UNICEF Trick Or Treat

Scare up some funds and fun this Halloween by parbcipabng in Trick-‐or-‐Treat for UNICEF. It’s a great opportunity to collect donabons instead of candy or to bring club members together for a fabulous event or party. All money collected by Kiwanis-‐family members through Trick-‐or-‐Treat for UNICEF will once again support The Eliminate Project and help save moms and babies. Did you know? A proud parbcipant in Trick-‐or-‐Treat for UNICEF since 1994, Key Club has raised more than US$6 million for child survival and development programs around the world—from efforts to eliminate iodine deficiency disorder to HIV/AIDS inibabves in Kenya and Swaziland. Starbng in 2012 Key Club joined other Kiwanis Service Leadership Programs to Trick-‐or-‐Treat for UNICEF to raise money for The Eliminate Project. You could raise funds door-‐to-‐door, host a trunk-‐or-‐treat, zombie walk, horror fest, pumpkin smash, “Twilight” dance, haunted house or even an old-‐fashioned pumpkin pie baking (or eabng) contest…or come up with your own idea! AROUND THE DIVISION

At the iCanBike camp, we helped down syndrome kids learn how to ride bikes. There were fast and slow learners, and at first, we were happiest with the fastest learners. They made us happy because we felt like we played a big part in their learning of how to ride a bike. But as the week dragged on, fewer and fewer kids were sbll riding the bikes with the special training wheels. As the slower learners improved more and more, a kind of peculiar happiness and sabsfacbon descended upon our key club group. This is what key club can share with us, and you be7er believe that it was good. -‐Ben Liang

KeOn Saturday, August 2nd, Buchanan Key Club served with Clovis West Key Club at the Community Food Bank. We started volunteering around 7:00 AM, packaging food that would later be distributed by the food bank to low-‐income communibes. Most of us took care of the juice, while a few sorted and labeled cans. To be honest, somebmes it just felt like labor work; there's not much fun in opening Caprisun boxes and placing them into another box. I didn't really feel like I was making a big difference; however, I did get to know more about Clovis West Key Clubbers which was fun, and at the end of the event I sbll felt good about helping out, because although it didn't seem like much, the friends I made and the work I did sbll made a difference somehow, which I think is really important. --‐Ben Liang
