SPOTLIGHT ON

SERVICE

PROGRAM This program has been created by the Service Projects Committee to educate Key Clubbers about the service initiatives from Cali-NevHa! A service initiative was assigned each month in which clubs should focus a project or two on supporting the following organizations or initiative. Overview: The Nickelodeon Big Help focuses on issues in service, education, environment, and health. Clubs can start their Key Club year off with simple projects to do in support of the Nickelodeon Big Help. Possible Projects: Feed the homeless, Clothes and Toys Drive, Feed military families, Do activities with Special Education students. Visit www.nick.com/thebighelp/ex planation to get more ideas.

SEPTEMBER WILL BE: NICKELODEON (THE BIG HELP)

Every school is responsible for raising at least $300+ before Fall Rally North to reach our division goal: $2700. Faculty Advisors must hold onto the money or be given to Mr. Outfleet.

I hope you all are ready for a new school year! I know you all are over achievers and like to pile great looking things onto your transcript but please do remember the reason why you LOVE Key Club and the amazing accomplishments we do as individuals. We all are/have inspired many people just from doing what we do best and we cannot stop now! Please remember your priorities and do not be afraid to contact me whenever you are having problems! I will always be available to help and answer questions night and day.

Answering the call for service,

Eric Kor

D05N Lieutenant Governor Clubs must submit their project through an electronic form. The form simply asks for project name, project description, project reflection, and basic club information. Submissions will be due no later than the 30th of each month. Clubs have the option of submitting a picture of members doing service. We highly suggest minimal picture of people posing and more service action. Pictures should be sent tocnhkc.sp@gmail.com. Each club that does so will receive recognition.

UPDATES FROM THE D05N CLUBS With summer coming to an end, Buchanan Key Clubhad a busy month helping the community in various events, as well as holding their first Party for PTP! The fundraiser included pieing, tug of war, raffles, and many more games. There was a great turn out from both Buchanan and Clovis West, all the members having a great time getting to know each other, and cooling off during a hot day. Raffle items included many delicious baked goods, a stuffed corgi, and your very own, bee pillow pet! The fundraiser ended up raising $142.30 for Pediatric Trauma Program! The biggest event was the I Can Bike bike camp, where Buchanan Key Club members helped teach special needs children how to ride a twowheeled bike for the first time. The club also brought some members and volunteered at the San Joaquin Memorial Football Carnival, helping at the snack bar collecting money, making Frito boats, filling sodas, and running around wherever they needed someone. We also sent members to various Kiwanis meetings during the month.

Both July and August were very busy months for Clovis West Key Clubbers! Many members were enthusiastic to attend the events hosted throughout the weeks! Our members helped clean up and maintain the Japanese Garden! In the iCANTRI Youth Triathlon, our members helped direct traffic for the racers to safely make it through the roads! We also helped at the San Joaquin Memorial Football Carnival, along with Fresno State’s Circle K and Buchanan High School, by serving the snack bar!

Clovis West also hosted a very successful fundraiser at McDonald’s, in which our club raised over $280 in just one night! We appreciate all the Key Clubbers who were able to make this happen by coming to McDonald’s and buying food! Our officers additionally attended Kiwanis meetings throughout August.
