the summer! We have so much to do and I promise these next events will be fun and worthwhile, but hard at the same time! Also, be ready for Officer's Training Conference (OTC) and Regional Training Conference (RTC.) Don't want to be behind in the upcoming year? Want to learn many golden ways on how to improve your club? Please come to these events so you will be able to take advantage of these amazing opportunities. Let's work diligently and work extra hard this next month! Please contact me if you have any questions, comments or concerns. Shining in Service,

Eric Kor

D05N Lieutenant Governor

My fellow Key Clubbers, I am beyond excited to be a part of the new Division Leadership as one of the Executive Assistants for the 2013-2014 term. I look forward to being a part of this team, and having the opportunity to assist our LTG for anything he needs. I am probably one of the most energetic people you will ever meet. Being outgoing has helped me become less shy over the years. I may be one of the strangest people you’ve ever met, but don’t be afraid to approach me and get to know me. I’m so honored and excited to be on the 2013-2014 Leadership team, and having the opportunity to assist Eric Kor, our new LTG!

What’s up, D05 Nooorth?! You have all known me last term as your Division 05 Executive Assistant, and I am happy to serve you again in this 2013-2014 term as your Division 05 North News Editor! I am definitely looking forward to this new term, and I can’t want to work with all the individual members and officers each month! I hope to make future newsletters very interesting as well as informative. I have been a part of the Key Club ohana since freshman year, and I hope to dedicate my time into creating the best newsletters possible! Stay cool, Key Clubbers! Checking out,

Fellow Key Clubbers! My name is Cynthia Martinez and I am one of the two new Executive Assistants of our Lieutenant Governor Eric Kor. I have various ideas on making our division as memorable and fantastic as possible! I used to be the Vice President of Madera South Key Club, before I took the next step in expanding my Key Club experience. In order to help our division succeed even more, I plan on reaching out to the schools in our division that are north of the river. I'm willing to take trips and visit them as a guest to show that Division 5 North cares about everyone in our division. Being in Key Club has truly changed my life; I'm finally able to make a change in every community I visit. I personally enjoy making an impact on people and helping them. Being the Executive Assistant of Eric Kor will give me greater opportunities to make a difference. It is truly an honor, I couldn't be more grateful for such an opportunity. The 2013-2014 term will be one to remember!

INTRODUCTION FROM THE LTG/DLT (Cont.)

To my fellow Kiwanis family members, Looking back, Key Club has helped me grow as both a person and as a leader. I intend to improve the divisional website to correlate with the divisional realignment and to make it more accessible. The website will be updated regularly and members, especially those who do not have Facebook, may find information regarding upcoming divisional events, recaps on past events, the divisional newsletter, permission slips, and more on the website. With this opportunity, I look forward to serving my division and providing a year of excitement and accomplishment. Feel free to approach me at the divisional events or email me.

Kelly Chu is my name and SPIRIT is my game! I am currently a junior at Buchanan High School and am now on the Division 5 North spirit leadership committee along with two other wonderful young ladies, Kimmy and Ali. I especially love Key Club because it brings together so many diverse people and groups to unite into one big family. My experiences with events such as Fall Rally have opened my eyes, and continues to motivate me to encourage members to participate in events so that they feel the same joy and warmth that I feel when I'm surrounded by my Kiwanis family. My personal goal is to make sure that all key clubbers feel welcome and accepted at all of our events, fundraisers and meetings. I hope to build bonds and relationships with anyone who is willing to talk to me and I want to make this a fantastic year for everyone in Division 5 North!

Kelly Chu

D05N Spirit Coordinator When I first joined Key Club this year as a freshman, I had thoroughly enjoyed it simply because it gave me an activity to keep me busy while, at the same time, making a difference. As the year went on, I realized that I had grown a passion towards not only volunteering, but also Key Club itself. Since I have joined, there hasn't been a day that I have skipped a thought for Key Club and all that it has done for me. If it wasn't for all of the members, leaders, and especially the club officers of the club I serve, I would probably not have come this far. Along with two wonderful ladies, Kelly Chu and Ali Saengsavang on the spirit committee, we plan to make this 2013-2014 Key Club year a success. I hope that with what our team can do, we can inspire you as much as this club has for us. I cannot wait to meet you all and I am confident that with everyone’s hard work, we will accomplish much more this year!

Hello! For those of you that do not know, I am Ali Saengsavang, a freshman key clubber at Clovis North. Recently, I was selected to become a part of the spirit coordination committee, which to me was probably one of the biggest accomplishments I have ever achieved. So far, Key Club has just been one big ball of fun! The idea of bringing those that want to make a difference in the world while aquiring leadership skills is absolutely brilliant. Also, knowing you’ve changed lives in a positive direction gives such a feel-good emotion. Although I haven’t been to many Key Club events, I can truly say I do not regret attending the ones I have volunteered for. Now that I’m a member of the elite LTG cabinet, I’m ecstatic to be spouting out endless ideas, ones that will motivate others to see the excitement in helping out the communities of the world, starting with ours. All I can say is my primary goal is to bring awesomeness and smiles to everyone that crosses the Key Club path!

UPDATES FROM THE D05N CLUBS Buchanan Key Club participated in this year’s Project Eliminate Week, which was held from May 6th-10th. This was a week to raise awareness of Project Eliminate, raising money to help eliminate maternal neonatal tetanus from third world countries. Throughout the week, our club collected change from members within our club, but also planned events throughout the week, such as creating a poster showing support and having our members take a picture with it. Our best accomplishments of the week was getting recognized by Key Club International and figuring out that we donated $60 and saved over 30 lives. Not only that, but during Project Eliminate Week, it was announced that MNT was eliminated from Iraq. We got to see that our efforts really do pay off. Serving with spirit,

Tracy Liu

Club President 13-14

May 18th-19th was the California Classic Weekend of 2013. Clovis North Key Club spent their Sunday morning volunteering to cheer on and serve marathon runners. Enduring the changing weather of winds and heat, and spillage of sticky gatorade, our group of members pulled through greeting every runner with a smile and refreshment. With a turnout of 13 members, the club was able to make the event a great success.

UPDATES FROM THE D05N CLUBS Two weeks ago, Clovis West Key Club had the honor of volunteering at the Relay for Life held at Kastner Intermediate. Relay for Life is a nationally-recognized fundraising walk specifically for leukemia survivors and their families. Families and friends come together and form a team in which one member walks on the track until the next shift begins and they trade off with another member. Many sponsoring corporations such as Home Depot also form teams to bring awareness at this event. Despite AP testing happening the following week, many Clovis West Key Club students showed their support by helping out wherever they could at this event. We arrived early in the morning and helped set up for the overnight walk. A few of us would stay at the registration booth and register walkers, while others served food to them. Watching all the participants, young and old, walk for hours in the flaming hot sun was truly an inspiring moment for our Key Clubbers.
