Hello Corgis, This is the last newsletter of my term. This year has been a roller coaster of emotions for me. But I have enjoyed every minute of it. Right now is the perfect time to start transitioning for next year's Officer Position. Check out my email for the re-election form for current officer's who would like to run again. The CNH Cyberkey is a great tool and has many valuable resources. I know the Division is in good hands. And I'm so excited to see all the great things that will come under Brittney's term. Hopefully I will see you at the March + April DCM and Banquet. Love you lots, Kathy 3
Welcome Hello Kiwanians, This is your 2017-2018 Lieutenant Governor elect Brittney Rodriguez. I am here to serve you all as member, leader, and a friend. I am currently a junior at Clovis North High School where, currently, I play both varsity soccer and badminton. Other enjoyable activities I like doing are meeting new people, reading, and drinking coffee. I have been in Key Club since my freshman year and am the current president, I look forward to working to help better Key Club. By being LTG I am in charge of overlooking Division 5 North and to work to improve how our Division runs. However, to achieve this goal of improvement I rely on the effort of all of the clubs in our Division and Kiwanians, in order to do this I want to encourage even more attendance at DCMs than we have had this past term. Personally, I hope to work on communicational improvements within Division 5 North between Kiwanis, officers, and members. In order to do this I want to make friendships with members and Kiwanians, and also to make it a goal of mine to make sure everybody is updated on information as soon as possible. Hopefully this will help strengthen the feeling of Ohana within our Division and in turn further improve Division 5 North. As your next LTG I aim to improve and to serve Region 12, I am very open to new ideas and will always be available to answer questions. I am so excited to work with my fellow corgis and to serve as your next Lieutenant Governor! -Brittney Rodriguez

February On February 15th, 2017, the Clovis high key club hosted the February DCM. Since our club had been reestablished we put a lot of quality work to make this DCM as enjoyable as possible. The DCM was located at K01 and was from 6pm to 8pm. The theme of the DCM was Valentines. We began with old business such as the Conclave, valentine’s gram, and division awards. After old business, we moved on the new business such as key leader, DCON, and the next DCM. Key leader is an event coming up to teach key club members leadership skills. DCON (District Convention), is an event designed to hone leadership and gather other key clubbers. The Next DCM will be hosted at Yosemite High school. -Seraphina Yang, Clovis High School During the February DCM, the Key Clubbers made Valentine's Grams for each other during this season of Love. We played lots of hugging games and finding your soul mate games and danced a lot. The Buchanan Key Club signed a contract with the Clovis Key Club for our bell back in turn, to help them at their next event. The people from the different schools seemed to enjoy themselves and had fun during this event. -Daniel Yook, Buchanan High School

Holy Family Table For the month of February Madera, South Key Club volunteers attended the Holy Family Table. Key Clubbers are allowed to go every Sunday. Key Clubbers are supposed to arrive at the Soup Kitchen around 6:00 am and stay till 10:30, time will vary. Key Clubbers have many tasks to complete whether it's helping bring chairs down, clean tables, or broom. The members helped make salads, cut up vegetables specifically carrots and broccoli, help cook or separate food (Image on the right) and butter the bread when they arrive (Image on the left). The members are assigned jobs which must be completed whether it's handing out utensils, keeping count of how many plates were served, serving salsa, plates, pastries. Once the Holy Family Table closes its doors to the people, members have to clean tables and pick up chairs and place them on top of tables. -Itzel Garcia, Madera South High School

The Clovis high key club has been collecting quarters for the Miracle Mile of Quarters Run. It is an event hosted by Kiwanis Division 05. This is the 12th time this event has been hosted and it will greatly benefit the Valley's Children Hospital. It is a one mile run and is a 20-point "Valley Runner of the Year" series event. To pick up the packet, it is on the day of the race only at Valley's Children Hospital and start at 6am. This mile run will consist of running, walking, or both. It is located at Valley Children's Hospital, 9300 Valley Children's Place, Madera, CA 93636. Why donate and participate? That money you donated makes a difference to those in need. Not only will the event be fun but it's for a very good cause -Seraphina Yang, Clovis High School
The Buchanan Key club volunteered at the Chocolate Rotary run by holding water stations. They also prepared the medals that they handed out to the runners later on. After the race, they picked up some of the trash left over. The weather this particular day was very nice and there was lots of good socializing going on between Key clubbers and nonKey clubbers. -Daniel Yook, Buchanan High School

On February 11, 2017, the Clovis high key club attended the Valentine's Grams for the Homeless. The event was hosted by Kiwanis at Woodward Park Library. It was from 9am to 11am. Why did we do this event? It's because "Everyone gets lonely, so this is a great way to put a smile on someone's face" Kathy Chu. At the event, they need some donations of scissors, construction paper, candy, ribbon, and markers. Everyone deserves happiness. Whether small or big it makes a difference in everyone's lives. Homeless are just as human as everyone else in the world. Yes, we could donate food, clothing, etc. But by doing these Valentine's Grams has a more personal effect -Seraphina Yang, Clovis High School During this event on Feb 11, the Buchanan key clubbers showed off their artistic side and created Grams for the homeless at the Woodward park library. There was a lot of good music and fun games to play towards the end of this event. -Daniel Yook, Buchanan High School
