December DCM Recap Hi Giraffes! The Division Leadership team would like to thank all of those who attended the Ice Skating DCM/Fundraiser/Social as it was one of the largest DCMs we've had this year! D15 raised over $468 for the Pediatric Trauma Program, so thanks again, Giraffes! :D
Contest Awards & Applications! Interested in getting some awards for your club? Want to take the stage at District Convention? Graduating and need some scholarships for college? If so, then check out the CNH Cyberkey for contest awards and applications! Most deadlines are in early February, so don't procrastinate!
Club Elections Presidents and current club officers, since there are many important dates coming up (Conclave, District Convention, etc.) you may want to start planning your club elections now! Starting early will give your officer-elects a great head start and plenty of time to get accustomed to the duties of their new position. Please do not forget to train each and officer, and more importantly, show them where they can get help! Graduating seniors, this is especially important, so get on it, giraffes!

Founded in 2000, The Christian Okoye Foundation events offer young men and women the opportunity to develop and refine the essential skills in their respective areas of interests. Each event offers a structured, well-supervised atmosphere where kids are led through sessions of drills, demonstrations and discussions on all aspects of sports and business. The Foundation stresses the importance of sportsmanship and a positive attitude in sports, in business, and in life. It is Christian's personal goal that each child leave his events as a better athlete and, more importantly, a better person.
On Saturday, January 19, Key Clubbers will have the opportunity to volunteer with the Christian Okoye Foundation! Set up begins bright and early at 5:00am and the walk will last throughout the day. Key Clubbers who volunteer will be helping up with miscellaneous tasks involving set up and management. Key Clubbers, this is a great opportunity to get hours and do what we do best - serve! If you have any questions, please contact Jaguar Jung at d15.cnhkc.ltg@gmail.com

Host Club, 2012
Hey everyone, I'm Fahrin and I'm here to tell you about Host Club! Based on the Japanese anime, members of the "Host Club" go from table to table to entertain their guests. Basically, D15 is here to entertain our fellow Giraffes while raising money for Project Eliminate. We will have a fun night filled with music, games, performances, fancy food, and possibly a dance! The theme: Alice in Wonderland; each table will have an activity that relates to a certain character. Hosts/hostesses will entertain guests by socializing, playing games, and speaking to them. District Convention is unofficially the beginning/end of the Key Club year. Considering the fact that it's going to be held in Anaheim this year (a huge plus for transportation), I would recommend that you do everything in your power to attend. DCON, as it's commonly abbreviated, is three days of non-stop Key Club. From spirit battles on Friday, to Governor's ball on Saturday, to the closing ceremonies on Sunday, the biggest Key Club event of the year is not something you should miss.

What is DCON? District Convention: An annual event designed specifically for Key Clubbers to come together and celebrate their community service. This is a chance for each home club to show what they have done throughout the year. Awards will be given out to those who go above and beyond the minimum requirements.
Why should I attend? Members: All of you should attend this convention for its unique experience. This event exposes you to the variety of divisions that work towards the same objective, which is benefitting the community. It’s a great chance to learn more than the usual community service project. You have an opportunity to make friends within the California-NevadaHawaii District. Most importantly it shows you that you are not alone when you surf the waves of service. DCON promotes both family values as well as service. Please make the decision to go to this event. It can guarantee a positive change in perspective towards the community you live in. You will feel more enlightened from the day you arrive and the final day you leave. Join all of us on this amazing wave of service.
What's the 2013 DCON Theme? A Million Waves of Service was inspired by a metaphorical ripple effect that is started with one good act of service (i.e. Park Clean up, Can Food Drive, etc.) Each act of service done by proud volunteers will build this ripple effect to an eventual wave that spreads beyond the community. Inspiration is a KEY component to keep these volunteers hungry for bigger waves of service to surf on. Project Eliminate for example is a huge wave of service. Many volunteers continue to surf on this wave until M.N.T. (Maternal Neonatal Tetanus) is gone. We hope to inspire you to surf the waves of service alongside your fellow Key Division 15 at DCON. Don Lugo - Isaiah's Rock Isaiah’s Rock is a community outreach program which seeks to promote love, care, and sharing among neighbors by providing food to needy families in Chino, California, and surrounding communities. On the night of November 20th, volunteers packaged and sorted goods for Isaiah’s Rock’s annual Thanksgiving Drive. Pictured to the left, about 250 volunteers showed up at a warehouse in order to package and sort the various goods to be provided to those in need the following day. On November 21st, volunteers once again served the community by distributing things to the needy, who either lined up to receive goods, or received them at the window of their car as pictured to the left. Items given away ranged from turkeys to pumpkins. Isaiah’s Rock is truly an exemplary example of aiding those in need, and gives its volunteers a great chance to serve their community. This particular drive gave everyone something to be thankful for; the needy received food; the volunteers received the satisfaction of helping people; and the local community became a slightly better place to live. - Austin Frenes

Claremont - See's Candies Life is like a box of chocolates--you never know what you’re going to get. While Forrest Gump may have uttered that famous line, it certainly pertains to the service event I look forward to annually: See’s Candies. Every year for the holiday season, Kiwanis rents out a store front in Claremont and gathers tables to put out in front of the local Vons supermarket. Boxes of See’s Candies are sold at these two locations. This huge fundraiser brings in the entire Claremont community as well as funds for Kiwanis. Chocolate and candies always make a perfect holiday gift for friends, family, or that special someone. Claremont Key Club is fortunate to have the opportunity to volunteer to help sort the merchandise and sell candy. This year, Kiwanis was able to rent out a larger area for a more attractive set up, making it easier and more fun for us as volunteers to help out. Kiwanis has a set up near the entrance of Vons on Baseline and on 973 W Foothill Blvd, Claremont, CA 91711. Stop by to support Claremont Kiwanis and check off that person on your gift list! - Nimrah Imam
