Painting Party by Dev Bhatt, Ayala On February 3rd, 2017 members from Ruben S Ayala’s Key Club were called in to help the Soroptimist society of Chino Hills in hosting one of their famous Painting Parties. Here, guests would learn how to paint a picture by a featured artist as well as enjoy a nice dinner with friends and family. All money raised by the party went toward funding for the Soroptimist society, a group that assists young ladies in their education as well as strives for the independence of women everywhere. At this party, Key Clubbers assisted in setting the tables and decorations, distributing painting supplies and food to the partygoers, as well as finally packing all of the materials and supplies at the end of the event. During the event, they were given treats by the event’s host as a token of appreciation for their hard work. Many of the members said they loved the event and look forward to volunteering for more painting parties.
Isaiah’s Rock by Erin Huang, Chino Hills This past week I went to Isaiah's Rock and it was an absolute blast! My friends and I helped prepare dinner for the less fortunate. We cooked stir fry with many vegetables including carrots, onions, and broccoli, white rice, and a special sauce. We also sliced roast pork and zucchini to put into the stir fry to add more flavor. Later we spread butter on croissants, baked them in the oven, and served it with the rice. We also cleaned the refrigerators and packaged some goods donated to the Isaiah's Rock family. This was all thanks to the other volunteers that attended the event with me. The best part was being able to talk and mingle with the helpers and my friends while helping out those in need. The weather that night was great and the atmosphere was honestly amazing! The Isaiah's Rock family are all so sweet and kind to the volunteers as well as those who come for free dinner. Overall I really enjoyed my time volunteering at Isaiah's Rock and I look forward to going back next time!
My Key Club Experience by Andrea Ruiz, Los Osos So far, this past year has gone by so quickly. I have grown so much in Key Club and have discovered a little bit more about myself. Key Club's core values have helped me grow and become a better person. Through the core value of leadership, I have become a more patient leader. This year I realized, that being a leader doesn't mean that my only job is to just tell people what to do. It's to bring out the best in people, encourage/motivate them, and to bring together all of our different qualities in order to successfully accomplish anything we do. For example, our club had a hand making event. For this event, I grouped together the best cutters and artists. By putting people into groups where they excel, we were able to quickly make multiple hands in order to send to an organization. My officer board and I took everyone's different qualities and applied them together and were able to finish a task efficiently and successfully. So, even though this year as treasurer has gone by really quickly, I have grown tremendously and I owe all to this club.
congratulations!
Congratulations to our newest Lieutenant Governors of Division 15 North and South, Allie Price and Michelle Ho! We are so proud and so excited to see all that you will accomplish in this coming term! Wishing you the best! Much love!
