Hello Corgis, School is becoming hectic right now. But to myself and everyone else dealing with Key Club, AP classes, or college apps- to take a breather. Enjoy your years as a Key Clubber. As an officer, you have a right to make an impact on someone’s life. Whether it be saving a mother and her children from MNT, or making ensuing the passion for service in someone- all of it comes down to you. Being a Key Clubber has a world of opportunities for you. You can do whatever you set your mind to. I wouldn’t be Lt. Governor if I wasn’t hooked at Fall Rally, my first DCM, or service event. Small things do matter. Things you do, can change lives. Be the best you can be. But most of all remember to have fun- and enjoy life. Don’t be afraid to meet new people, your best friend could be anyone. You put in what you want to take out. Things don’t just come to you. You need to try, and so with a smile. Be positive, have fun, and smile. I can’t wait to see all the new members at future events, and I hope to see a bunch of submissions from now on!
See you soon, LTG Kathy

Hi Corgis, We’re a few months into school already. I hope that you are all well adjusted and that member recruitment is going well. More events are coming while school continues to get busier, but always remember to enjoy and don’t stress out too much. Also, remember to take care of yourselves despite being busy...health is important for efficient service and learning :) Editors: I’m very happy to be receiving submissions from more schools. I hope that you have time allotted for your responsibilities as a Key Club officer. Divide up the tasks and always ask your members, they almost always have some visuals that you can turn in. In this newsletter, you’ll see member recognition, past events, RTC highlights and future events. I’ve also included Key Club basics that would be a great tool to help members know more about what Key Club does. We all encourage you to join D05N Google Reflector and to contact LTG Kathy and any of the DLT if you guys need help. I hop you enjoy this month’s Corgi Chronicles! -DNE Angela

Spotlight on you August Corgi of the Month Q: What made you stay active in Key Club, both as a member and as an officer? A: What made me stay an active member and officer was the numerous opportunities to give back to my community. I love having the opportunity to give back to those around me in any way I can.
August officer of the Month
Kristyna Chavez Madera South HS
Q: What was your favorite Key Club event so far? Why?
Hannah Pham Buchanan HS
A: My favorite Key Club event so far was the 10th Annual Miracle Mile of Quarters Run because Key Clubbers from all over Division 05 North and South got together and dedicated their time to help lay out quarters that were collected by the members of Key Club in the shape of the letter "K" to represent Kiwanis. All the quarters were donated to the Valley Children's Hospital to help with the trauma program. Throughout this event, many Key Clubbers got to interact and bond with those from different schools and divisions.

On August 30th, Clovis East hosted their annual Club Rush Day where we were able to enlighten and invite students of all grade levels to come be a part of Key Club. In one day we were able to get more than 70 students sign-up to join, greatly increasing our numbers from past years. Both Clovis East’s President Katie Donovan and Treasurer Syncere Coleman worked the booth passing out flyers with information about Key Club and all that it entails! As usual, they were frequently asked, “Is Key Club where we make a variety of keys?” Trying to accommodate with this funny question we are looking ahead to our first member service project: making key chains for soldiers to hold pictures on. We look forward to getting more sign-ups tomorrow, and continuing to spread the love that comes from good deeds. Taylor Solley, Clovis East High School

On
the 30th of August, Madera South held their yearly club fair which allowed every club on the campus to be able to advertise their clubs to the students. Key Club participate in this school event to be able to be able to recruit new members and give out some information of What our club does and what we stand for. All officers and two members were expected to attend this event to be able to promote our club. Over one hundred students signed up and hopefully we are able to gain a lot of members out of this event. We are expecting to see them all in our next meeting which is September 8th. -Itzel Garcia, Madera South High School

Fresno Greek Festival Last August 26, 2016, five members from Buchanan Key Club attended the annual Greek Fest held at St. George Greek Orthodox Church. We arrived there at 11 am and three of us were assigned at the Mega Booth, while the other two were assigned at the Dining Area. At the Mega Booth, the three Key Clubbers served at the fourth station where the volunteers had to serve the customers and make sure that the food supply is not running out. After the taking a break, two of the Key Clubbers went back to serving food, while I helped out at the cooking station at the back. In there we prepared calamari, Greek fries, and Halloumi (fried cheese). The people assigned at the Dining Area were serving food as well, only on the indoors. The volunteer lasted until 3: 30 in the afternoon. Although it was tiring and busy work, it was overall fun. It was a great way to volunteer, socialize with other volunteers from other schools, and learn new knowledge about the Greek culture. -Angela Simplina, Buchanan High School

Holy Family Table Starting in the month of August, Key Clubbers were expected to attend the Holy Family Table if able to every Sunday. Kay Clubbers are expected to arrive at 6am every morning. Members are assigned jobs whether it’s to butter bread, set up the kitchen, cutting up vegetables, help cook, put chairs down from the tables, prepare foods or drinks. Once everything is prepared, the members get assigned positions in which they have to either serve food, keep count of how many people were fed, hand out dessert, serve coffee, help the disabled with their food, clean tables as people leave, and serve the salsa. The whole time being there, members were split into different categories which helped them to be able to communicate with others better. -Itzel Garcia, Madera South High School
