Hello Corgis, The beginning of the school year is here! There are many things that can happen. That can mean many things. This is your chance to take advantage of everything going on. Recruit many new members, target those incoming freshmen. This year will be harder than the last. But don’t be afraid to challenge yourself with some harder classes. Make sure to prioritize Key Club within all your school, family and extracurricular. Be sure to keep on top of your Key Club work and

school work. School comes first.. If you have any questions don’t be afraid to ask your counselor, teachers, or peers. Ask more questions in class. People have different ideas, all you have to do is ask. This is a new year and a new you. Another thing is to enjoy high school. Don’t stress and overwork yourself. I have such high hopes for this year. All of you can make that dream come true. There’s so much to prepare and do this year. Remember that I’m always here for your support and questions. One thing to remember for your members is to plan ahead of time and have a way of communication. Also, turn in your Dues for early because you represent CNH District. I can’t help you recruit members, I can only give you advice. I'm always here for support though. I cant wait to see all of the new members at DCMs, Division Events and socials. See you soon,

LTG Kathy

Hey Key Clubbers, The school year is coming really soon/already started and it’s time to recruit new members! Club rush is coming up and we need to prepare ideas to attract incoming freshman into joining (or staying) in Key Club. In summer, people had plans to out of town and couldn’t attend events, but the school year is coming so we expect the number of people attending events to increase and to see many new faces. I am excited to see what our division will accomplish this year! Also, remember, you guys are in Key Club, a club where we need lots of spirit and can’t be afraid o embarrassment. So, don’t worry about looking weird. Have fun showing off your Key Club Spirit!

Hi Corgis, It was very fun getting to know and getting to hangout with some of you last summer. But school year 2016-2017 just begun and that means more responsibilities for us. Use your time wisely so that you can do well in school and extracurricular while still being able to participate in Key Club events. Keep in touch with the officers and members and definitely try to get to know them. Key Club is volunteer-based organization, but we also have many social aspects to it. Club rush will also be taking place this month (for most schools at least) and we want more people to become part of our “ohana”. Show off what Key Club is really about— volunteering, socializing, and feeling great. Promote it especially to freshmen, but welcome everyone with big smiles.

As the Division News Editor, I will be more than glad to accept articles and visuals from anyone, both officers and members. Don’t hesitate to contact me if you guys have any ideas on how to improve our division newsletter, The Corgi Chronicles. Do you want to feature something? My email is always open for those. Have a great school year and I hope to get to know every one of you guys.

-DNE Angela

Spotlight on you July Officer of Q: How does being a Key Club Officer help you grow? A: Being President for this year’s term hasn’t been easy, nor as hard. It’s more in the middle for me. Being the president has taught me to learn how to become more independent. When I didn't know how to find events and etc. I either learned it on my own or asked someone for help. That’s the thing I love about Key Club…each and everyone of us in Key Club will always try to help out others no matter what.. And now that I’ve been president for 3 to 4 months, I’m still learning more new things about Key Club that makes me more independent for my club and myself

Q: How does being a Key Clubber help you grow?

Nancy Sanjas Madera South HS

A: Key Club has given me the opportunity to help others in my community and it opened my eyes to what people go through. The service projects we have done have taught me that there are people out there who need our help, and we are making a difference when we offer to participate in activities. Key Club has made me a more humble and generous person, and I am glad that I joined because we are helping to make our community a better place where we all interact and help each other to grow as a group.

August DCM On July 20th, the Buchanan Key Club attended the Monthly DCM held at Pasa Tiempo Park hosted by Clovis East High School. The DCM had a Pokémon theme where each activity was related to Pokémon. During the meeting, the DLT talked about Club Rush, Spirit Gear, and future events such as Fall Rally Central and Fall Rally North. We then moved on to dinner where Clovis East provided pizzas and Kiwanis provided beverages such as soda and water. The DLT also had a bake sale fundraising for Eliminate. The Key Clubbers moved on to the activities where they were tied up in zip ties and looked together to find Pokémon's. There was also question and answers where Team Instincts won the game. In the end, everyone gathered to clean up the park, and a division event was set up at Community Food Bank.

Fresno’s M.E.A.L

Buchanan Key Club attended the monthly Fresno’s M.E.A.L. event on Sunday, July 10th at The Painted Table., along with several other volunteers in the community. First and foremost, volunteers personalized paper bags with art and inspiring words that would leave a positive impact on the homeless who received the bag. Next, the members prepared and wrapped 200 hotdogs, which were the main entrÊe of the meal. Next, they assembled care packages that went along with every meal, and once the tasks were complete, everyone packed the items into the personalized bags. Finally, at the end of the day, volunteers personally distributed the meals to homeless individuals in Downtown Fresno. -Haley Pham, Buchanan High School

On the 6th of August, Division 5 North hosted a division event held at the Community Food Bank. This is an organization that collects excess foods from grocery stores and donations. There were representatives from five schools, and a total number of around 15 people from Key Club. The Key Clubbers who attended joined in group with other members of the community for the Saturday Sortout. Our group started off with segregating bread. We had to check every bread in around 100 trays to

During this break, Key Clubbers were able to socialize and catch up with each other. The next task we were assigned was to segregate the good juice pouches from the leaking ones. We had to go through seven

large craters. Although it was a sticky and messy situations, we all had fun. We know that our hard work pays off as these pouches will make many children and adults happy. -Angela Simplina, Buchanan High School
